New Windows 8 Leaked Build 9374 Shows Off Kiosk Mode

New Windows 8 Leaked Build 9374 Shows Off Kiosk Mode

In the last two weeks we have seen two Windows 8 builds being leaked. Yet another build has been leaked and it shows off an entirely new feature, one that is quite exciting. Called Kiosk Mode, it is expected to be released with Windows 8.1 later this year. As far as this latest leaked build, 9374, is concerned there aren’t any substantial changes when compared to previous ones.

The Kiosk Mode feature will be available in PC settings menu and it will allow Windows functionality to be limited. It will be possible to place user accounts under lock down. Kiosk Mode can also be configured to run an app on login, this opens up a whole new range of possibilities as the machine can be used in retail stores for demos or as standalone kiosks. This feature probably wouldn’t be of any use to the average user, it does have a lot to offer to enterprises and businesses of all sizes. A preview build of Windows 8 is expected to be released at Microsoft’s BUILD conference, which will be held towards the end of June.

MSI AG2712 All-In-One Gaming PC Launched

MSI AG2712 All In One Gaming PC LaunchedIt was at CeBIT last month that we managed to get our hands on the MSI AG2712 all-in-one gaming PC, and boy was it quite the experience. Having said that, avid gamers who are on the lookout for an all-in-one gaming PC solution and have the budget to spare might want to consider the MSI AG2712. Just in case you cannot remember what the MSI AG2712 will come equipped with, it would be prudent to go through a little “refresher” course.

The MSI AG2712 will be powered by a quad-core Intel Core i7 processor, where it will be accompanied by NVIDIA’s high end GeForce GTX 670MX discrete graphics card that holds up to 3GB GDDR5 in graphics memory so that your gaming experience will be right up there with the very best, at least for a while. Windows 8 is the operating system of choice, and you get to enjoy up to 10 simultaneous touch points on the display, too. You can opt to use the MSI AG2712 as an independent monitor, and hook it up to other external devices such as gaming consoles for that added touch of flexibility.

Inhon Blade 13 Carbon Is One Light Notebook

Inhon Blade 13 Carbon Is One Light NotebookHave you ever heard of Inhon before? Neither have we, but it has come to our attention that this Taiwanese PC manufacturer might have some reasonable technological expertise up their sleeves, considering how the Blade 13 Carbon that you see above has emboldened Inhon to lay claim to the title of this particular notebook being the thinnest and lightest of its kind in the world, tipping the scales at a mere 870 grams while taking up just 10.7mm of space in terms of thickness.

If you need a point of reference, take into consideration Apple’s 13” MacBook Air, which was once the epitome of ultraportables, where that model tips the scales at a positively hefty 1.35kg (in comparison, of course), and measures 17mm at its thickest point. The Blade 13 Carbon from Inhon will come with Windows 8 as the operating system of choice, where it is powered by an Intel Core i5 or Core i7 processor, carry a 128GB or 256GB SSD, sport a Full HD 13” display, and 4GB RAM. It does not look like the Blade 13 Carbon will ever make its way to the US, although we do know that shipping of the Blade 13 Carbon will commence in Taiwan later this June from $1,350 onwards.

Comic Book Keyboard Stickers Brings Your Favorites To Your Fingertips

Comic Book Keyboard Stickers Brings Your Favorites To Your Fingertips

We believe by 2013, you should know your keyboard exceptionally well. You probably don’t think twice as you’re typing along and most likely don’t look down at your keys throughout the day. But you might want to glance down every so often if you equip your keyboard with this set of comic-book themed keyboard stickers.

The keyboard stickers are sold by Etsy seller Killer Duck Decals and not only places cool-looking comic book stickers on your keyboard’s keys, but each image correlates to the letter it’s being stuck on. For example, the V key has an image of Venom, the B key has the Batman symbol, and L has an image of Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtle’s Leonardo. (more…)

Asus Taichi 31 To Begin From $1,099 Upwards

Asus Taichi 31 To Begin From $1,099 UpwardsIt was in January this year when the Asus Taichi 31 was first revealed to the world, and you can more or less say that this is one notebook that is guaranteed to stop traffic whenever it is pulled from your backpack, or whatever else bag that you use to tote it around. Well, just a few days ago, it has been made available to the masses, although there were no pricing details to keep the Asus Taichi 31 company.

