Bethesda: Work on Dawnguard and Hearthfire for PS3 to continue after Dragonborn

A few days ago we shared what seemed like good news that the Skyrim Dragonborn DLC would be arriving for the PlayStation 3 and PC come early 2013. While that’s great news for PS3 gamers who have had the short end of the stick when it comes to Skyrim DLCs, the question we’re sure many are wondering is when the previous two Skyrim DLCs will arrive on the PS3, if at all. After all given that it would seem like little progress has been made with Dawnguard and Hearthfire, we can’t blame PS3 gamers for thinking that the previous two DLCs are lost to them. The good news is that if you still have a hankering for Dawnguard and Hearthfire come 2013, Bethesda has announced that they will continue working on the previous two DLCs once Dragonborn has been released. Skyrim Dawnguard DLC for PS3 on its way?

All right, so we do know that there would be some Skyrim PS3 DLC being on its way, and this is where gamers keep their fingers crossed that the Dawnguard DLC will finally arrive on the PS3 platform. Of course, we cannot blame them for getting their hopes up that Skyrim Dragonborn as well as Hearthfire will also make their way to the PS3 platform. What we see above is a tweet made by Pete Hines, who drew the line that his Twitter account is meant for personal use only, although he could share information with everyone in general without having to reply individually.

Hines did underline the fact that he had no information he “could share“ at this point in time, so perhaps all we need to do is sit tight and wait for more official information from the relevant sources. Are you waiting with bated breath for some DLCs to finally arrive on PS3’s Skyrim? It does seem as though Xbox 360 owners are far happier (and rightly so) when it comes to enjoying the full Skyrim experience, so you might want to make the switch over to the Xbox 360 platform this coming Christmas.

Bethesda still working on Dawnguard and Hearthfire DLCs for PlayStation 3

We’re sure that many PlayStation 3 gamers are still waiting on the Skyrim: Dawnguard DLC to arrive on their console, although based on the comments we’ve received so far, it seems that a good many have given up as well. Unfortunately if you were hoping for good news, you might be disappointed as Bethesda’s Pete Hines has announced via his Twitter that Skyrim DLCs for the PlayStation 3 – Dawnguard and the recently released Hearthfire – are still a no-go. He does not have any new information to share with us at the moment although the good news is that they are still working on it. This is despite previous reports which have suggested that Dawnguard and Hearthfire may never arrive on the PlayStation 3. We guess it’s good of Pete Hines to keep fans and gamers informed even though there wasn’t any good news to share. In any case we’ll keep our eyes peeled for Dawnguard and/or Hearthfire updates for the PlayStation 3, so check back with us at a later date where hopefully we will have some good news to share with you guys.

Skyrim Dawnguard PS3 DLC might never arrive

If you are a PS3 owner who has played Skyrim and have been waiting patiently for news on the Dawnguard DLC, well, there does not seem to be any good news in side as the release date for that particular DLC remains a heated topic still. To further add to the disappointment, one of Bethesda’s top PR execs, Pete Hines, (who holds the position of VP of PR and marketing), tweeted to a question that concerned the release date, saying, “No, we will not release it if we can’t get the performance to an ‘acceptable’ standard. Our stance on this has not changed.”

In other words, that would mean if Skyrim Dawnguard for the PS3 is not up to snuff, it will not be released. I do hope that some sense of closure will be made available to gamers, especially fans of the franchise, as being left hanging in the air for news of a potential release is never quite the most pleasant experience. Not only that, folks might just give up altogether if they had to wait like, forever. Perhaps giving the development team a certain timeframe or deadline to meet, otherwise the entire project will have to be scrapped, might be a better way to conclude things.

Hopefully by the time the development team figures out all the bugs plaguing Skyrim Dawnguard, the PS4 would not have been released.

Skyrim: Dawnguard for PlayStation 3′s status not expected to change “soon”

So we know that both Sony and Bethesda are hard at work trying to get Skyrim: Dawnguard to work on the PlayStation 3. It’s rather unfortunate given that Hearthfire has already been released but PlayStation 3 owners have yet to play the first Skyrim DLC. That being said, it seems that the work being done on the PlayStation 3 version is still going on and it does not appear that we might be seeing it anytime soon. According to Bethesda’s Pete Hines via Twitter, he revealed that this was not a situation where the status is expected to change “soon” and there is no quick or easy solution to it. It certainly does not bode well for PlayStation 3 gamers, but what do you guys think? Are you hoping that Bethesda and Sony work something out eventually, or have you given up on Dawnguard for the PlayStation 3 entirely?

