Crytek promises to “melt down PCs” with Crysis 3

It is no secret that Crytek’s Crysis franchise has been pretty demanding when it comes to computer hardware requirements, and while the game is playable even on its lowest settings, what gamer can say no to the ability to set the game on ultra and enjoy it as it was meant to be? That being said, the upcoming Crysis 3 should be no different from its predecessors and we expect it will be just as demanding but just as visually astounding, if not more so. Crytek’s boss, Cevat Yerli, seems to think so as well and was quoted during an EA Livestream as saying, “That joke will be resurrected again with Crysis 3, I’m quite sure about that […] There are brutal expectations around the PC version of Crysis 3. So this time we promise to melt down PCs.” So gamers are you prepared to have your PCs melted, or do you have a new and awesome monstrous gaming rig planned out for the upcoming game?

Crytek reiterates that they are not working on Crysis 3 for the Wii U

Crysis 3Back in April, Crytek’s Rasmus Hoejengaard stated that Crysis 3 for the Wii U was not in the cards, but later gamers gained a little bit of hope when Crytek’s producer, Mike Read, stated that Crysis 3 for the Wii U was not completely out of the question and revealed that they were working with Nintendo. However whether their collaboration with Nintendo was Crysis 3 or another game entirely remains to be seen. Now it seems like the folks at Crytek are back again and this time they are confirming once again that they are not working on Crysis 3 for the Wii U. This was revealed by Crytek’s General Manager, Nick Button-Brown via Twitter. So if you were planning on getting the Wii U, it looks like Crysis 3 might not be making its way onto the console anytime soon, although we guess we can take some comfort to learn that Crytek is at least working on something with Nintendo. Either way we’ll keep our eyes peeled, so be sure to check back with us at a later date for the details!

Crysis 3 interactive singleplayer demo video released

After having its screenshots of the game leaked earlier this week, we’ve now got more Crysis 3 for you gamers out there. EA and Crytek have just released an almost 19-minute long demo video showing off what the single player component of Crysis 3 is going to be like. Users choose whether they want to see the action carried out in stealth mode or armor mode. So for those of you who prefer to go in guns blazing can play the game differently to those who’d rather sneak around and avoid attention. As usual, the graphics are nothing short of impressive even though the video is made from pre-alpha footage of the game. We’ve embedded the video/demo above for your convenience. Check it out and let us know what you think.

Nintendo’s gaming platforms are known for more family-friendly genres, which means that gamers looking to get in on more serious and more “hardcore” games have to turn to consoles like the PlayStation 3 and the Xbox 360. However if you like the ability to play family-friendly and hardcore at the same time but don’t want to own two consoles, you might be interested to learn that Crysis 3 for the Wii U might not be such a far-fetched notion after all. Speaking to the folks at CVG, Crytek’s producer Mike Read was quoted as saying:

“I wouldn’t say there’s no chance […] I mean the Wii U still doesn’t have any kind of release [date] attached to it at this point. Who knows what the future will bring with it. I can definitely say that we are working with Nintendo, and that’s about all I can say on that front.”

If you’re wondering why this tune sounds somewhat familiar, it was because back in April, a director from Crytek, Rasmus Hoejengaard said that Crysis 3 for the Wii U was not possible in his opinion, nor was it in the cards. Either way there’s still no guarantee that Crysis 3 is destined for the Wii U, but we’ll be keeping our eyes peeled nonetheless.

It sure looks like Crytek really pulled out all the stops for this one; Crysis 3 definitely looks a lot better than any other first person shooter out there. Though the question of how well it can run on our computers is still up in the air. Anyway, hop along to Neogaf to check out the full set of leaked images, and pre-order the game today if you’re interested. 2013 can’t come soon enough.
