Official Star Wars iPhone 5 Cases: Episode II

PowerA’s officially licensed Star Wars iPhone 4/4S cases must have been a blockbuster, because this year the company is striking back with iPhone 5 variants of the cases.

Vadering is the New Planking: AKA Your Lack of Photoshop is Disturbing

Remember when planking went viral and your social networks just exploded with pictures of people lying flat on their faces in all sorts of weird locations? Planking isn’t so hot anymore nowadays, although there’s a new photo meme that’s taking its place. It’s called Vadering, and it’s just as crazy but tons more ghastly in a geeky sort of way.

vadering

I think you can tell what it’s inspired from based on the name alone. “Vadering” is basically a meme where people do Darth Vader’s infamous force choke on others. Because no human has the powers that Darth Vader possesses, we must all resort to Photoshop to actually perform this powerful Force chokehold.

AT-AT Walker Created To Help 4-Year-Old Surgery Patient

AT AT Walker Created To Help 4 Year Old Surgery Patient

We’re sure there’s no worse feeling in the world than having a child who is ill, especially if you are a parent who finds themselves helpless to make things better for their child. But this is a story of one parent making the most out of a rough situation, which we’re sure its outcome certainly helped the ill child feel better.

Stephanie Kaloi’s 4-year-old son went through surgery recently, which resulted in his knees being completely immobilized and required him to use a walker to help him get around. When Kaloi sent an image of the walker her son was using on Instagram, a friend suggested it looked like an AT-AT, which is how this AT-AT Walker came to be. (more…)

Darth Vader Homestar Projector: The Light Side of the Dark Side of the Force

Sega has been making their Homestar planetariums for a number of years, and has finally created one that might just be worthy of a place in my geek sanctuary, with the release of their new Darth Vader Homestar projector.

vader homestar projector

Shaped like Vader’s iconic helmet, a flap on top conceals a small planetarium projector that splashes about 10,000 tiny stars and planetary bodies on your walls and ceiling. You’ll also see Vader’s TIE fighter floating among the stars. Though I’m surprised there’s no Death Star out there in the heavens.  For that, you actually need to go with the R2-D2 Homestar.

You can the Darth Vader Homestar projector over on Amazon Japan for ¥4,200 (~$45 USD) now, but if you absolutely must have one outside of Japan, you can find it over at the Japan Trend Shop for about double that price.

Darth Vader Head Planetarium

Darth Vader Head PlanetariumEver wondered what goes on in the mind of the Dark Lord of the Sith himself, Darth Vader? Yes, he has seen far better days when all of his limbs were intact and he was a Jedi Master, but when he puts on that nefarious mask of his, coupled with a heavy and labored breathing, you know for sure that he is the embodiment of fear. As we all know, fear is one factor that prevents people from falling asleep peacefully, so it is nice to see Darth Vader do some good for once (other than saving his son from Force Lightning, but that is a different story for another day), by helping little ones fall asleep, of course.

Segatoys has come up with this unique Darth Vader head planetarium, which is capable of displaying a cool 10,000 stars as well as a TIE Fighter image which will fly around your ceiling. Too bad you will not see a Death Star in the horizon that is blown to bits because of a flaw in the engineering design. The Darth Vader head planetarium will be powered by a quartet of AA batteries and retail for approximately $71 after conversion.

Star Wars Collectors Watches: It’s Time to Use the Force

There have been numerous collectible Star Wars watches over the years, and the latest batch has just found its way across the universe from a galaxy far, far, away. Or at least from the UK.

star wars watches 1

These new analog watches are made by Zeon and officially-licensed by LucasFilm. The collection include five cool designs whether you’re rooting for the Light or Dark Side of the Force. The line includes a Luke Skywalker, R2-D2, Boba Fett, Stormtrooper, and of course, Darth Vader. As usual, R2-D2 is all alone, and C-3PO is nowhere to be found in the collection. Each watch has a leather band, is water-resistant to 5ATM and comes individually numbered with a velvet-lined box and numbered collector’s certificate.

Naturally, the Darth Vader one is the coolest, with its black case, red face crystal and red accents. It’s also neat that the Skywalker one has a compass built in. Though I’m not sure that would actually to navigate through the Death Star’s trenches.

You can currently find Zeon’s Star Wars watches over at UK shop Great Gear Store for £125 (~$187 USD) each, and they should be making their way to more retailers soon.

Darth Vader Meditation Chamber Fireplace, the Force is Warm with This One

Darth Vader’s meditation chamber is where the Sith Lord goes to relax and chill for a while. Being a Sith is pretty stressful, you see. Your son didn’t follow in your footsteps and become evil like you, your boss the Emperor is always on your case via hologram, you recently lost the plans for the Death Star. He’s got 99 problems, but Admiral Motti isn’t one. Not anymore.

This conceptual Darth Vader meditation chamber fireplace could be a good way for you to unwind too. It was designed by Dave Delisle and can be opened and closed to adjust the room temperature or kept closed when not in use.

Not only is it geeky, it is actually a really great design. It is the perfect way for Dark Lords to meditate. Just don’t try and sit down inside of this one, Lord Vader. You already got burned once on Mustafar.

Darth Vader Riding a Tauntaun, That is All.

Need some classy geek art to decorate your place with? Try this awesome Darth Vader riding a Tauntaun painting. It’s like the Dark Lord is in the Imperial cavalry, mounted on his noble Tauntaun steed. In the desert. With a red cape. Makes perfect sense to me.

Actually, this image is a reinterpretation of Jacques Luis David’s classic Napoleon Crossing the Alps. This original piece of acrylic art on canvas was created by Etsy seller SteGentileNerdArt – who has lots of other amazing geek art to help geek up your walls.

This original painting measures 60cm x 80cm (~24″ x 31.5″) and will cost you $659(USD). Sure, that’s expensive, but it’s totally worth it to have Vader riding a Tauntaun on your wall.

Darth Vader Samurai: Turning Japanese

Darth Vader is still one of the greatest villains in the history of entertainment. But did you know that his helmet was inspired by the helmets of Japanese Samurai warriors? Well you do now. In tribute to the Dark Lord’s Japanese roots, toy maker Avatar666 created this awesome little guy.

This custom Munny toy perfectly mashes up Vader with his Samurai inspiration, with a shiny little helmet, adorned with warrior details and dual-wielding blue lightsabers. Thought I really want them to be lightkatanas. And red.
