There are very few stadiums in the world that leave you truly speechless when you walk in. Maracanã is one of them. The other one is Real Madrid’s Santiago Bernabéu, the best club of the 20th century. The famous coliseum is getting a major remake. It looks like a spaceship about to start abducting people.
It sucks to be a villain. Not just because you’re destined to lose to the hero but because when you do lose, you lose everything, including your stupid awesome villain hideout slash lair slash headquarters. Why couldn’t you just lose a little bit and get to keep rolling around in the Death Star? Why can’t I live in my Dr Evil Volcano with all of its amenities? The secret headquarters of villains are always amazing. Here’s a pretty list showing you which one was biggest and baddest.
It’s pretty hard to make Batman jealous. The dude has enough money for an entire world, gadgets to play with everyday, a secret cave to hang out in, dashing good looks and beautiful companions to take out to dinner. But here’s one thing you can have that’s better than Batman’s: a fully returning Batarang in real life. It’s beautiful.
San Francisco is fantastic. I’m admittedly biased because I live here, but behind all the headlines of late—skyrocketing housing prices, burgeoning class war, tech bubble 2.0—it’s still chock full of weird, wonderful, and just plain beautiful stuff. Marc Donahue from PermaGrin Films turned his sights on the city for "I Left My Heart," an impressive timelapse that shows SF from all the best angles.
In 2016, a new kind of space shuttle will rise to the skies atop an Atlas V rocket. Developed by a private company—the Sierra Nevada Corporation—it would be able to ferry seven astronauts to orbit and back. Its name is the Dream Chaser and this video shows its (spectacular) development progress so far. A fine spaceship indeed!
This is one of the coolest buildings I’ve seen in a long time: a structure designed to turn everyone into Spider-man by allowing people to climb all over its interior and exterior. It kind of feels like a glitch in the Matrix: a computer-generated mountain that needs more polygons and some textures.
Like ducks in a row, five C-130 Hercules aircraft lined up before taking off at Yokota Air Base, Japan. That’s one intimidating traffic jam to be in. The picture was taken for the US Air Force by Senior Airman Cody H. Ramirez on their Instagram page.
Brooklyn-based photographer Zack Seckler took to the skies over Botswana in an ultra, ultra, ultra-light aircraft to take these incredible pics of native wildlife doing its collective thang. From less than 500 feet up, he was able to capture zebras, cows, and vegetation that are so beautifully composed they look like they’re part of a painting.
Make sure you keep Lisa’s ears close to her eyes and nose but also make sure the nose line is perfect and overlapping the eye. Also, don’t forget to keep a streamlined curve to the face and keep the eyes round. This is important! Lisa Simpson, an iconic cartoon character as there is, is instantly recognizable anywhere because of the details put into drawing her. These instructions, which first appeared in Simpsons Illustrated years ago, reveals how detailed a cartoonist needs to be.
Imagine looking up on your daily commute and catching this crazy visual trickery in the sky! Yesterday, Youtube user melkiy582 captured a massive halo of light was seen around the sun on the horizon in Moscow—a cool atmospheric phenomenon known by an even cooler name: Sundog.
