For those of you who’ve been living under a rock, Valve this week announced the Steam Machine – a video game console which runs entirely on the new Steam OS. That’s not even the most interesting part, either – the OS is free.
Folks, this might be just what the console industry needs.
Dyson Inc.,
which specializes in machines that inhale and
exhale, like vacuum cleaners and fans, prides itself on the number of
attempts its engineers make to get to perfect. On average, it’s around
5000 prototypes to one finished product. I don’t know how many
prototypes went into each of the flying machines created by the Dyson
engineers for this year’s Challenge Dyson, but they sure came up with some strange-looking ones – all made from Dyson product parts.
Sixense – the same folks responsible for the development of the Razer Hydra – earlier this month announced a new VR sensor system that, quite frankly, makes the Hydra look a little bit old-fashioned. It’s called the Sixense STEM, and it allows you to take full-body control of your video game.
The next time you go to the bathroom, you might end up charging your phone in the process. Researchers at the University of Bristol and the University of West England have discovered a means of powering up a cell phone using a stream of urine; a technology known as "microbial fuel cells."
