Darth Vader Gets Upcycled: The Junk Side of the Force

We’re so used to seeing Darth Vader dressed in all black, but his iconic helmet really works well no matter what color it’s done in. Heck, even Hello Kitty Vader was pretty imposing. But I think that this version of Vader, built out of old bits of reclaimed electronics and other junk looks really awesome.

I kind of wish that when they peeled back the helmet on Vader in Return of the Jedi, this is what they would have found underneath instead of Sebastian Shaw. I can’t tell for sure what all of the components came from, but there’s definitely some old adding machine and typewriter keys, circuit boards, gears and resistors on this handmade helmet.

It was created by Indiana artist Gabriel Dishaw, who has a love for making sculptures from found junk. The Darth Vader helmet is selling for $800(USD) over on Etsy now. While that may seem like a lot of money, I’m betting that Vader’s actual helmet cost him just as much.

Darth Vader Credit Card: Don’t Dare Pay It Late

While I love the convenience of credit cards, the interest fees and late charges can really throw you for a loop if you don’t pay them off every month. But I might just have to add one more card to my wallet just so I can have the Darth Vader Visa Card.

darth vader credit card

This awesome Star Wars credit card appears to be available only in Japan, so I’m betting they won’t approve my application – especially since I can’t even fill it out.

It’s probably for the best, anyhow. I can only imagine what would happen if I ever was one minute late with my payment on this card. The Dark Lord himself would probably force choke me (and my wife… and my cat… and my dog) until I paid up – double. Or maybe he’d send an army of clones to my front doorstep to threaten me with their blasters.

You saw what they did to Uncle Owen and Aunt Baru, right? That’s because they were 30 days past-due.

Navy Soldier Surprises Son Dressed as Darth Vader

Some dads really rock and go the extra mile to make sure that their kids have some great memories. When the video below was shot, Susie W’s kids had been separated from their dad for about 3 months. But dad had a surprise for them.
vader is home
The kids thought that they wouldn’t be seeing him until December. When their son said that he wanted a Star Wars party so he could be Luke and fight Darth Vader, he had no idea what was in store for him. Vader was supposed to be his older cousin, but the dad came home from his Navy deployment for a 96-hour leave and surprised his son, dressed as Darth Vader.

Ah. This video makes you feel all warm and fuzzy inside. Imagine if Luke and Vader’s Empire Strikes Back fight had ended in a hug… Damn, that sounds like Disney Star Wars. What are we all in for?

Guy Convicted of Punching Darth Vader’s Wife, Surprisingly Doesn’t Get Force Choked

Here’s a crazy story. A man in Walsall, UK threw a punch at Darth Vader. This punch missed and hit Vader’s wife instead. It’s unclear if Vader used the force to deflect the blow and let his wife’s face take the hit instead.
The punch was thrown by Ikbal Hare, 35, who apparently is on the Light Side and left his lightsaber at home that day. The result was that Mrs. Vader was struck on the right cheek. Unlike her husband, she wears no helmet and has no force powers, so it probably hurt really bad. Vader changed his name from Mark Nokes by deed poll for charity, several years ago.

Police were called out to an alleged domestic dispute involving Hare and his girlfriend Kerry Campbell. Hare suspected Mr. Vader had been romancing Ms. Campbell and that’s why he threw the punch. He now has 18 months of supervision. He probably has intergalactic bounty hunters looking for him too.

Darth Vader Force Gloves: Behold the Power of the Dark Side (of Magnets)

If only telekinesis were a real thing, we wouldn’t need to resort to such cheap parlor tricks as sticking magnets inside our gloves, but unfortunately we live in the real world, and as far as I know, The Force doesn’t actually exist in our universe. But if you’ve been thinking about dressing up as Darth Vader this Halloween, and are looking for that finishing touch, then you might want to grab one of these.

darth vader force glove 2

This is the Darth Vader Force Glove – which is basically just a glove with couple of big-ass magnets in it. The glove comes with a couple of small magnetic  toys that you can practice your Force Push and Force Pull with. There’s a small cutout of some droids that you can push along your tabletop, as well as a tiny lightsaber you can pull towards your glove. It’s too bad it’s not strong enough to pull a can of beer out of the fridge and fling it across the room, though.

In addition to manipulating these little playthings, you could always use the glove for truly Dark-Sided tricks, like erasing your buddy’s ATM card, or wiping out the hard drive in their MacBook. Probably not a good idea to do either of those things if you don’t want them to chop off your hand with a lightsaber, though.

