Mab Cleaning System Concept

Mab Cleaning System ConceptIf there is one thing about concepts that everyone absolutely loves, it would be this – the apparent ability to perform the seemingly impossible at that point in time, without being limited by any kind of laws of physics or other perceived ceilings. It allows one to think out of the box, and then retroactively work on the solution to what we have today. Case in point, the Mab cleaning system from a certain Adrian Perez Zapata, who happens to be a 23-year-old Colombian college student with the dream to make cleaning house a simple task.

This particular concept would see a spherical hive of small flying drones into your home, where the “hive” itself has been specially designed to work as not only a charging station for the drones, but also as one of the options for you to dispose of your home’s refuse. The drones would not fly around as and when they please, but rather, will be released at pre-programmed times, so that they need not get in your way when you just want to relax in the living room without any more disturbances. The moment these drones take to the air, they will perform multiple trips around the home, ensuring that grime and other kinds of dirt are removed from their supply of cleaning fluid that is obtained from a reservoir located atop their hive. Of course, this remains but a concept at the moment, so it might never even be realized in this generation.

Color-Changing Ink Ensures These Syringes Are Never Re-Used

Color-Changing Ink Ensures These Syringes Are Never Re-Used

Vaccines can be a vital way to stop the spread of disease in some parts of the world. But in underdeveloped countries, it turns out that the syringes used for vaccine injections are re-used again and again, which actually results in the spread of other dangerous conditions. To discourage this, Dr. David Swann of Huddersfield University in the UK has developed a syringe that turns bright red after use, serving as an obvious warning not to use it again.

    Acer Extend Prototype Spotted

Acer Extend Prototype SpottedThe folks over at Engadget have managed to spend some time with the Acer Extend prototype, where it surprisingly (or not, depending on your viewpoint) functions in a similar manner as that of the ASUS Padfone. Basically, the Acer Extend allows you to hook up your smartphone to a clamshell-style dock that will be equipped with a display, in addition to a keyboard as well as a rather generous 6,000mAh battery which works great to recharge your handset, too.

The demonstration saw a modified version of Acer’s Liquid E2 smartphone being hooked up to the Extend dock using an MHL cable, although Acer representatives did mention that a market-ready version could eventually arrive with a retractable cord in tow, although we are not going to rule out the possibility of a wireless, Bluetooth-based solution either. The Extend Dock comes in handy if you want to be even more productive with your smartphone, but do not really need the full power of an Ultrabook to get the job done. In a nutshell, it is pretty much a niche market this, but those with enough disposable income might be able to add this to their growing gadget collection. Do you think that this niche device will be able to take off?

Plexus Concept Shirt Will Change Based On The Occasion

When it comes to outfits, there’s usually an appropriate outfit for every occasion, such as one worn for sports, one for work, one for formal meetings, and etc. However if you’re the sort of person who’s schedule is packed to the max, constantly changing seems rather inefficient, not to mention it could rack up a pretty expensive laundry bill, so what do you do? Well the Plexus concept could be the answer to your problem. This shirt concept was designed by Vernon Chen and Joanne Lim Jin Xuan where the shirt will be able to morph into an appropriate look based on the occasion.

The designers imagine that shirts of the future will be held together via pixelated nano-particles and will be able to adapt to the wearer’s surroundings. In the video above, the shirt morphs from a casual running shirt to a coat/shirt/tie look. Granted the final result is hardly the most appropriate for formal business meetings, it is still a pretty awesome concept nonetheless. Of course it is safe to say that this shirt does not exist yet, but what do you guys think? Perhaps switching from casual to formal isn’t the best idea, but if you’re looking to switch up design or colors during the day, the Plexus shirt concept might do the job.

    Volvo Concept Coupe Unveiled

Volvo, many times often dubbed to be the world’s safest car, has certainly moved away from its boxy look for some number of years now, sporting sleek designs and beautiful curves along the way. Well, we are glad to bring you a video of the Volvo Coupe Concept from the Swedish vehicle manufacturer, where it boasts of a bold new design direction from Volvo Cars. The Volvo Coupe Concept is characterized by daring proportions, a new face and an interior that would not fall short of your expectations, boasting exquisite craftsmanship and innovative technology.