Sony and Bethesda scramble to get PS3 Dawnguard DLC working

It is an open secret that Bethesda has had issues with the Dawnguard DLC for The Elder Scrolls V: Skyrim, so much so that it has yet to hit the Sony PS3. The issues might even be too large for Bethesda to resolve, but that does not mean the company has stopped working on it. Sony too, would want to help Bethesda out, with Sony VP Adam Boyes informing Kotaku that Sony has dispatched a team to work alongside Bethesda in order to fix the issues that plagued the PS3 version. Adam said, “We have a big, broad dev support team that works closely with Bethesda. Everyone involved is trying their best to get this stuff working.”

Hopefully this synergy would mean whatever issues that plague the PS3 Dawnguard DLC will soon be weeded out, although there is no commitment to any time frame as expected. Xbox 360 owners have been rocking to Hearthfire for a week already with Dawnguard being available for over a month, making me wonder whether some PS3 owners might just decide to make the jump over to the Xbox 360 platform after waiting for so long.

Skyrim: Dawnguard still “isn’t good enough” to be released on the PlayStation 3

While Xbox 360 gamers are busy enjoying the much awaited Skyrim: Dawnguard DLC, it seems that PlayStation 3 owners are still left out in the cold when it comes to their turn. Earlier this month we reported that the reason behind the delay for the PlayStation 3 was due to Bethesda feeling that the performance of Dawnguard on the PlayStation 3 was not satisfactory. Well as it stands, it seems that Bethesda is still feeling that way according to a recent tweet by Pete Hines, who was quoted as saying, “It hasn’t changed: It isn’t good enough to release for PS3. Saying that daily doesn’t really help.” It should be noted that when Skyrim launched on the PlayStation 3, there was issues with lag and frame rates which were eventually addressed with a patch, so perhaps Dawnguard might have run into similar issues as well although this is merely speculation on our part. In any case if you’re a PlayStation 3 gamer looking forward to Dawnguard, you’re probably still in for quite a wait so stay tuned as we keep you updated on its progress!

Skyrim Dawnguard DLC arrives on PC but not PS3 as Bethesda is not satisfied with its performance

Skyrim Dawnguard DLC has touched down for the PC, but it seems that the release of Skyrim Dawnguard DLC for the Sony PS3 has been delayed, with Bethesda stepping forward to claim that they will not go ahead with a release until they themselves are satisfied with the kind of performance the game gives on Sony’s aging console. Bethesda mentioned, “We are not satisfied yet with Dawnguard’s performance on the PS3. We would like for everyone to have a chance to play Dawnguard, but we aren’t going to release it for PS3 knowing that some people’s experience in Skyrim will be worse. We do everything we can to have our content available to all; from our free updates, to user mods, to paid DLC. We’re as disappointed as our fans when that isn’t the case, but we’ll continue to push for that reality.”

I say that is a pretty good principle to stick to – after all, no one would enjoy a gimped video game simply because it is out early, and the developers might as well take some extra time required to polish up the game and remove whatever major bugs there are so that gamers do not end up frustrated and turned off completely. As for those who are rocking to an Xbox 360 or a PC, they have managed to enjoy Skyrim Dawnguard DLC since last night, and judging by initial impressions, PS3 owners take heart – it is going to be well worth the wait!

PS3, PC to miss Dawnguard

According to Bethesda marketing boss Pete Hines, he has extinguished whatever little hope there is left for a rapid release for of Skyrim’s Dawnguard DLC (downloadable content) for the PC and Sony PS3. Pete Hines tweeted, “We have not announced Dawnguard for any other platform, nor given a timeline for any such news. If we have news, I promise I’d tell you.” Talk about being a wet blanket for a potentially explosive extension to the hugely popular Skyrim franchise, no? Well, just to gain some context, Dawnguard is the first expansion for The Elder Scrolls V: Skyrim, and it will arrive on the Xbox 360 platform this coming June 26th, which technically speaking, would be today. What do you think of this bit of news if you are a PS3 or PC gamer?
