Microsoft Office 2013 box art leaked

Brace yourself, Microsoft Office 2013 is coming, and you know that you cannot wait to make that upgrade if your finances allow you to do so. So far, the box art for Microsoft Office 2013 does seem to have leaked out – obviously before the official announcement happened. It does seem as though what was leaked resembled a clean and professional design, where it somewhat matches the overall feeling of Windows 8 – at least, vaguely. Do bear in mind that the box art remains as a symbolic item, as there is no disc within. Basically, one will have to download Microsoft Office 2013 if you want to enjoy it as soon as it is made available over the Internet, although folks who prefer something physical will just have to wait it out for slightly longer.

Folks who picked the current retail version of Office 2010 from October 19th can receive a free copy of Office 2013 when it starts to ship in the first quarter of next year. Of course, just as a refresher, folks who picked up a new Windows RT-based hardware product on or after October 26th will also be able to enjoy a “preview” version of Office 2013.

Chrome Remote Desktop now out of beta and added with more features

Following its beta launch one year ago, Google’s Chrome Remote Desktop is now officially out with more nifty features. Among the new features added are real-time audio feed on Windows which will allow users, for example, to access music files remotely across computers and the ability to copy-and-paste between local and remote computers. In case you haven’t heard about Chrome Remote Desktop, it’s actually an extension that allows users to remotely access another computer through a Chrome browser or a Chromebook.

“One year ago, we launched Chrome Remote Desktop in beta. From adjusting printer settings on your mom’s computer to finding a lost file on your dad’s laptop, Chrome Remote Desktop has made you the family hero by helping you remotely access other computers — including your own — via Chrome. Now, we are taking Chrome Remote Desktop out of beta, by adding some additional features,” said Stephen Konig, the Product Manager for Google Chrome.

USB Futon Mouse pad warmer helps you prepare for winter

The bitter chill of winter will soon be upon us, at least for the folks living in the northern hemisphere. Trust the Japanese to come up with some pretty funky accessories for all of you desk-bound computer users, and this time around, we have the USB Futon Mouse pad warmer. Brace yourself, winter is coming – according to Lord Eddard Stark. Hailing from gadget mavens Thanko, the USB Futon Mouse pad warmer is said to be based on the “original” Japanese Futon concept, where it will even boast of a cushion that doubles up as a wrist rest.

It does seem that your hand will not have any issues keeping itself warm this winter, as Thanko did warn potential purchasers of the USB Futon Mouse pad warmer that it will be able to reach temperatures of up to 50 degrees Celsius ( 122 degrees F). Sure sounds as though it is a whole lot more comfortable than wearing layers and layers of clothing whenever the mercury drops. This does seem to shape up to be one of those weird and wacky Christmas presents that you can pick up for your family members or friends. Definitely not the thing for gamers, though.

Microsoft launches Windows Phone 8 companion app for Windows 8 and Windows RT

It was already rumored last month that Microsoft is working on a Windows Phone 8 companion app for its latest operating system. And with Microsoft’s Windows Phone 8 event just around the corner, the Redmond-based technology giant has just released the said companion app for Windows 8 and Windows RT. Essentially, the new app will allow Windows Phone 8 devices and computers running Windows 8 to work together seamlessly “so you always have your photos, videos, and music, and more where you want them.”

However, the app isn’t just about syncing music, photos, and videos. It also lets you share cool and interesting stuff from your phone, automatically save photos and videos from your phone to your PC, and check how much space you are using for each type of content – all without having to open the app itself. Do take note that the app only works with Windows Phone 8 devices. You can check out the app via the Windows Store.
