Jeep Twitter Account Hacked, Gets Logo Change

Jeep Twitter Account Hacked, Gets Logo ChangeIt was just yesterday when we reported on Burger King’s official Twitter account being hacked early in the morning, and the pranksters there decided to tweet the entire world that the fast food chain was being bought over by McDonald’s. Well, a somewhat similar situation has occurred today, and the transportation industry is involved this time around, as Jeep’s Twitter account was hacked, with its logo being taken down and replaced by the Cadillac emblem.

Briefly earlier this morning, followers of Jeep’s Twitter account would most probably have been shocked to see the Cadillac emblem appear, no thanks to a group of mischievous hackers. Apart from the logo change, there was also a tweet that mentioned that Jeep had been sold to General Motors. It was sometime around 3pm when Chrysler regained control of their own Twitter feed, and said, “Thanks for all the heads up on one of our brand accounts. The team is on it. It’s good so many of you have our back!” Looks like the worst is over, huh?

What the World Would Look Like If Computers Were Human and Humans Were Computers

Can you imagine what the world would look like if humans were actually Apple computers and Apple computers were actually human? As in, computers are the ones getting excited for a new Human release (like how we clamor for new iPhones, etc.) It’s kind of Planet of the Apes-ish except instead of apes it’s just a world of robots. To be honest, I can get down with being a computer’s computer. More »

Digital Storm Bolt Is Thinnest Gaming PC In The World

Digital Storm Bolt Is Thinnest Gaming PC In The WorldI would like to think that Digital Storm’s claim that their Bolt is the thinnest gaming PC in the world is limited to those mass produced models, and not hand-crafted ones. Heck, even a custom made gaming PC chassis would be tricky if it were to measure 3.6 inches wide, so I guess that the Bolt does have its fair share of success to that claim.

In fact, Digital Storm has announced that they will be offering a Titan Edition of its award winning Bolt, and thanks to the inclusion of the spanking new NVIDIA GTX Titan (which is the world’s fastest graphics card), it will make use of similar technology that powers Oak Ridge National Laboratory’s Titan, which has been deemed to be the world’s fastest supercomputer.

How can something so slim remain cool operationally? This was made possible by the Bolt’s unique ventilation system, making the Bolt one of the only systems in its class that is capable of handling the powerful GTX Titan. There are vents located near each critical component, not to mention large top and rear vents that do their bit to eliminate any stagnant air remaining within the system, while there is also a dedicated air channel that was created by a slotted side vent to cool the power supply.

Having said that, the Digital Storm Bolt Titan Edition is not going to come cheap – at $2,499 a pop.

Apple MacBook Air Equipped with Retina Display [Rumor]

Apple MacBook Air Equipped with Retina Display [Rumor]

Yesterday we heard a rumor that Apple is considering putting  Retina display in the next generation of iPad Mini’s. Apple is now rumored to equip the MacBook Air with Retina display giving it a 2880 x 1800 pixel resolution. The new MacBook Air will be launching later in 2013, around the third quarter.  According to the rumor, both flavors of the MacBook Air, 11inch and 13 inch should sport the Retina display along with a slightly better looking body.

Apple began equipping the MacBook Pro laptop with a Retina display in 2012. Retina display is also available on the iPhone, iPod Touch and iPad. However adding a Retina display to the MacBook air could also add to its price, as the Retina display technology adds a bit of money to the overall cost of production. Apple has been keeping the entry level laptop priced at $999 for the 11 inch version, but this might change as well. The other major consideration isthe amount of power consumed by the Retina display and for that Apple will have to add a better battery to the laptop. For now we still wait on official word from Apple.

WSJ “Confirms” Google’s Retail Store Plans

WSJ Confirms Googles Retail Store PlansLast week we reported on a rumor that Google could be looking to launch their own chain of retail stores across the US, thus making Nexus smartphones and tablets as well as Chromebook devices available via traditional distribution channels. Now it seems that The Wall Street Journal has confirmed those rumors, indicating that they are true and that Google will be launching their own brick and mortar retail outlets, much like their competitors Apple and Microsoft. This will give customers a chance to try out new Android and Chromebook-related products all under one roof, as well promoting the usefulness or features of Google TV, and it seems that it could even be used as a venue in which Google Glass (Google’s wearable computer, for those unfamiliar) can be demonstrated to your average Joe in real life. Sounds like a pretty good idea but since Google has yet to make an official announcement, we will be taking this with a grain of salt for now.

Microsoft Outlook Arrives To Hotmail’s Demise

Microsoft Outlook Arrives To Hotmail’s DemiseA quick show of hands here – how many of you actually still have a Hotmail account, and are you still maintaining it, or is it full of spam? Well, after months of testing out Outlook.com in beta, Microsoft has finally deemed it fit to open up their new Web mail service to the masses. Apart from that, the Hotmail brand name which has been in service for so long, will no longer be in use, where users will be “upgraded”, so to speak, to the new Outlook.com service. However, fret not, as Hotmail users will still be able to retain use of their Hotmail email address.

Dharmesh Mehta, senior director of product management for Outlook.com and SkyDrive, said, “It’s not a light brand decision. I don’t know of any other company that has hundreds of thousands of users and has changed the brand name. But this is something new, an opportunity to set us up for the future.”

What do you think entire Hotmail riding into the sunset? Should Microsoft have retained the Hotmail brand after all this while?
