Your Dog’s Halloween Nightmare: Dog Rider Pet Costumes

I agree with the old adage that dogs really are man’s best friend. Since best friends goof around together all the time, I don’t think your canine buddy would mind if you dressed him (or her) up in some funny rider costumes this Halloween, right?

Dog RiderAnd by rider, we mean harness-type accessories that’ll make it look like someone (or something) is riding your canine. From monkey jockeys to headless pumpkin horsemen, I’m willing to bet you’ll find something fitting for your four-legged buddy.

The best thing with these ‘costumes’ is that they’re probably a whole lot more comfortable than the usual pet costumes that you can find in stores today. You know, the ones that look like human clothes that require wrapping your pooch in full-body get-ups that’re probably as uncomfortable as they look.

DigitalDudz Turn T-shirts into Awesome Halloween Costumes on the Cheap

Last year, NASA engineer Mark Rober shared his cool see-through iPad costume with us, but while it was one of the more clever geeky costumes I’d seen in a while, it wasn’t exactly cheap to pull off – you needed a pair of iPads to do it. Well now Mark and his buddies have come up with a spin-off on his original concept, which lets you create fun animated Halloween costumes using any iOS or Android device.

idudz eyeball costume

DigitalDudz is an an app, which when combined with the appropriate t-shirt and some duct tape, creates some brilliant animated costumes. Most of the designs feature some sort of moving eyeball effect, which is quite creepy. Here, check it out in action:

And if eyeballs aren’t your thing, there’s always the iWound, a custom-made latex insert with bloody details, which when paired with the “beating heart” mode in DigitalDudz is about the goriest thing you’ll see this Halloween (especially if you place the heart somewhere unusual on your body – like your arm or leg.) There are also animations of maggots, snakes, spiders and gears if you’re going for some sort of steampunk look.

Pretty creative, huh? And with the app going for the grand price of FREE, you can definitely put together a cheap Halloween costume with DigitalDudz. The matching t-shirts sell for $23.50(USD), but you can always just use the app with your own t-shirts too. Grab the iOS app here, and the Android version here. The iWound latex insert sells for $34.50.

Star Wars Supreme Edition Darth Vader Costume

So you have more or less run out of ideas on what kind of costume to wear for this coming Halloween season? Well, instead of playing on the sense of fear and dread with blood and plenty of make-up, how about becoming the embodiment of fear itself in the Intergalactic world as the Dark Lord of the Sith, Darth Vader? This is made possible thanks to a black faux leather jumpsuit with molded body armor, where it was molded straight from Lucasfilm studio designs for that added touch of authenticity. The thing is, the Star Wars Supreme Edition Darth Vader Costume has one major drawback – its price point of a whopping $999.99.

Still, if authenticity is right at the top of your list compared to other features, then you know for sure that the Star Wars Supreme Edition Darth Vader Costume is worth every penny that you forked out for it. It is as real as it gets, and to add to the realistic factor, you would do well to purchase your own lightsaber, although I do not think that banks are right now giving out loans to construct a Death Star.

Animatronic Admiral Ackbar: It’s a Costume!

Admiral Ackbar is the only fishhead in the Rebel fleet who can smell a trap from miles away. That makes him one of the smartest characters in the Star Wars galaxy. Anyone would be proud to dress up as the Admiral on Halloween, but your costume won’t be as cool as this one.
ackbar
I present to you the most amazing Admiral Ackbar costume ever. Built by a guy named Mr. Bungle, this costume has actual facial expressions for when you need to alert others of a trap. The head and gloves were each custom molded then loaded with electronically controlled servo motors for realistic movements. Check Ackbar out in action in the video clip below.

Your Rebel force will be in good flippers for sure if you’re wearing this costume.

Steampunk Predator Helmet: One Ugly (But Safe) Motherbleeper

What if the Predators attacked London in 1849? Well, tea time would have to wait, but also, the Predators might have worn cool Steampunk helmets like this one. Imagine how cool it would have been for one of them to take off this thing and show it’s hideous face underneath

This badass helmet was created by Skunkworks Props, and yes it’s actually wearable. The helmet itself weighs about 2lbs and is cast in fiberglass and finished with waxes, airbrushing and metal rubs. I can just see Arnold saying, “You are one ugly mother…, but your helmet is amazing!”

This helmet even surpassed the creator’s expectations and it is a true work of geek art. If you ever see someone wearing this, run.

