Apple Reportedly Readying OS X 10.9.1 Update

Apple Reportedly Readying OS X 10.9.1 Update

Earlier this year at its Worldwide Developers Conference, Apple announced OS X 10.9 Mavericks. This is the first time in years that Apple has not named a major OS X release after a big cat. That’s not the only change that has been made. Mavericks brings as many as 200 new features and improvements. Since WWDC 2013, Mavericks has only been available to developers. Apple is yet to roll it out to the public, who are without a doubt anxiously waiting for it. It appears that Apple is already readying OS X 10.9.1 update which is expected to be released soon after Mavericks goes live.

Last friday Apple seeded the GM build of Mavericks, after which it was reported that the team has now moved on to developing OS X 10.10, the next major OS update that’s expected next year. Rumor has it that Apple has internally seeded a number of OS X 10.9.1 builds to its employees. It is not expected to bring any major features, only bug fixes and performance improvements are likely to be onboard. A rumor suggests that perhaps OS X 10.9.1 might bring the ability to block iMessages and FaceTime calls from certain contacts, though there has been no confirmation of that as yet. Apple hasn’t provided a concrete release date for OS X Mavericks, though it is believed that the launch will take place towards the end of this month through the Mac App Store.

Bing Offers Tested In SeattleIn April this year, Microsoft did reveal Bing Offers, which is a shopping coupon and sales service that enables users to be able to hunt down the best discounts possible from local as well as national retailers. How has that effort gone so far? Well, Microsoft did announce a new pilot program today which will hopefully offer consumers a faster and more efficient method of taking advantage of such special Internet deals. Dell Wants You To Upgrade From Windows XP ASAP

The writing has been on the wall for quite some time for Microsoft’s venerable Windows XP operating system already, but this does not mean that folks have taken the step to make an upgrade from that reliable OS to Windows 7 or Windows 8. Perhaps one would need more convincing to make the upgrade jump, and Microsoft has done their bit to make sure that large businesses “get the message” in order to upgrade from Windows XP to Windows 7 or Windows 8 prior to the support deadline of April 8, 2014. It seems as though the folks over at Dell, too, want to do their bit in promoting Windows XP users to make the operating system upgrade through a new ad that you can see above.

This particular clip does seem to be targeting IT managers specifically, especially those who have delayed on their respective companies’ Windows upgrade plans. The animated video touts that workers in the IT department are able to leave the upgrade process to Dell’s Windows Migration Services, where it is touted to help businesses save both time and money – something that the higher management always loves to hear, regardless of how their own Windows XP upgrade plans are at right now.

Windows Phone And Windows RT To Merge Over Two Years [Rumor]

Windows Phone And Windows RT To Merge Over Two Years [Rumor]

Rumor has it that Microsoft might be planning to merge Windows Phone and Windows RT over the next two years. Such a titanic feat can not be done overnight, that’s for sure. Apparently Microsoft will slowly merge both Windows Phone and Windows RT by releasing three regular GDR or General Distribution Release updates per year, for the next two years. The execution of this move will reportedly be seen by Terry Myerson, who is the newly promoted executive vice president of operating systems at Redmond.

Windows Phone and Windows RT are not the only two things that Microsoft is reportedly merging. Recently we reported that it is possible Microsoft might merge Windows Phone Store and the Windows Store, this move is expected to be completed by spring next year. This decision was reportedly confirmed by Myerson himself at Microsoft’s internal company meeting which took place last month. It is possible that the merger of both stores into one single store might be the starting point for bigger things, such as Windows Phone and Windows RT. Apparently Myerson’s going for this merger in order to boost Microsoft’s mobile presence in the market. It remains to be seen if Microsoft will end up with different UIs for different screen sizes, if it decides to merge the user interface of Windows Phone and Windows RT. Microsoft has not commented on this rumor as yet.
