Healthcare.gov Hacker Accessed 70,000 Records In Under Four Minutes

Healthcare.gov Hacker Accessed 70,000 Records In Under Four MinutesHealthcare.gov problems have been well documented ever since the website was launched, and if that’s not all, it appears that there’s a gaping security vulnerability that is yet to be fixed. Even though back in November it was said that the website had been “fixed,” TrustedSec CEO David Kennedy believes otherwise. He was able to access 70,000 records within four minutes through a rudimentary attack that didn’t actually involve attacking the website itself, Kennedy extracted information from Healthcare.gov without needing to go into the system. The good thing about whitehat hackers is that they don’t exploit vulnerabilities to wreak havoc or for personal gain, Kennedy’s aim is to attract attention towards this vulnerability so that it may be fixed once and for all in order to avoid a future intrusion by hackers who don’t play nice. Lenovo Rumored To Acquire IBM’s Low-End Server Business

Lenovo Rumored To Acquire IBMs Low End Server BusinessLenovo is a company that is known for its computers, such as laptops, and it looks like the company plans on expanding its server offerings because according to a report from The Wall Street Journal, a person familiar with the matter tipped them off that the Chinese company might be interested in acquiring IBM’s low-end server business. This is apparently not the first time that such rumors have made their way around the internet as last year, Lenovo and IBM were apparently in talks as well although the negotiations fell through due to differences in valuation. Syrian Electronic Army Hacks Microsoft’s Office Blog

Syrian Electronic Army Hacks Microsoft’s Office BlogMicrosoft seems to be on the receiving end of the wrath of the Syrian Electronic Army recently, where their news Twitter accounts fell victim to. Apart from that, Microsoft’s Office Blog has been caught out by the Syrian Electronic Army (SEA) – and although the blog was defaced, it was quickly recovered by Microsoft. The screenshot above pointed to SEA putting out a bunch of posts that depicted how they have gained access to the blog, although many would not claim it to be a hack.

Mac Pro Shipping Times Outside The US Slip To March

Mac Pro Shipping Times Outside The US Slip To MarchEither Apple’s new Mac Pro have proven to be more popular than anticipated, or Apple is having trouble with production, but either way would-be Mac Pro owners are probably well-aware that some of them might be in for a wait. Last we heard those who ordered their computers online would have to wait until February and that in-store availability would only happen in March or April. However those are dates for the US, but it seems that Apple customers outside of the US have to wait even longer as new reports claim that Mac Pro shipping times for customers buying it online have been pegged for around March, meaning that customers will still be in for quite a wait.

The regions affected by this includes Europe, the Middle East, Africa, and Asia. Prior to this, Apple’s online stores had listed February as the estimated shipping time. However there are a lucky few in Europe who will receive their Mac Pros in February if they were quick enough to place their orders before Apple shifted the dates. It is unclear why Apple is taking so long to manufacture the new Mac Pros, but given that the new Mac Pros will be assembled in the US as opposed to China which Apple has done in the past, it could be that they are still getting up to speed. In any case hopefully Apple will get this under control and we can start seeing some more reasonable wait times.

HP Windows 7 PCs Are Back By ‘Popular Demand’

HP Windows 7 PCs Are Back By Popular Demand

Windows 8 wasn’t adopted as enthusiastically as Windows 7. The public has different opinions about the former, some dislike the touch UI and say that it shouldn’t have been introduced for desktop PCs, where some like the new UI changes that Microsoft has made. Microsoft might have relied upon OEM partners to push its latest Windows iteration through their products, which would definitely help in increasing adoption as well as shaping public opinion about Windows 8. However, HP has sided with the majority that favors Windows 7. The manufacturer says on the front page of its website that by “popular demand,” it has decided to bring back Windows 7 PCs.

HP hasn’t just brought back computers powered by Windows 7, it is actually offering an incentive to customers who opt for these PCs. Up to $150 in savings are being offered to customers who purchased a computer with the last-generation OS instead. This move by HP isn’t that surprising to be honest, with rumors circulating that internally Microsoft employees refer to Windows 8 as “the new Vista,” this was bound to happen at some point in time. We all know how badly Vista performed in the market. Recent rumors also suggest that Microsoft might talk about Windows 9 at its BUILD conference in April, with a possible release in April 2015. The company is reportedly looking to give up on the Windows 8 brand and start afresh.