Life-Sized Animatronic Baby T.Rex: Crush, Crumble and Cosplay….

How would you like to have your own animatronic T.Rex costume this Halloween? That would be awesome. Why would you ever take it off? This life-sized baby dinosaur would scare everyone in your neighborhood.

Party like it’s 67 to 65.5 million years ago and shake your tail. This costume is a 16″ foot long animatronic dinosaur suit that was made by 3DWizart Sculptures. As you can see, the details are simply amazing and scary. It has cable driven eyes, mouth and neck that deliver smooth realistic movements.

Okay, so in the video it looks a little silly with human legs underneath, but it also looks really badass. Hey, it’s better than your costume. This costume will eat you whole and poop out your costume.

Darth Vader Pinafore: Dress Like a Dark Lord in this Dark Dress

Darth Vader was about as masculine as bad guys can get. But why shouldn’t female cosplayers be able to dress up as the Dark Lord too? With this Darth Vader pinafore, now they can.

Artist Amanda Marin of Darling Army makes this outfit that’s got a combination of an apron-style pinafore with a matching black cape attached in the back. It’s been done up with all the appropriate control buttons/indicators on the front, so even if you choose not to wear a Vader helmet to go with it, everyone will know exactly who you are.

If you’d like one for yourself, you can grab the Vader pinafore over on Etsy for $95(USD). While you’re in her shop, be sure to check out her other outfits, which include a TARDIS and Red Dalek pinafore among others.

By the way, does anyone know what the heck all those things on the front of Vader’s outfit did? If they controlled his health system, couldn’t a Jedi just have used their mind tricks to push one of them and shut off his respirator? Just wondering.

Buzz Lightyear and Ninja Turtle Balloon Costumes: Pop Goes the World

Halloween is still a month away, but I think it’s never too early to begin stocking up on ideas for awesome and unique costumes. At least this way, you can avoid dressing up as a slutty whatever if you don’t find anything good at the costume rental shop anymore.

But did you ever think of making up an entire costume by using balloons? Yeah, I figured you didn’t too. But the guys from Balloon Distractions did, and they ended up looking pretty awesome.

They came up with Buzz Lightyear and Ninja Turtle costumes that were put together using twisted-up balloons and the results are nothing short of amazing.

Check out Buzz Lightyear, who can really go to infinity and beyond (until someone comes along to pop his balloons):

And here’s a balloony Michaelangelo who likes to yell, just because he can:

Spock Dreams of Uhura In This Starfleet Uniform Bra (B-Cup Me up, Scotty!)

Every time I think that the guys over at SceeneShoes have run out of ideas for more geeky braziers, they come up with another. Previously, we had some Nintendo and Pokemon bras, followed by a TMNT bra, and then an Xbox 360 controller bra. Now, we’ve got a bra designed to look like a Starfleet uniform.

starfleet bra

While not as outwardly sexy slutty as those latex Trek uniforms, this Star Trek bra can actually be worn underneath other garments, and only revealed when you want to show off your goods to your Captain or First Officer. From the design, I’m assuming this is based on the uniforms from The Original Series. I suppose that’s a good thing, because with the newer uniforms, that would mean you’d have to touch your boob in order to activate your communicator. Awkward.

The (unofficial) Starfleet bra is available over on Etsy for $30 to $40(USD) depending on size, and is not (yet) available in red.

Epic Dragon Slayer’s Armor Would Scare Dragons off Before You Could Slay One

Now I’m not a big cosplayer myself, but I can definitely appreciate quality costumes when I see them – and this one is a doozie. What you’re looking at here is an incredible leather armor getup that’s sure to scare the crap out of anyone who comes your way.

epic dragon slayer 1

The Dragon Slayer’s outfit was designed and created by Nathan Rodriguez of Epic Leather, which wins the “truth in advertising” award for the month for its brand name. All told, the outfit consists of 13 separate pieces, including a two-part mask, custom gauntlets, wrist covers, and awesome shoulder pauldron and a deadly looking vambrace.

epic dragon slayer 2

The whole kit is available over on Etsy for $3999.99 (USD) – which isn’t cheap, but when you consider the craftsmanship in this outfit, I think it’s worth it. All I know is if I saw someone coming at me wearing this fiery-looking outfit, I’d high-tail it out of the place – even if I were a dragon.
