Swing Anywhere with the Door Frame Swing

Don’t have a playground nearby? No backyard? Not even a tree that you can attach a tire and rope to? Well, that’s downright sad, but dry those eyes. This door frame swing is here to help.
indoor swing
The indoor door frame swing can be set up on most door frames to give your kid hours of fun. I’m not sure how safe it is, but they say it holds “in excess of 100 lbs.” Your kid may end up on the floor a few times, but that’s a small price to pay for bringing the playground indoors, right?

It will cost you $55.99(USD) from Amazon. Just watch it as you walk around your home. You kid might slam into you and knock you down the stairs on his upswing.

Pokéball Replicas Are Super Effective at Catching Money

Have you ever wished you could capture your pet and train them as your Pokémon? Then take a look at these 3″ Pokéball replicas. Really, just look at them, because that’s all they’re good for. They don’t even open. They’re really shiny though.

pokeball replica by pallet town exports

These Pokéballs are made not by the Poké Mart but by a shop called Pallet Town Exports. They will be available in six types, but for now the shop only has images of the regular Pokéball, the Premiere Ball and the Ultra Ball. The other three will be replicas of the Master Ball and Luxury Ball, plus a 1.5″ version of the regular Pokéball.

As you can see in the images, the replicas have light-up switches and can be customized with either a clean or battle-worn look. Do Pokéballs battle?

Choose your wallet and go to Pallet Town Exports to order. If you want to be the very poorest trainer that ever was, you can also order the shop’s trainer belt replicas.

3D Printed Final Fantasy VII Characters: Materia-lized

Final Fantasy VII was the first game in the FF series to have 3D graphics. Those graphics probably look laughable now, but the squished low polygon rendering of the characters make for really adorable figurines. Look! It’s freakin’ Biggs and Wedge! Well, Gaia’s Biggs and Wedge.

The figurines were designed by Joaquin Baldwin and are printed using full color sandstone. All of the main heroes are included along with some of the villains and many of the secondary characters, including Sephiroth, Zack Fair, a Moogle, a Chocobo and the Turks.

Ride on Cid’s airship and head to Shapeways to order the figurines. They cost between $13 to $32 (USD) each. One funny thing about this set is that Joaquin seems to have priced each figure based on the amount of material needed to print it. This means Cait Sith and the Chocobo are the priciest ones, even though Cloud, Sephiroth and many others in the set are more popular than those two. The cheapest of course is Barrett’s kid Marlene.

Sisters Build Their Own Mars Rover

Two North California sisters, inspired by a documentary, decided to make a Mars Rover by themselves with help from their dad Robert Beatty. Now, 13-year-old Camille Beatty’s and 11-year-old Genevieve’s remote-controlled replica of the Mars Spirit rover is being exhibited at the New York Hall of Science. Great job kids.

These two sisters have been tinkering with remote-controlled toys for awhile. They are a real dynamic duo and have made around 15 robots. They know what they are doing. Visitors of the exhibit can drive the rover on a simulated Martian surface and search for light-emitting rocks using the rover’s infrared camera, sonar sensors, thermal array sensor and other cool gizmos.

The point behind the project was to get kids interested in science. Well, this is one that will get both kids and adults interested in science.

Custom Pacific Rim Crimson Typhoon Action Figure: Go Modded or Go Extinct

This custom 7″ action figure of the Crimson Typhoon wasn’t made by triplets. It was modded by toymaker/jaeger meister/apocalypse canceller John Mallamas aka Jin Saotome.

Jin modified NECA’s official action figure of Pacific Rim‘s Chinese mecha to make it more poseable and attractive. He replaced its arm hinges and added ball joints on its ankles. He also replaced the hands using parts from Transformers action figures and made a plasma blast prop for its left hand. He also installed an LED on its eye and added a ton of sculpting detail. Finally, he repainted the entire toy, adding details like wear and tear.

Jin put the action figure up for auction on eBay, but it’ll most likely be gone by the time you read this. But he’s also going to sell custom action figures of Pacific Rim‘s main mech Gipsy Danger as well as of the Knifehead Kaiju, so watch out for those on his deviantART page. He should make his own take on a mecha-Kaiju.

An Even Bigger Big Wheel for Adults

We recently saw the High Roller, which is a Big Wheel for adults. It was big, but not this big. This Big Wheel is truly enormous. Like “Get the hell out of my way!” big.
giant big wheel
This massive custom built Big Wheel is being sat upon by commercial and music video director Keith Schofield. Imagine the drifting he could do on this beast. The horns are a nice touch. You would need them for sure, to make sure that others get out of your way as you barrel down a hill, gaining speed. He built this crazy thing for a commercial he directed recently for car maker Škoda. You can see it in the clip at about 15 seconds in:

Great job, Keith. You are the kind of man who makes dreams come true for all of us big kids.

High Roller, a Big Wheel for Adults

It’s too bad that we all abandoned the simple joys of riding a Big Wheel when we were young. Well, we no longer have to live without the exhilaration of the low-rider trike, no matter what age we are. This is the High Roller. It is a $600(USD) Big Wheel-style trike made for specifically for adults.
high roller trike 1

Awesome. Take my money and point me toward the tallest hill. It comes with an adjustable seat for riders from 5’2″ to 6’6″ tall and up to 275-lbs. It also has a front brake, a bell, tassels, and plastic rear wheels for drifting. Everything you love about the Big Wheel is here – just now you can fit your big ass on it.

Now maybe we can get some adult Big Wheel racing action going. I wonder how long it takes for the wheels on this one to wear down to nothing.

SEGA Game Gear LEGO Transformer: Sonic in Disguise

Behold the evil Segacon “Gearhead” and his minions Supersonic and Knucklepunch. Baron Von Brunk created these awesome LEGO Transformers from scratch and they look amazing.

When not in robot mode, this guy transforms into a SEGA Game Gear handheld, and even has two Sonic games inside (Sonic the Hedgehog and Sonic Blast).

Gearhead has battery blaster rockets attached to the shoulders and a shotgun cannon powered by Chaos Emeralds. He fully transforms without having to remove parts and converts back and forth easily.

The two minions are pretty awesome too. At first glance you might think that he used an actual Game Gear to make this, but these it’s all LEGO with some custom labels attached. Amazing work, Baron!

Pac-Man Yahtzee… It’s Driving Me Crazy

Pac-Man and Yahtzee are two of my favorite childhood memories. Both games provided endless hours of fun (and frustration) so what could be better than a game that combines the two?

pac man yahtzee

The Yahtzee Pac-Man Collector’s Edition plays just like regular Yahtzee, but the dice faces have been replaced with ghosts and fruit. And the shaker. Well, the shaker is the best part of the game. It’s Pac-Man himself.

So what are you waiting for? Roll yourself five blinkies and head on over to Amazon, where you can grab the Pac-Man Yahtzee set for $24.99(USD).

LEGO Steampunk Batcave: Na na na na na na Choo Choo

Flickr member/playboy/billionaire Jonas aka Legopard made this funny alternate take on Batman and his secret headquarters. As with many LEGO builds, Legopard’s Steampunk Batcave rewards those who give it a closer look. The wooden Tumbler is hilarious.

Then there’s sir Bruce Wayne, with his tophat, cane and cape. Like a pimp.
