iPhone 6 Concept Video Surfaces

There is nothing quite like having a concept video appear for a particular device, especially when you know that this particular device is going to be a hot ticket item by the time it hits the market. It is a safe bet to say that any generation iPhone is going to garner plenty of attention, and with the upcoming iPhone 6, we have seen in recent times that the rumors are starting to pile up thick and fast. Here is not quite a rumor, but rather, an idea from a fan as to how the iPhone 6 might look like as depicted in the YouTube video above.

Apple iWatch S And iWatch C Concepts Spotted

Apple iWatch S And iWatch C Concepts SpottedThere has been plenty of speculation about a possible iWatch from Apple, and we have also reported on how the iWatch is allegedly facing manufacturing issues, facing a fair number of obstacles of its own as well. Well, why not go the whole nine yards by working on a concept of the (as of right now) mythical iWatch? The above is a conceptual render of the iWatch S, and whenever there is an iWatch S, you know for sure that the iWatch C is not too far behind.

This latest bunch of concept renders do make the iWatch look a whole lot like an iPhone, which would not be too far out of place. After all, it is the same company that churns out the iWatch, and we cannot wait to hear an official announcement concerning a smartwatch from Apple. After all, do you think that Apple would release something that might snatch away the spotlight from its bread and butter on the mobile front – the iPhone? So far, some rumors surrounding the iPhone 6 (as it is called at the moment) have already appeared. Do you think that an iWatch would actually be separated into two different categories like the current generation of iPhones?

    ZTE Eco-Mobius Prototype Spotted

ZTE Eco Mobius Prototype Spotted[CES 2014] ZTE has come up with its fair share of devices in the past, especially smartphones and to a certain extent, tablets, but what they have done with this proof-of-concept known as the ZTE Eco-Mobius is equally interesting, or perhaps even more so. While this particular concept does look interesting on the CES showfloor, it does not seem as though ZTE has any intent to fully commit themselves to the Eco-Mobius project in any particular manner. Rather, the whole idea of the Eco-Mobius would be to showcase just how a modular smartphone might look like, as well as how it might all come and fit together.

With the ZTE Eco-Mobius, it depicts just how the “core” modules are all able to be swapped out. And when I mention “core” modules here, I’m really serious – it includes the likes of a camera, CPU, GPU, RAM, and ROM. The whole idea behind this modular capability is to reduce the amount of waste by enabling individual pieces to be replaced, instead of purchasing a whole new smartphone yet again after a year or two. What do you think of the idea of a modular smartphone, and should it be extended to the world of tablets as well? Image courtesy of The Verge.

Volvo Concept XC Coupe To Debut At Detroit Motor Show

Volvo Concept XC Coupe To Debut At Detroit Motor Show Concepts are always interesting to play with, since many boundaries are broken down and you do not really need to figure out all the limitations that are available in the real world. Having said that, working concepts as well as prototypes, too, give confidence to the masses that something equivalent can roll out sometime down the road. The folks over at Volvo have announced that the Volvo Concept XC Coupe will be the second in line of three concept cars that will make an appearance at the Detroit Motor Show. In fact, the Volvo Concept XC Coupe is said to be inspired by modern high-tech sports equipment as a “sophisticated, capable and safe car for people with an active lifestyle”.

The Volvo Concept XC Coupe will come across as a two-door, four-seater ride, where it will seemingly share an extremely strong bond with its sibling Volvo Concept Coupé. As for its larger 21-inch wheels, more accentuated wheel-arches as well as taller roofline, those would tend to end up making the entire ride look a whole lot more robust with a fuller, capable representation. Good thing there are no more Twilight movies in the pipeline that will function as Volvo advertisements! Do you like what you see above?

iOS 8 Infinity Shows What Could Have Been If Google Had Designed The Icons

iOS 7 looks great and it is a refreshing change from the same iOS look that we have been used to seeing for the past few years. However there are some who aren’t overly excited about the new changes Apple has made to the operating system, claiming that it looks cartoony and too bright. With that being said, will Apple be taking these comments into consideration in future iOS builds? Apple has been known to stick to their guns so it’s quite hard to tell, but thanks to a new concept for iOS 8 called iOS 8 Infinity by designer Nico Achkasov, it has us yearning for some changes in future iOS updates that will hopefully be more in line with what Achkasov has created.

Upon first glance it might look like much and it might not look like Achkasov has changed much, but at the same time there is a slightly more toned down feel to the entire operating system which exudes a more “serious” vibe versus iOS 7’s design which can come off a little whimsical. This is because Achkasov has taken some design cues from Google’s icon design for its iOS apps, where a little bezel/shadow is added to the base of the icon that not only maintains its flatness, but at the same time gives it a little more “life” as well. In any case it’s just a fun concept and if you have a minute to spare, check it out in the video above.