You can grab the Darth Vader Force Glove over at ThinkGeek for $19.99(USD).

Star Wars Darth Vader Lunch Bag with Sound

Have you ever wondered just how Darth Vader, the Dark Lord of the Sith eats with that mask on most of the time? I guess only in his meditation chamber when his mask is removed, will he be able to dig into the latest that the galaxy has to offer on the gastronomic front. Of course, little Siths running around who are packed for Sith School will want to make sure that they do not leave home without the $14.99 Star Wars Darth Vader Lunch Bag with Sound.

The name of the Star Wars Darth Vader Lunch Bag with Sound says it all – a simple push button has been incorporated into the bag itself, where pressing it will result in a Darth Vader sound effect. It is 100% PVC-free with PEVA linings for that added peace of mind, is durable, insulated, and easy to clean – after all, you know just how messy kids can be. Just make sure that there are adequate batteries to keep the Star Wars Darth Vader Lunch Bag with Sound going in the long run, using the Force alone is not going to be enough.

Star Wars Supreme Edition Darth Vader Costume

So you have more or less run out of ideas on what kind of costume to wear for this coming Halloween season? Well, instead of playing on the sense of fear and dread with blood and plenty of make-up, how about becoming the embodiment of fear itself in the Intergalactic world as the Dark Lord of the Sith, Darth Vader? This is made possible thanks to a black faux leather jumpsuit with molded body armor, where it was molded straight from Lucasfilm studio designs for that added touch of authenticity. The thing is, the Star Wars Supreme Edition Darth Vader Costume has one major drawback – its price point of a whopping $999.99.

Still, if authenticity is right at the top of your list compared to other features, then you know for sure that the Star Wars Supreme Edition Darth Vader Costume is worth every penny that you forked out for it. It is as real as it gets, and to add to the realistic factor, you would do well to purchase your own lightsaber, although I do not think that banks are right now giving out loans to construct a Death Star.

Darth Vader Pinafore: Dress Like a Dark Lord in this Dark Dress

Darth Vader was about as masculine as bad guys can get. But why shouldn’t female cosplayers be able to dress up as the Dark Lord too? With this Darth Vader pinafore, now they can.

darth vader pinafore dress 1

Artist Amanda Marin of Darling Army makes this outfit that’s got a combination of an apron-style pinafore with a matching black cape attached in the back. It’s been done up with all the appropriate control buttons/indicators on the front, so even if you choose not to wear a Vader helmet to go with it, everyone will know exactly who you are.

If you’d like one for yourself, you can grab the Vader pinafore over on Etsy for $95(USD). While you’re in her shop, be sure to check out her other outfits, which include a TARDIS and Red Dalek pinafore among others.

By the way, does anyone know what the heck all those things on the front of Vader’s outfit did? If they controlled his health system, couldn’t a Jedi just have used their mind tricks to push one of them and shut off his respirator? Just wondering.

Epic Star Wars Cake is Epic

Sometimes you can’t just pick one favorite character from the Star Wars movies. Who says you have to? At least that’s the idea that one baker had when creating what could be the most awesome Star Wars cake ever. Ok, it’s not as incredibly crafted as the full-size Stormtrooper and Darth Vader cakes, but it’s still pretty great.

star wars mashup cake

This single cake combines Darth Vader, Chewbacca, R2-D2 and Yoda into a single, epic cake masterpiece. Nobody seems to know who made this amazing cake, but whoever you are, I bend the knee to you. The only thing missing are Boba Fett and Stormtrooper layers but I suppose you could always pick those up here.

LEGO Star Wars Darth Vader Head Lamp

Don’t you think that it is rather ironic that the Dark Side of the Force still needs some light? I am referring to the $18.99 LEGO Star Wars Darth Vader Head Lamp here, where you are able to get light from the Dark Side as this clip-on Vader around your head will make sure that you will no longer stumble through the night, nor will your toe experience any more stubs against the corner of the table.

This must be the first time that Darth Vader brings forth light to those around him, never mind the fact that he is unable to project Force Lightning. The LEGO Star Wars Darth Vader Head Lamp is capable of being clipped to different places such as your belt, backpack, or even your pocket protector. As its name suggests, you can also use the Dark Lord of the Sith as an actual head lamp for late night readings of Star Wars novels.
