Corsair’s New Force LS SSDs Unveiled

Corsairs New Force LS SSDs UnveiledOne of the great things about SSDs is that they’re pretty speedy when it comes to reading and writing data, and if you were in the market for a new SSD for your computer, Corsair has unveiled their new Force LS Series SSD that will arrive in three different storage capacities. The new SSDs by Corsair will come in a 2.5” form factor and will measure a pretty thin 7mm. It will utilize Toshiba’s 19nm NAND flash memory and will also use Phison SATA 6 Gb/s controllers instead of the LSI SandForce controllers, which had been previously used in Corsair’s lineup of SSDs.

The new SSDs offered by Corsair boast read and write speeds of 555 MB/s and 535MB/s respectively. It will also support TRIM, garbage collection, SMART functions, along with built-in dynamic and static wear-leveling algorithms. The LS series SSDs will come in three sizes as previously mentioned, which includes 60GB, 120GB, and 240GB. It is apparently ready for purchase via retailers and will be priced at $69.99, $109.99, and $199.99 respectively.

Visualized: Intel’s Haswell Core i7 overclocked to 6.88GHz on an ASUS motherboard

Visualized ASUS overclocks Intel's Haswell Core i7 to 688GHz

After winning yesterday’s Corsair Overclocking competition at Computex, the same folks were brought over to ASUS’ ROG event earlier today, where they overclocked an Intel Haswell Core i7-4770K from its typical 3.5GHz to a staggering 6.88GHz — just a tad less than yesterday’s 6.98GHz — on an ASUS Maximus VI Extreme motherboard. As a bonus, the DRAM frequency was also pushed to 4.1GHz, which is believed to be the fastest yet on Haswell. As usual, the overclockers poured liquid nitrogen onto the chip every now and then to keep it cool, thus giving us the above photo opportunity.

Corsair announces Vengeance K70 gaming keyboard with customizable backlighting

Yes, Corsair is making keyboards now, and they have been for a little while. Their latest creation is called the Vengeance K70, and they just announced it to along with the previously-announced Vengeance headsets. Essentially it’s a fully-mechanical keyboard that comes with customizable backlighting, which in this case means that you can control the lighting for each key independently.

Screen Shot 2013-03-22 at 12.11.34 PM

The K70 is a slight upgrade to the K60, and is just a bit on the lower end compared to the company’s beastly K95 keyboard. However, the K70 still sports a lot of nifty features. The WASD and the 1-6 number keys are coated in Cherry MX Red and are textured for maximum grip during the heat of the battle. These keys are also contoured more so than the other keys, that way you can find them quickly without having to look down.

Corsair claims that the K70 sports a fast and accurate response rate at 1,000Hz, and it can support up to 20 keystrokes at once, which is probably overkill in most gaming situations, but it’s a feature that will always be nice to have in case you need it. The chassis of the keyboard is made out of brushed aluminum, so durability should go a long way here.

Other than that, it looks to be the same ole song and dance: multimedia buttons, extra USB ports, and a removable wrist rest. The K70 will be available starting next month for $130, and you’ll be able to choose from two different color schemes; silver with blue backlighting or black with red backlighting.

Corsair Unveils Vengeance K70 Mechanical Gaming Keyboard

Corsair Unveils Vengeance K70 Mechanical Gaming KeyboardWhile a good keyboard is no doubt a pleasure to type on, there are companies out there such as Corsair who pride themselves on creating gaming keyboards designed for gamers, supposedly helping to take their performance to the next level. Whether that’s just pure marketing hype or if it actually makes a difference will depend from user to user, but if you’re in the former camp, you might be interested to learn that Corsair has announced their latest gaming keyboard, the Vengeance K70.  This keyboard is the successor to the K60 and will sport the same Cherry MX Red mechanical switches.

The main difference over the K60 is that on the K70, each individual key has a backlight of its own and can have its intensity adjusted in four different levels, or be independently enabled or disabled. As expected of most mechanical keyboards, the K70 will feature a 20-key rollover (meaning that it will be able to read 20 simultaneous key presses at once, not that you’ll ever need it though), a 1000Hz reporting rate, contoured keycaps for the WASD keys, an brushed aluminum frame and a detachable wrist rest. The Corsair Vengeance K70 will be available this April and will be priced around $130.

Digital Storm Hailstorm II gaming PC brings torrential TITAN downpour

This week as we roll through NVIDIA’s GPU Technology Conference and hear of the latest innovations in graphics processing prowess, we’ve heard a thunder strike – the Digital Storm Hailstorm II, a massive monster of a gaming PC. This beast has four distinct levels of excellence, ranging from a single GeForce GTX 680 all the way up to three – count them – three NVIDIA GeForce GTX TITAN GPUs for face-blasting graphics processing excellence. This set of builds is bordering on absolutely insane as the home gaming universe ramps up to a place where you’d have to be no less than tattooed with dedication to having the most powerful set of specifications – here you’ll go wild!

    Hailstorm_II_01

With the Hailstorm II you’ll have space for four radiators, four GPU units, and two CPUs. That’s one massive amount of space on its own – then you consider how it’ll all be blasting forth with the components Digital Storm is quoting here as out-of-box builds, you’ll find your fingers sweating. With the Hailstorm II, you’ve got the first appearance of the Corsair Obsidian Series 900D, a monstrous black tower with a big window on the side so you can view this futuristic wallet-crushing collection for yourself.

    Hailstorm_II_04

Inside you’ve got a liquid cooling system with three front intake fans and a lovely large rear exhaust fan to keep the air running through. If you’d like, this build allows you to ad an absurd 15 fans in total – so much freaking airflow you’ll have to wear a jacket.

    Hailstorm_II_08

Up front you’ll find a lovely brushed aluminum front panel that’ll open up to show you a vast number of expansion slots – ten expansion slots in all, with room for up to nine hard drives or SSD with three hot-swappable mounts, four 5.25-inch optical drive bays, and more! You’ll have two USB 3.0 ports for super quick transfer, four USB 2.0 ports for all your peripherals, and, just incase you’re an over-the-top expander, the ability to work with two power supplies on the back.

    Hailstorm_II_02

If that weren’t enough, you’ll find that each unit has gone through a 72-hour stress-test by Digital Storm, this including industry standard testing of the hardware and software as well as a proprietary testing process in place to detect any and all components that show the potential to fail in the future – you’ll be set!

    beast

The system builds you’ll be working with are as you see above, each of the prices reflective of the beastly innards they contain. You’ll find that each of these systems uses fabulous Intel CPU power with the Core i7 across the board as well as NVIDIA GPUs. As noted, this is one of the first systems to work with the NVIDIA GeForce GTX TITAN GPU, and you’ll be able to knock it up to 3x SLI NVIDIA GeForce GTX TITAN at 6GB – intense!