So what do you guys think of Achkasov’s subtle changes to Apple’s operating system? Yay or nay?

Samsung Galaxy S5 And Galaxy Note 4 Concepts

Samsung Galaxy S5 And Galaxy Note 4 Concepts It has been “confirmed” not too long ago that the Samsung Galaxy S5 will be making its way to MWC that is happening in Barcelona later next month. Well, having said that, it was also recently that Samsung has submitted yet another design patent which first saw light in August last year. Originally speculated to be the Samsung Galaxy Note 3’s design, it was no longer the case when the actual Galaxy Note 3 was introduced recently. Hence, what we see above could very well be the next generation of the Galaxy S series, which is the Samsung Galaxy S5, as well as the Galaxy Note 4 by extension.

What you see above happens to be the design based on the patent applications that were given some creative injection thanks to a certain Ivo Maric, having come up with such a concept. Similar to the sketches in the patent application, Maric’s smartphone or phablet would include a curved display on each side of the device. Just bear in mind that conceptual models would remain just that, a concept, until the real deal is released. All in all, we should expect the Galaxy S5 as well as the Galaxy Note 4 to be revealed to the masses later this year.

BMW i8 Key Fob Concept Is Pretty Futuristic

BMW i8 Key Fob Concept Is Pretty FuturisticCar keys are something we don’t really give much thought to, although we suppose if we had the car key pictured above, well you can be sure we’d never stop talking about it. Pictured above is a concept key fob belonging to the BMW i8, which for those unfamiliar, is a concept hybrid vehicle that was unveiled back in the 2009 Frankfurt Motor Show. The car’s design, even from 4 years ago, remains futuristic looking even today, and we suppose its key fob is no different. While this is a concept, it is apparently an official concept which was shared by a BMW insider with the folks at Bimmerfile.

While most key fobs come with a few buttons to unlock/lock the car, pop the boot, or sound the alarm, this key fob does that and more. It is said to feature a high resolution LCD display that will be able to display a variety of relevant information to the owner. For example it will be able to tell what is the range left in the car before requiring a recharge, or how long left before the car is fully charged, and etc. The key fob will also feature a handful of buttons that can be customized according to the user’s needs, making it a lot more handy than your regular key fob, although we can only imagine how troublesome and expensive it would be to lose it.

This is currently a concept and BMW has yet to officially confirm its existence, but in the meantime what do you guys make of it?

NKD AQUA POD Filters And Supercharges Your Water

NKD AQUA POD Filters And Supercharges Your WaterWhenever you travel to a foreign country, it would be highly advisable to purchase bottled water to drink from as you make an effort to quench your thirst. After all, you can never quite tell just what kind of nasty stuff that flows from the local tap, and this is where the Kickstarter project known as the NKD AQUA POD come in. The NKD AQUA POD boasts of the ability to be able to transform ordinary tap water into pure mountain quality spring water even as you take a sip, touting to be a revolution in water filtration.

It does not seem all that new as I have seen those fix on filters to taps before that claim the same thing. Basically, the NKD AQUA POD comes with an easy -to-change patent pending filter that will do its job in getting rid of the nasty chlorine taste and odor without having to carry forward the gritty carbon taste that normal carbon filters tend to “share” after the filtration process. Apart from that, the NKD AQUA POD claims to be able to filters out 99% of bacteria and heavy metals from municipal tap water. Assuming this bad boy makes it to the market, would you pick one up for yourself? [Kickstarter Page]

Windows 8.2 Concept Sees Modern UI On The Desktop

Windows 8.2 Concept Sees Modern UI On The DesktopEarlier in the week, we did report that Windows 8 Threshold might see the return of the proper Start menu experience, but that remains a rumor even until now. Of course, until something official comes out, we are stuck with the pseudo-Start button in Windows 8.1, but this has not stopped other more enterprising and imaginative folks from working on what could possibly be down the road. 20 year old designer Jay Machalani has thought up of what Windows 8.2 could look like, where it comes with the well loved Start menu, not to mention a seeming success in the integration of both Desktop and Start screen interfaces.

Machalani, a self-proclaimed “UX/UI & Branding Architect”, has spent a few months working on a future Windows design, touting that he loves Windows 8 personally, thinking that it is “the best OS for productivity and awesomeness” despite being “filled with massive flaws.” The conceptual Windows 8.2 interface comes with a Modern look and feel, where Machalani shared, “You can make it bigger or smaller, pin your apps and live tiles, resize them, get a quick access to the Classic apps Jumplist (loved that feature from Windows 7), access the notification center, settings, power options and search. It makes sense.” Do you hope that Microsoft would go in this direction?
