Verizon 4G LTE Router Announced

Verizon 4G LTE Router AnnouncedFor those living in the US, most folks would know that there are four major mobile carriers, and Verizon is one of them, with the mobile carrier company having introduced a fair number of 4G LTE hotspots. Well, to make sure that customers have another way to hook up to their LTE network, Verizon has decided to unveil the Verizon 4G LTE Router. Basically, the Verizon 4G LTE Router allows you to connect other kinds of compatible hardware up to Verizon’s LTE service, and this can be done via wired and wireless connections. It seems that Netgear would be the hardware manufacturer of choice, where the Verizon 4G LTE Router is capable of supporting a grand total of 20 Wi-Fi-enabled devices simultaneously. Oh yeah, wired connections, too, are more than welcome, when it comes with a quartet of Ethernet ports.

Verizon claims that their new 4G LTE Router can be purchased from today onwards, where it will sport a $99.99 price tag, and it is accompanied by a two-year contract – after a $50 mail-in rebate of course, and if you decide to pick it up without any commitment would have to fork out $269.99. In addition, you can opt to throw in a Share Everything plan for another $20 monthly. [Press Release]

Bing Home Page Image Chosen To Keep Users Happy

Bing Home Page Image Chosen To Keep Users HappyGoogle had long occupied the top of the search engine hierarchy for some years already, when Microsoft decided to spruce up their search efforts by launching the Bing website four years back, and one thing that certainly made Bing stand out from Google’s site would be its front page that featured beautiful as well as different photographs every single day, and there are also moments when the front page uploads an HTML5-based animation to keep users interested and happy.

The thing is, what is the criteria for Microsoft’s team to select the right image for a particular day? The official Bing blog spilled the beans, as Microsoft’s Matt Wallaert stated, “While it may not increase your life satisfaction by helping you get something done, a quick look at Twitter and Facebook will tell you that it is a source of momentary delight for millions of people every day. The editorial team behind choosing the image carefully considers user happiness in every selection they make, working to maximize the surprise and delight we can get by simply taking a moment to explore our world visually.”

Guess the home page image was chosen to keep you happy, but I think that accurate search results would make you even happier.

Federal Agents Are No Match For Apple iMessage Encryption

Federal Agents Are No Match For Apple iMessage Encryption

Apple’s iMessage may be the playground for Anonymous to spread DDoS attacks, which coincidentally I was the victim of a few nights ago, but it seems the ability for the Drug Enforcement Administration (DEA) to eavesdrop on communications through its service has been posing quite the challenge for the organization.

According to a DEA intelligence note obtained by CNET, Apple’s iMessage service has made it “impossible to intercept iMessages between two Apple devices.” iMessage’s encryption methods were discovered while the DEA’s San Jose division were preparing a request to perform surveillance. Apple’s encryption made it difficult for agents’ ability to obtain the complete history of a person’s messages since it became apparent not all messages were being captured by carriers, such as Verizon who supplied the requested data to the organization. ASUS Unveils GeForce GTX 670 DirectCU Mini GPU For The Mini-ITX Computer Builder

ASUS Unveils GeForce GTX 670 DirectCU Mini GPU For The Mini ITX Computer BuilderWhile a good majority of gaming rigs then to be on the big, and borderline monstrous side, there are gamers who prefer a rig with a smaller footprint and choose to go for mini-ITX builds. If a mini-ITX build is something you’re interested in, it seems that the folks at ASUS might have a GPU that is right up your alley in the form of the GeForce GTX 670 DirectCU Mini. As you can see in the photo above, the particular variant of the GTX 670 is a lot shorter than the standard version, meaning that it should fit nicely into smaller computer casings.

Measuring 6.7” on its longest edge, the GTX 670 Mini will come with 2GB of VRAM and according to ASUS, they have introduced a copper vapor chamber placed directly on top of the GPU which is said to help with heat dispersal with 20% lower temperatures than the reference GTX 670. While not limited to mini-ITX builds, it will most definitely fit with regular cases, but we guess it was designed for smaller builds in mind. No word on how much the ASUS GeForce GTX 670 DirectCU Mini will cost, but if the regular GTX 670 is anything to go by, not to mention that it has since been shrunken down, don’t expect this to come cheap.

Google+ Emoticons Not An April Fool’s Prank

Google+ Emoticons Not An April Fools PrankWhat some might have thought to be an April Fool’s prank turned out to be the real deal, and it is always nice and pleasant to see initial “jokes” being reality. Google+, considered by some to be a rival to Facebook, being a “serious” social network of sorts, will now come with the added advantage of emoticons. Yes sir, in a Google+ post by Eric Murphy, he shared on how years of research by Google saw the team arrive at one indisputable conclusion – there is no better way to express one’s feeling online than through the use of emoticons.

Now, whenever you opt to upload a photo to your Google+ account, you will be able to take advantage of the emoticon option located right at the top. Press that button, and it will go ahead to analyze your facial expressions, while placing a relevant emoticon on your picture, and so far, initial experiments have proved that these emoticons were interpreted rather accurately. We do wonder whether Facebook will respond in kind, if ever. What do you think?
