Here’s another story about another cool dad. Where were all of the cool dads when I was growing up? Why are dads so cool now? Why do we never hear about granddads doing cool geek stuff? All I know is that this kid is super lucky. The kid in this video not only has a Fisher-Price Power Wheels Lightning McQueen, but he worked with his dad to make some cool modifications.

It started off as a slow boring toy 3 years ago, but little Evan’s ride now has metal rims with rubber tires, an aluminum back half chassis, dual sealed gel batteries with an output of 24 volts, a 500 watt .66 horsepower electric motor, disk brakes, throttle modulated variable speed control with reverse and Sparco battery cut-off switch. Drones are a hot piece of tech these days, whether you’re a kid or an armed force. Rich kids and rich armed forces, that is: for instance, the popular Parrot AR.Drones sell for $250 to $300 (USD). Lucky for us, Brando stopped being weird for a second and got a hold of a cheap alternative.

Brando describes the UDIRC remote control multicopter as follows: “The Perfect Flying Object with this New Design Technology, The Most Stable (like the real?) Floating in the AIR. The Special Design of the One Press Button, which can make the UFO to Somersault in the Air. This RC UFO is powered by a Small piece Battery that is fueled with the USB External Dual Charging Box; therefore, UFO can Fly Never Stop with this Unlimited Power Supply!” Yeah. Still weird.

Because it doesn’t have a camera, fancy smartphone controls or good looks, the multicopter’s price is the good kind of weird: Brando is selling it for just $50(USD). That’s a steal for a quadcopter, but for a quadcopter with unlimited power supply? It’s the heist of the century.

Did someone run over your bike? Did your boyfriend (or girlfriend) cheat on you? Did you tell your kid brother not to mess with your stuff, only to come home and find him reformatting your laptop?

Before anything else, don’t throw a fit. Don’t get angry, don’t scream, don’t yell, and don’t bang things on your way out. Instead, go up to your room, take out your Dammit Doll… and let all hell break loose.

I know stress balls are supposed to calm you down when you’re steamed, but how are you supposed to release all that anger and frustration when you’re supposed to squeeze those darned things?

I think that most of us probably wanted to live in a tree house at some point when we were growing up. I know when I was a kid I wanted to live in a giant redwood like an Ewok so badly that I could barely stand it. A couple LEGO builders named Sean and Steph Mayo (aka Siercon and Coral) have designed what they called the Faerie Forest out of LEGO, and it reminds me of that forest on Endor that I dreamt of years ago.

The tall, thin trees with the LEGO homes around their trunks are very cool. When you look at the first image of the entire scene from a distance, it’s very hard to tell all the intricate work that went into the design.

Once you look at the close-up images and see how much work was put into each of the tree houses and the river, it’s even more impressive.

The scene is filled with tiny fruit trees, gardens, and lots of little people living out their Minifig lives. I wonder how long it took the duo to build this enormous LEGO diorama.

I’ve seen plenty of LEGO cars and trucks over the years. I always appreciate attention to detail when it comes to building a vehicle out of LEGO blocks. A guy named Alex Jones (aka OrionPax) has created an awesome LEGO low rider that looks like it’s straight out of a Cheech and Chong movie. The car is called “The Hob” and has tons of features that you can’t see in the photograph.

The car has fully functional (simulated) hydraulics, working lights, RC hardware, chrome, and has an integrated MP3 player with a speaker. That means you can play Low Rider by War as you cruise The Hob around your living room on three wheels.

You have to check out the video of The Hob to see what it can do for yourself. I wonder how the builder designed the motion system to make the car move around. It appears to be constructed completely out of LEGO down to the frame rails.
