See Quake III Played On A Raspberry Pi

See Quake III Played On A Raspberry PiI remember when Quake III was first released, and back then 17” monitors were the norm, and playing it on a 19” monitor blew my mind away with the Riva TNT2 GPU, as I zipped through The Longest Yard at high resolution without missing a beat. It is then pretty difficult to believe how far computing power has come these days, with an example of Quake III running on a Raspberry Pi spotted in real life – and to think that the Raspberry Pi costs a pittance in comparison to a whole desktop back at the turn of the millenium.

Remember Intel’s Edison from CES, the SD card-sized computer that would run Linux and also sounded too good to be true? Well it was! Intel has admitted that the device will now use an Atom processor and be larger as a result. Shame.

Media Regulator Demands Porn Site Age Check Law Prior To Access

Media Regulator Demands Porn Site Age Check Law Prior To AccessPornography is a topic where much has been said about it, and this time around, we have a proposed clamp down on pornography with demand by a media regulator for porn sites to have an age check law in place before one is able to access that site. According to the results of a survey that was conducted by The Authority for Television On Demand (Atvod), these very same results were used as debating “ammunition” against underage access of pornography in the UK.

Facebook On Oculus Rift Might Look Like This

Facebook, the social network giant, has gone under the spotlight earlier this week for the simple fact that Mark Zuckerberg and company have decided to part with a cool $2 billion to pick up Oculus VR. Well, what does Facebook intend to do with this company as well as the VR headset that comes under their purview now? Facebook did promise that they will not rebrand Oculus with their logo and interface, although one question that might have gone through many peoples’ minds would be to wonder just how Facebook looks like in virtual reality. Baidu Achieves Victory In U.S. Lawsuit Concerning Censored Search Results

Baidu Achieves Victory In U.S. Lawsuit Concerning Censored Search ResultsIt makes plenty of sense that whenever a particular search engine shows up in court, someone in a particular geographical location must not have been too happy with a certain search result. America, the country where there are lawsuits flying left and right, saw eight folks from New York who made an attempt to actually sue China’s biggest search engine that is known as Baidu, but they failed in their attempt. However, the exact opposite happened, as the plaintiffs happened to be pro-democracy activists who actually pointed their finger at Baidu of de-listing their articles as well as videos for political reasons.

The iMacompanion Adds A USB Port To The Front Of iMacs

The iMacompanion Adds A USB Port To The Front Of iMacsIf there is one thing that Apple has done right with the iMac and its Thunderbolt Displays is that they have created very sleek and stylish looking products. How they managed this is by keeping the ports at the back, thus making the interface look very clean.

However there is a drawback which is that if you wanted to access the USB ports on an iMac, you’d have to reach around. Sometimes the monitor might even be placed in such a way that longer USB sticks might have a hard time fitting. Thankfully there’s an answer for that on Kickstarter. (more…)

Hex-Fury Claims To Be “Fastest BitCoin Miner”

Hex Fury Claims To Be “Fastest BitCoin Miner”Gone are the days of using an older and unwanted video card to mine crypto-currencies such as BitCoin successfully, considering how the first wave of craze has already wound down, and one is no longer able to make a living out of mining alone. Mega servers seem to have stepped into such a role instead, which happens to be the anti-thesis of what crypto-currency stands for. The Hex-Fury intends to bring BitCoin back to its roots.
