Hammer In Hand Allows Straphangers To Break Windows With Ease

Hammer In Hand Allows Straphangers To Break Windows With Ease

Commuters know just how dangerous their travels can be if they find themselves in a bus, subway or train that has stopped functioning properly or there’s an absolute emergency, forcing you to leave through a window. Many forms of public transportation have ways where passengers can simply push out a window, but if those aren’t functioning properly, you’re going to have to break a window or two. That’s where the Hammer in Hand concept comes in. (more…)

Willie Bus Concept Might Change City’s Landscape In The Future

Willie Bus Concept Might Change City’s Landscape In The FutureDon’t you just love the kind of freedom associated with concepts when they are thought up of without any of the restrictions of the real world? Want to make a concept of a smartphone? That’s easy, assuming you are using some sort of arc reactor equivalent technology that means your smartphone need not be charged throughout its entire lifetime. Well, a certain Tad Orlowski has come up with the Willie bus concept that he hopes will be able to change city landscapes in the future.

And how will a humble bus be able to do that, you ask? Simple – the bus itself will feature a frame that is specially contorted into a slew of shapes, allowing it to create “an impression of restless energy attempting to cut through the unblemished surface of the glass.” The glass happens to be a screen in this case, and it will be able to also be used to show off digital advertisements that can then be rotated and updated, depending on a frequency of the bus company’s preference. Of course, it does not seem as though the Willie bus is going to enter production anytime soon, but to have it light up a city? That’s a winner in our books for sure.

Honda’s Smartphone Case N Comes With Air Bags

While Honda might be primarily known as a manufacturer of vehicles, the Japanese company has started to take an interest in smartphones lately, and while Honda does not appear to be planning a smartphone of their own, it does appear that the company has thought about protection and have created a concept case for smartphones known as the Case N. This venture by Honda seems pretty serious, although at this point in time it is merely a concept and we doubt Honda has any plans to put it into production, and more importantly we’re not sure who might need such as casing.

The Case N by Honda is basically a box for your smartphone where upon you dropping the phone to the floor, the sensors in the case will be able to pick that up and deploy tiny air bags made from the same material that you can find in your car’s air bags! The protection is a little exaggerated and we can only imagine how troublesome it would be to repack the air bags every time you accidentally drop your phone to the floor, but it’s still a pretty interesting idea, albeit rather novel. Like we said we can’t tell if Honda is merely trying to be funny or if they’re seriously demonstrating a concept, but if you have a few minutes to spare, you can check out the Honda smartphone Case N in the video above.

Plate Cooker Concept Could Safely Reheat Frozen Foods All At Once

Plate Cooker Concept Could Safely Reheat Frozen Foods All At Once

The holidays are officially here, although if you don’t have any immediate family or friends to share some holiday moments with, it certainly could get lonely. As lonely as you may feel, one thing is for sure and that’s the fact no one should have a cold meal, that is, unless you’re having a sandwich or salad. But if your meal is supposed to be hot, then the Plate Cooker concept is something you’re probably going to hope becomes an actual product.  (more…)

Mobiliant Concept Vehicle Can Climb Walls

Mobiliant Concept Vehicle Can Climb WallsYour other half might claim that he or she will move mountains just for you, but seriously, how are they going to do so? At least if they tell you that they will climb up to your apartment window every night to blow butterfly kisses onto your cheek, that might be more doable – especially when the conceptual Mobiliant ride comes to pass. The Mobiliant is the brainchild of SAIC from China, where it has also picked up the winner’s gong at this year’s L.A. Auto Show. This is a single seater ride which was specially designed to open up new ways of traversing through an urban environment, where it is capable of climbing walls so that drivers can arrive directly in front of their high rise apartments and offices.

It sounds rather destructive in nature, but how does the Mobiliant scale walls without damaging the building itself? It will make use of C.L.A.W.S., an acronym for Cilium Layer Advanced Wheel System. These wheels will rely on nano-scale cilia technology which can be adapted to any surface easily, where it increases its grip upon the road regardless of whether you are headed up or down. There will also be internal stabilizers that ensure the cockpit remains level, enabling drivers to remain just fine while driving up the wall. Don’t you just love concept cars?