Sam’s Club, however, shows the way ahead with a starting price point of $1,099 for the Asus Taichi 31, although PCRush did display a starting price point of $1,357, which is a rather strange figure if you ask us. You can sign up to own the Asus Taichi 31 when it is finally available over at a page on Amazon, although this major online retailer has yet to put up an eventual price. While the design of the Asus Taichi 31 has earned its fair share of plaudits, I believe that this is not a notebook which is meant for everybody as it has its fair share of shortcomings. At the very least, you have a rough idea on how much money to set aside if you want to bring home the Asus Taichi 31.

Thermaltake Announces GOrb II Portable Laptop Cooler

Thermaltake Announces GOrb II Portable Laptop CoolerWe know that Thermaltake has dipped their toes in the laptop cooling market in the past, and it looks like the company is back with another laptop cooling solution, albeit in a more portable form factor. Dubbed the GOrb II, this is apparently a pocket-friendly ball-shaped cooling device that laptop owners can bring around with them on the go without worry about adding unnecessary bulk or how they are going to fit their giant laptop cooler into their bags. The GOrb II will play nice with laptops from 10” up to 17” and as you can see in the image above, the GOrb II can be split open in half, with either half sitting under your laptop.

Unfortunately only one half of the GOrb II has a fan, meaning that it probably will not be as powerful as regular laptop coolers, but if you’re in the market for a portable solution, this could be it. At the same time since it helps prop your laptop up, it will allow air to flow underneath it, allowing for natural cooling as well. The GOrb II will be powered via USB and one cool thing is that the USB cable comes with another USB connector, meaning that you won’t lose out on your USB slot when you plug this into your laptop. Microsoft Working With PC OEMs On Smaller Windows RT/8 Devices

Microsoft Working With PC OEMs On Smaller Windows RT/8 DevicesIf you fancy smaller tablet devices, like the Nexus 7, Amazon Kindle Fire, Galaxy Tab 7.7, and the iPad mini, you might be interested to learn that Microsoft has also expressed an interest in smaller devices as well and has confirmed that they are working on optimizing Windows RT and Windows 8 for smaller screen devices with the next update of the operating system. Microsoft did not state specifically that this update would be only for tablets, but rather it would be for Windows 8 touchscreen devices, which includes tablets as well as laptop/tablet hybrid devices. Microsoft’s CFO, Peter Klein, confirmed that they are currently working with PC OEMs to develop these smaller devices which are expected to be launched in the near future. What do you guys think? Anyone interested in a smaller form factor Windows device?

YouTube Achieves Victory Over Viacom Case

YouTube Achieves Victory Over Viacom CaseIt is undeniable that YouTube trends have changed over the past few years, but it is a good thing that the company’s legal standing has remained. A federal judge has ruled that the DMCA still offers protection for the streaming site from Viacom’s copyright claims, where this particular ruling would respond to Viacom’s appeal of a 2010 case, where said case stated that YouTube is not to be held responsible for copyright infringing content uploaded by its users. Viacom has since sought to revise that particular ruling, insisting that YouTube was “willfully blind” towards such activities.

While that could very well be the case, Judge Louis Stanton sees things in a different light, saying, “Knowledge of the prevalence of infringing activity, and welcoming it, does not itself forfeit the safe harbor. To forfeit that, the provider must influence or participate in the infringement.” Considering how YouTube does not do any kind of pre-screening for its content before making it available live, and because it has always adhered to removing infringing content upon request, the video sharing behemoth is not liable in this case. It is understandable that Viacom feels aggrieved, and they will definitely appeal this ruling and take it to a jury if and where possible.
