It’s Hard To Imagine A Classier Ad For Cup Noodles

There’s a special place in most of our hearts for instant ramen. Whether you have no time, no money, or no will to live, Cup Noodles is a comforting Styrofoam haven in a cruel world. But it’s definitely associated with sterile corporate break rooms and bare-mattress-on-the-floor apartments more than pastel animations or farm to table. But this commercial tries to make you see Nissin Cup Noodles differently.

Nissin – GooTa “Demi-hamburg-men” – Waiter, there’s a brown patty floating in my soup!

Nisshin - "GooTa Demi-hamburg-men" - Waiter, there's a brown patty floating in my soup

There is no end to the possibilities of Cup Noodles in Japan. Now Nissin, the original and largest instant ramen noodle maker in Japan, as part of its high-end “GooTa” instant noodle line, has mixed 2 of Japan’s favorite foods to make the Oban (big-sized) Demi-hamburg-men:

1) Instant ramen noodles in soup
2) Hamburg steak

Instant ramen noodles need no explanation, and in my opinion, taste best in simple form…

Hamburg steak – known as “hambagu” in Japan (back home, known as “meatloaf”), is often thought of as am expensive, gourmet western dish, often with exotic sauce. This one is no different, with a glistening demi-glace sauce.

The result is “Demi-hamburg-men (“men” meaning noodles). Ramen noodles in soup with a hamburg steak covered in demi-glace sauce floating on top.

Just add hot water and watch your Demi-hamburg grow and come to life.

At 237 yen, it is at a higher price point than the usual Cup Noodle, but to hambagu lovers, it may be worth it.

(Note: “Hambagu” is not to be confused with “Hambaga” which is served on a bun, usually with cheese, lettuce and tomato.)

Sanyo Foods and Marvel have collaborated to create “KING CUP Red Chili Noodle Ironman 3″ which will be out on April 22.

Inspired by Ironman’s color “Red”, spicy chili is used in the soup. Onion and garlic flavor add richness to the soup, which is “geared toward males in their 20s-40s”.
