LEGO Taxidermied Insect Collection is All About Bugs and Bricks

Some interests are pretty morbid. For instance, I’ve always wondered just what kind of person would want to become a coroner or an undertaker. It’s just weird to me. The same thing applies to people who collect bugs and display them. Seems pretty gruesome to me. I’m just not that fascinated with dead things. However, dead bugs in LEGO? Yeah, I can see how that could be neat.

Insect fans are about to have their bug-loving nerd minds blown by these “taxidermied” LEGO insects. Each detailed LEGO insect was hand-made by Siercon and Coral and put into shadow box insect display cases.

Now this is insect taxidermy that I wholeheartedly approve of.

My Bitter Valentine: Order Some Custom Anti-Sweethearts Candies

For obvious reasons, February 14th is the day that most single people dread. If you’ve been dumped, cheated on, lied to, or jilted by a scumbag of an ex-boyfriend (or ex-girlfriend) recently, then it’s time you placed an order in for some bitter Valentine candy. I don’t mean bitter, as in bitter to the taste. Rather, I mean sweet little heart-shaped candies that carry a mean and definitely not well-meaning message on each.

Necco is well-known for their candy hearts, and they’ve begun offering a ‘personalize your own Necco‘ service lately which you can use to achieve your bitter ends this (anti-)Valentine’s Day. They’ve got filters set up to prevent people from personalizing profanity-riddled hearts… But where there’s a will, there’s a way.

Crude, I know, but hey, anything to cheer the lonelies and the heartbroken on Not-So-Happy Hearts Day, right?

“Super Jeep” Takes up Two Lanes

You know, there’s a reason why GM shut down Hummer. Apparently, Hummer owners got five times as many traffic tickets as the average driver. Oh, and there’s that part where got like 9 miles per gallon too. Well, it looks like some dude in Morocco decided that even a Hummer wasn’t big enough for him, so he had to make his own super-size vehicle.

super jeep custom ride

The “Super Jeep” is the result of two Jeep Wranglers being merged into one massive, ultrawide, six-wheeled ride. This contraption is so wide, it doesn’t fit in a single lane. In fact, it needs nearly a lane and a half to get by.

I can just imagine the problems you’d have driving this monstrosity in the city. There are some streets through which it just wouldn’t fit. And can you imagine trying to parallel park this thing?

The owner of this ridiculous pimped ride is some foreign diplomat living in Rabat, Morocco – who is probably claiming diplomatic immunity from the country’s traffic laws.

Nokia releases 3D-printing specs for making custom Lumia 820 back covers

Nokia releases 3Dprinting specs for making custom Lumia 820 back covers

One of the great things about Nokia phones from way back when was making it your own with swappable plastic. While that level of exterior personalization isn’t available on many handsets these days — instead we’ve got bumpers and cases — Nokia added a removable shell to its Lumia 820 Windows Phone. You can always go ahead and buy new ones, but if you’ve got access to a 3D printer, Nokia has just released a “3D-printing Development Kit” with all the documentation you’ll need to create a custom backing for yourself. It’s available for download from the source links below, and contains “3D templates, case specs, recommended materials and best practices.”

Darth Vader Samurai: Turning Japanese

Darth Vader is still one of the greatest villains in the history of entertainment. But did you know that his helmet was inspired by the helmets of Japanese Samurai warriors? Well you do now. In tribute to the Dark Lord’s Japanese roots, toy maker Avatar666 created this awesome little guy.

This custom Munny toy perfectly mashes up Vader with his Samurai inspiration, with a shiny little helmet, adorned with warrior details and dual-wielding blue lightsabers. Thought I really want them to be lightkatanas. And red.

This particular toy has already been sold, but you can email avatar666 if you’d like to custom order one for yourself.

Fourth Doctor My Little Pony Plush: Friendship is Jelly Babies

Hasbro really needs to start licensing more characters in its My Little Pony series. Just imagine how awesome a Doctor Who collection would be, as evidenced by this fourth Doctor My Little Pony plush made by Lilmoon on DeviantArt.

This pony is perfect, featuring the Doctor’s signature scarf, hat and even an hourglass cutie mark. This was a special commission for some lucky person in Australia. Lilmoon says that the pony was easy to make, but the accessories took more time to come up with. The scarf and hat are both removable, which is nice if he regenerates and has to change his wardrobe.

I’m no Brony myself, but I would love to have this guy in my Doctor Who collection.

DMCA update shuts down new phone unlocking next year, allows rooting (but not for tablets)

CyanogenMod adds 'pull' OTA updates to latest CM10 nightly builds

And so it passed that Congress didst layeth its blessing on the jailbreaking and rooting of all manner of devices; the hacking community saw the miracle and rejoiced. But that amendment to the DMCA two years ago was just a temporary exemption and the Electronic Frontier Foundation has been vigorously lobbying to get it reinstated. The Library of Congress has now done just that through a new three year extension, but with some serious caveats: After 90 days, unlocking of new phones will be verboten and all tablet mods will still be illegal. This differs from the 2010 decision which did allow unlocking, because the Librarian decided that a recent copyright ruling means fair use rules no longer apply to a handset’s OS. It also said the exception isn’t needed anymore because carrier rules regarding unlocking are now more liberal — although the lawmaker may be confounding chicken with egg by that reasoning.

Baby Stroller Gets 125cc Engine, Heading for 50mph Top Speed

When you have a baby, one of the first things that you need is a good stroller. I mean, you have to let your kid have some sunlight. Sunlight is good, along with a walk at a nice leisurely pace. Well, that wasn’t fast enough for one dad.
baby stroller
So Colin Furze built a stroller (or pram, as they like to call them in England) with a 10 horsepower. 125cc engine that’s designed to propel Colin and his one-month-old son Jake up to speeds of around 50mph. That’s way too fast. All the ladies can’t even eww and ahh over your baby at those speeds as you speed past them. So what’s the point of even taking your kid out for a stroller ride?

This kid is going to be all about speed for his entire life now. Forget college. Start paying for his speeding tickets. The stroller even has 4 gears to help with hill-climbing and a cup holder.
