The Jedi Putter’s Constant Feedback Makes You a Master of the Green

Mastering the perfect golf swing is a lot harder than it looks, and putting is even harder than blasting a golf ball down the fairway. So while it will probably never be approved for use in PGA tournaments, the Jedi Putter—designed by students at Rice University—provides real-time feedback helping an amateur golfer master their putting game.

Flippypad Concept Shows How Project Ara As A Handheld Gaming Console

Flippypad Concept Shows How Project Ara As A Handheld Gaming ConsoleGoogle’s Project Ara is unique in the sense that it allows users to swap out certain components for another component, so for example if you wanted to upgrade your phone’s camera, you’d just have to swap out the part for something else, as opposed to having to buy an entirely new phone. That being said we’ve seen how Project Ara can also be linked to wearables, but what about gaming?

In a concept cooked up by designer Samuel Herb, it shows how thanks to the modularity of Project Ara that it is possible to create a device for gaming as well. Dubbed Flippypad, it shows how third-party OEMs could create gaming shells or specific gaming modules that could be attached to the device, thus turning it from a smartphone into a handheld gaming console.

The concept also shows how the shell could incorporate features such as shoulder buttons which are pretty rare as far as gaming accessories for mobile phones are concerned. This could open up the door to different types of games that could take advantage of that feature. Unfortunately like we said, this is only a concept at the moment but its designer is hoping that the word will spread which will hopefully be able to grab Google’s attention.

It’s clever and while we’ve yet to see how well modular smartphones will do in real life, we are definitely excited at the possibilities and this is one of them. In the meantime what do you guys think? Do you think this is something Google should explore and take seriously?

Additional iPhone 6 Concept Renders Surface

Additional iPhone 6 Concept Renders SurfaceIt’s only April but yet we’ve come across a fair amount of leaks, rumors, and alleged photos that supposedly shows off what we can expect from the next-gen iPhone. Of course none of this can be officially confirmed right now but thanks to the folks at French website, Nowhereelse.fr, they have teamed up with renowned designed Martin Hajek to create some additional concept images of what the next-gen iPhone could look like in a case.

As you can see in the image above, the design looks more or less the same as per previous designs, which we guess are mostly based on the allegedly leaked schematics of the iPhone. However this time it shows what the phone could look like if it were kept in a case and it is a pretty sleek affair.

In fact it seems that the schematics are showing off a design that is reminiscent of the design of the iPad Air and iPad mini which once again is a good thing as both devices are pretty sleek and have a very slim profile. The rendering and the cases also shows off the possible relocation of the power/wake button which has been moved to the right hand side of the phone, versus the top right hand corner.

Other than that it’s pretty much what we’ve come to expect from the iPhone so far. Of course there’s no way of telling if Apple will really design the phone to look like the renderings, but we can only hope that they do, or perhaps they might even surprise us with something better. In the meantime what do you guys make of these designs?

Volvo’s Inflatable Child Seat Concept Fits in a Backpack

Volvo's Inflatable Child Seat Concept Fits in a Backpack

At one time the military actually tried to develop inflatable planes that were strong enough to fly, but easy to transport. Those never materialized, but the technology involved—a drop-stitch fabric that can be inflated to very high pressures—has enabled Volvo to create an inflatable child car seat that’s just as safe as everything already on the market.

More iPhone 6 Concept Renders Based On Leaked Schematics

More iPhone 6 Concept Renders Based On Leaked SchematicsA while back we saw some schematics that allegedly belonged to that of the upcoming iPhone 6. Whether those schematics are right on the money remains to be seen, but in the meantime we’ve also seen some renders being created based on said schematics.

Recently the folks at MacRumors have decided to try their hand at creating renders based on the schematics as well and have commissioned designer Ferry Passchier to come up with some designs that would look like they could belong to the final product, and as you can see in the image above and below, it certainly looks pretty good. iPhone 6 Concept Based On Alleged Leaked Schematics

iPhone 6 Concept Based On Alleged Leaked SchematicsRemember the other day we saw alleged schematics of the iPhone 6? Well we’re sure many are wondering how an iPhone might look like if those schematics are the real deal, so French website Nowhereelse.fr and designer Martin Hajek have thrown together a couple of concept renderings to give us a taste of what’s to come.

Based on the alleged schematics, it shows off a very thin iPhone. This is somewhat believable as Apple has in the past attempted to slim down every new version of the iPhone that they are putting out in the market. (more…)
