Gmail For Android Concept Offers An Amazing Re Imaging Of App

We’ve seen concepts for upcoming versions of iOS, upcoming iPhones and even shoes that talk to you, but one thing we haven’t seen much concept love for is the Gmail app, especially on the Android platform. But that’s exactly what we’re going to feature in this story as an Android developer has gone ahead and delivered an impressive concept for everyone’s favorite email application.

Android developer and developer Paul Burke published a set of photos to his Google+ page which takes a look how the Gmail for Android app could be made better. Burke imagines a Gmail application that offers a simple and elegant interface which incorporates all of contacts and makes the experience more intuitive by reorganizing your inbox. Don’t fall in love with this Gmail concept too hard as with the majority of concepts, they’re just a re-imagining of a product and in no way represent what companies plan to do with them in the future. In this case though, we hope Google is paying close attention to this Gmail for Android concept.

The 3D Printed Headphones You Can Build Yourself

The 3D Printed Headphones You Can Build Yourself

3D printing opens up all sorts of possibilities, one of them is being able to build your own pair of headphones that don’t require any line built parts. A designer J.C. Karich is behind the concept, which doesn’t need more than some open source designs, raw materials and a 3D printer. Surely not all of us have a 3D printer lying around, but those who have one, should definitely try this out.

The body of these lo-fi headphones was 3D printed and speakers were created by coiling a copper wire in to a groove that was built in to the printed casing. On the opposite side of the casing, the magnet is placed. The headphone jack is also 3D printed, connections are made by wrapping a wire around the plug, which too has been printed. The build is not rickety and the sound is surprisingly good, Karich says that the sound is “beyond all expectations.” To play music from devices such as an iPod, the headphones require a power amplifier. Lo-fi in both build and sound, regardless, this makes for an awesome project.

Heineken Ignite Will Make Your Beer Interactive With LEDs

We’ve seen alcohol and LEDs come together in the past as LED ice cubes were introduced as a way to curb over-drinking, and it looks as though Heineken will soon be bringing its brand of beers to the modern age with their Heineken Ignite concept.

The concept was introduced at Milan Design Week and equips Heineken beer bottles with LEDs and motion sensors to create what they’re calling the first “interactive beer bottle.” The Heineken Ignite will light up during various portions of your night out as it’ll activate when cheering with someone else or pulse while taking a drink. The LEDs in the bottle will even react to its surroundings as it will put itself to sleep when not in use as well as synchronize itself to the music. (more…)

The Audi Motorrad Is An Audi-Ducati Inspired Concept Motorbike

The Audi Motorrad Is An Audi Ducati Inspired Concept MotorbikeBack in 2012, Audi acquired Italian motorbike manufacturer Ducati under their Lamborghini arm, and with the acquisition, we guess it’s only fair that many are wondering if Audi has plans to start manufacturing motorbikes of their own in the future. While that may or may not happen, or if Audi will be content to let Ducati continue what they are doing, some designers have come up with an interesting and sleek concept of what an Audi-manufactured motorbike might look like.

Dubbed the Audi Motorrad, this concept was designed by Thibault and Marc Devauze, along with modeler Clement Couvreur. Based on its design, we’re guessing that this concept is targeting BMW who makes motorbikes as well, possibly giving them a run for their money. According to the designers, the Audi Motorrad will feature a Ducati-derived 850cc, L-Twin 4 valve-per-cylinder, Desmodromic 2-cylinder engine along with a double-clutch gearbox. The body of the bike will also be taking advantage of Audi’s technology and will combine carbon fiber with light alloys.

Not being a bike rider myself I can’t really speak for its potential comfort or power, but from a purely aesthetic point of view, it looks pretty good. What do you guys think?

NASA Proposes To Capture An Asteroid To Learn How Better Earth’s Defenses

NASA Proposes To Capture An Asteroid To Learn How Better Earths Defenses

Considering a 10-ton meteorite crashed into Russia this past February, we think it’s about time NASA starts studying asteroids to help keep us informed about their potential risks. NASA is announcing that exact project will be happening by the end of the decade as they plan on capturing a small asteroid and wrangling it back to Earth’s vicinity in order to stage manned visits to learn more about asteroids.

The mission’s overview is based on NASA’s long-range goals of advancing technology development, providing opportunities for International cooperation and helping scientists better learn how to protect the Earth if a large asteroid was ever found to be headed our way. The program will also help NASA develop the navigation and execution of deep space operations, which will be needed for eventual manned flights to Mars.

Concept City Sweeper Can Haul Garbage, Sweep Streets And Plow Snow

Considering how much pollution we amass on a daily basis with our vehicles alone, you would think having a separate truck to sweep our streets, plow snow and haul away our tons of garbage seems pretty archaic. That’s why designer’s Michał Markiewicz seems like an extremely logical solution to the insane amount of trucks which are currently specific to the jobs mentioned.

Markiewicz’s Multifunctional City Sweeper is one truck that is able to perform the duties of three separate trucks as it’s able to be a street sweeper, garbage truck and snow plower all at once. Considering both street sweepers and snow plowers just sit in a garage until their respective season comes, the Multifunctional City Sweeper could be used all year round as it could sweep in the morning, haul away your garbage in the afternoon and plow snow when needed. iOS 7 Concept Reimagines Lock Screen, Text Messaging And More

iOS 7 may be running behind schedule, but we’ve seen some amazing concepts over the past couple of weeks that have certainly made us excited about all of the possibilities for the future of iOS. We’ve seen some concepts that suggest a new app switcher as well as being able to resize icons and widgets, but the iOS 7 concept we’ll be featuring today is kind of a generalized concept that helps improve a number of areas of iOS.

The concept featured above was created by Ran Avni, which he imagines an iOS 7 that features an improved lock screen, text messages as well as the addition of OS X’s mission control feature. The best part of Avni’s concept is it doesn’t seem too far fetched to include in iOS 7 as many of what Avni suggests in this concept doesn’t seem too complicated to use, which we know is one of the major bullet points for Apple and their iOS devices. Simplicity is king in Apple’s mind and we certainly think Avni’s concept is both simple and extremely useful.

Low-Budget iPhone Concept Reminds Us Of The iMac G3

Low Budget iPhone Concept Reminds Us Of The iMac G3We’re sure many are wondering what Apple’s low-cost iPhone could look like. Obviously it will not feature premium materials like aluminum on the iPhone 5, but ceramic was a material rumored to be used. In any case designer Nickolay Lamm has come up with his own take of what the budget iPhone could, or should, look like. For those who have been using Mac computers from back in the day, you might see some striking resemblance to the iMac G3 computers. For those who aren’t familiar, they were the iMacs which sported translucent bodies and came in a variety of bright and colorful designs.

Could we be seeing Apple release such a…whimsical looking device? While this is merely a concept, the recent lineup of iPod touch devices do come in a variety of different colors, so seeing Apple take the more colorful route might not be such a stretch of the imagination. Either way this concept looks pretty good, but what do you guys think? Would you mind owning an iPhone that looked like that?