WitStar Concept Car Comes With A Fish Tank Inside

WitStar Concept Car Comes With A Fish Tank Inside We have seen our fair share of conceptual cars in the past, but this time around, this particular conceptual car is something worth checking out, although I don’t think that it would be too practical in places like the desert or in hot tropical countries. At China’s Guangzhou Auto Show, the WitStar happened to be a fully autonomous vehicle that comes with swiveling front seats, accompanied by massive gullwing doors as well as a dashboard that comes with its fair share of displays. Oh yeah, did we mention that it comes with a fish tank as well?

The reason that the WitStar comes with a fish tank is to prove just how safe autonomous driving can get. Guangzhou Auto believes that a crash would no doubt result in the fish tank shattering, so if you have a fish tank within, all passengers in there should have a sense of relief and safety, or so the line of reasoning goes. It does make me wonder whether there will be a separate battery to power the filters and air pump in the fish tank, at the same time finding a way to keep the water inside cool even when you are parked out under the scorching sun for hours on end so that your fish will remain alive after you have completed a hard day’s work.

A Paper Shopping Bag That Transforms Into a Hanger Back Home

A Paper Shopping Bag That Transforms Into a Hanger Back Home

If you get lucky, the clothing store where you bought that new sweater or shirt might toss in the plastic hanger it was on free of charge. Otherwise, you’ll have to scrounge one up yourself—at least until this wonderful redesign of the shopping back becomes a reality. With a few folds the Hangbag transforms into its own hanger, strong enough to support everything short of a lead-lined suit.

Toyota FV2 Concept Vehicle At Tokyo Motor Show

Toyota FV2 Concept Vehicle At Tokyo Motor ShowDon’t you just love the fact that there are concepts around which are worth looking into, especially when they could change the world for the better if they were to be made real? Assuming this statement is agreeable to many, then the Toyota FV2 concept vehicle is definitely able to turn heads after being announced at the Tokyo Motor Show 2013. It does raise a few eyebrows (and of course, questions) for those who have actually laid eyes on it the first time, including how one is able to steer it. Apparently, you do so while standing, shifting your body weight accordingly in the direction where you want to go.

This is not the ride to bring when you are about to meet your date and want to drop her off at her place or have her drop by your home after dinner, since it carries only one. Good thing the Toyota FV2 will distribute your weight across all four wheels, which have been specially arranged in a cross layout. One of the wheels will be in front, while two primary wheels remain underneath the “driver”, with one more behind. Expect the slew of touchscreen displays to come in handy when configuring the different modes of the Toyota FV2, and there is also a raised windscreen which purported doubles up as a augmented reality display apart from from acting as a shield against bugs from smashing into your face as you amble along. How many of you would love to see the Toyota FV2 enter production?

Sign Language Ring Concept Will Help Translate In Realtime

Sign Language Ring Concept Will Help Translate In Realtime

We recently took a look at LEAP READER, which is a device that’s currently in development that helps those of us who don’t read sign language understand those that only have it as their primary form of communication. If you are going to be doing a lot of sign language in the future, you may want to actually learn the language, or at least help in understanding someone who is deaf or hard of hearing. Luckily, the Sign Language Ring has been conceptualized to hopefully help all of us someday. (more…)

    ESTOLAS Aircraft Hovers And Flies

Have you ever watched science fiction movies, where the future featured flying vehicles where everyone seemed to be able to keep to the right of way without any accident happening? That is a true miracle, especially when you take into consideration how on our normal roads alone, one would be able to find at least an impatient driver who weaves in and out of traffic, wedging his or her car into whatever space possible without bothering to wait in line like the rest of us. Well, imagine translating that kind of attitude to a flying car – disaster awaits. Still, I am quite sure that many people do look forward to the day when there is a flying car, and perhaps the conceptual hybrid which is the ESTOLAS aircraft that is currently being developed by the European Commission could be the first step in such a direction.

ESTOLAS happens to be an acronym for Extremely Short Take Off and Landing On any Surface, ensuring that the name of this ride itself is pretty much self explanatory. It will merge the traditional elements of an airplane, a hovercraft, a helicopter and some might even point out, that of a blimp. Imagine the ESTOLAS being able to land on just about any flat surface, including water and snow. The military would definitely be more than interested in such a project.