The Volvo Concept Coupe would be the first of a series of three concept cars, where all three of them are individual methods of representing the next generation of Volvo models. The Volvo Concept Coupe is also said to be the first car that will be built on Volvo’s new Scalable Product Architecture (SPA), liberating Volvo’s designers from the limitations of previous cross-brand platforms. The Volvo Concept Coupe looks starkly different from other older models, where there is a new topography on the bonnet alongside a ‘floating’ grille, which will be flanked by new T-shaped DRL headlights. Is it me, or do you think that cars on the road these days tend to look very ‘angry’?

Monza Concept Car Features LED Projection Dashboard

Monza Concept Car Features LED Projection DashboardDashboards have proven themselves to be an important – nay, indispensable part of any vehicle. After all, that is where drivers would be able to obtain first hand information about what is going on with their rides, ranging from warning lights to the speed as well as rev of the engine. The dashboard design has remained more or less stagnant for many years already, but the introduction of digital displays in dashboards have opened up a whole new world of possibilities – some might even say infinite, but I guess you can call it a far more creative manner of displaying the different information to the driver. A new concept car known as the Monza by Vauxhall will ditch the traditional dashboard, but will instead feature a single, modular LED projection display that also doubles up as an integrated infotainment system.

All the relevant details including driving information, navigation, communication and entertainment will be presented as and when required on this LED projection display that takes up the entire dash and center console. Vauxhall intends to popularize the idea of presenting only the information that is requested by the driver at any one time. For instance, if the driver wants to know more about the weather, the entire dash will display all sorts of relevant information, and even better is the fact that all you need to do is speak aloud of what you want to see on the dashboard, and voila! It will appear there and then. All controls will also be mounted on the steering wheel for old school folks who want something more tactile to press.

Are These Tear-Away Surgical Gloves Actually Safer?

Park Bomin, Jung Sumi, and Chu Yeunho won a Red Dot Design Award for what they believe to be a big improvement to the surgical gloves used in hospitals. The trio’s Safe Cut Surgical Gloves feature a pull tab that not only makes the gloves easier to remove, but also prevents them from ever being reused—intentionally or not—which helps prevent the spread of disease.

Squarephone Concept Gives Respite From iPhone 5S News

While we have seen and read our fair share of news about the iPhone 5S, here is a concept to take your mind away from it for a while – the Squarephone. I don’t know about you, but the name might be cause for consternation for some folk, as STUDIO BÄRIG’s Squarephone might make others laugh at you for being “square”. Jokes aside, just how great would the Squarephone concept be? Will it truly be able to change the way we look at phones if it were to be released as a real world device?

Well, watch the video of the Squarephone above and share with us your thoughts on it. It is basically a device with a bezel-free screen and bendable display, sporting a slightly concave side body that intends to deliver a far better grip – especially for all of your butterfingers out there. A quartet of speakers and a carbon fibre shell ensures that it is more durable than adamantium – I jest, theoretically, it would be more durable than a combination of glass and aluminum. And considering how some folks tend to miss the good old days of their BlackBerry, the Squarephone, too, does not believe that the actual keyboard is dead. One display is always facing you thanks to the twistable segments, coming in handy when you want to shoot selfies, while the Squarephone also offers a couple of modes for text input. Whenever you want to stash the Squarephone away, just fold it into a nice pocket-sized device and you’re good to go.

This Flexible OLED Camera Can Snap One-Shot Panoramic Photos

Taking panoramic photos was once a time consuming process of carefully snapping a series of shots and then manually stitching them back together in Photoshop. Today it’s as easy as just panning across a vista with your digital camera or smartphone, but researchers at Queen’s University’s Human Media Lab have come up with an even easier solution: a flexible camera that captures panoramic images in a single snap.
