Back To The Future Mark I DeLorean Time Machine would look good on any desk

time-machine-deloreanBack To The Future happens to be a movie franchise that has its fair share of fans over the years, and one of the most iconic and enduring images from the movie would be the DeLorean, a car that functions as a time machine if all of the other factors happen to be correct. Well, you might not be able to indulge in a little bit of time travel on your own since it is physically impossible to do so at this point in time, but you can turn back the clock in your own mind with the $64.99 Back To The Future Mark I DeLorean Time Machine.

This happens to be an awesome 1:15 scale model of the Back to the Future DeLorean, where it will bring you to a trip down memory lane, and in essence, travel back through time with your mind, of course. It will be an extremely detailed replica that would boast of intricately designed lighting and sound effects so that the entire “ride” looks a whole lot more impressive than normal. Needless to say, when the batteries run out, you might want to look into the matter, lest the memories of your teen years also die with it.

Back to the Future DeLorean Kid’s Push Car: 1.21 Gigaawwww

Other kids might be ashamed to ride next to the kid in the Normandy stroller, but not baby Cooper. Thanks to his mom Cooper has a flying DeLorean push car, and it didn’t take a ton of power to make. Just some cardboard, tape, paint, EL strips and of course a tiny red puffy vest.

Cooper’s mom and Instructables member Cory4281 made the car last year for Halloween. She attached the DeLorean’s parts on top of a Step2 push car. I love the small details in the car, like the cutouts. But the best part has to be how Cory4281 made it so the actual car’s wheels are now hidden, making it look like Cooper has a floating ride.

Cory4281 said she wants to make epic costumes for her son each year. I hope Cooper never grows up so we can keep seeing more push car mods from his mom.

Meet the Suburban Dad Who Built His Own DeLorean Time Machine

Some people are movie fans. Others are fanatics. And then there’s Lenny Hochteil, the man who built a DeLorean time machine just like the one in Back to the Future. It’s got a flux capacitor, gullwing doors and ground effects. And yes he does dress up like Doc Brown when he drives it.

DeLorean DMC-12 Gets A Li-Ion Battery

DeLorean DMC 12 Gets A Li Ion Battery[CEATEC 2013] It is not every day that you see a DeLorean DMC-12, but on the CEATEC showfloor this year, this is exactly what we saw. This particular ride will not be able to help you perform some time travel shenanigans, and neither is it going to accelerate to 88 miles per hour (141.6 km/h) in order to activate the flux capacitor simply because there is none to begin with. In the original Back to the Future trilogy, it was mentioned that time travel required that exact speed, in addition to an enormous amount of power. Just how much? Well, the three films had consistently mentioned “one point twenty-one jiggawatts”, which actually matches the standard prefix and the term for power of “one billion watts”:, that is, a gigawatt. That is never going to happen with the DeLorean on the showfloor, as it showcases a li-ion battery that offers 150V of performance.

Whilst time travel is still out of reach, at least it shows that one is able to retrofit an existing ride with a battery to turn it into an electric vehicle. Of course, it remains to be seen just how much money such a conversion will cost to transform a gasoline-powered ride into a fully electric one, but hopefully it will be affordable enough so that even those living in poorer countries are able to make the switch for a greener future.

Uber to offer Delorean rides in SF this weekend only, time travel not included

DNP Uber to offer Delorean rides in SF this weekend, time travel not included

If you’re a Back to the Future fanatic who wasn’t able to snag a Delorean on eBay or hitch a ride in a time-traveling taxi cab, then you might want to head to the City by the Bay this weekend. Uber has partnered with GE as part of the latter’s Brilliant Machines campaign to offer rides in, yes, a Delorean, but only in San Francisco and only for the following three days. They’ll be operational some time between 12 to 9pm on Friday and between 12 to 6pm on Saturday and Sunday — you’ll know a Delorean is available if you see an option pop up on the app (as seen in the screenshot after the break). However, Uber told us there’ll only be four of them on the road. Due to the limited availability, you’re restricted to just 15 minutes per trip and only one passenger per vehicle. The company’s pulled publicity ploys like this before — remember the ice cream trucks and those $3,000 helicopter rides? — but we have to admit this one makes our inner Marty McFly smile. So if you’re feeling lucky, take a trip to SF and try your hand at hailing one of these 1.21-gigawatt-powered beauties. Be sure to ask the driver if he can reach 88MPH.

Official Back to the Future LEGO Set Surfaces

Last year we told you about an official Back to the Future LEGO set that was coming down the line. Well, it will arrive on July 18th, but if you are eager to take a look, here it is.

    lego delorean
Brick News has scored a first look at the official LEGO set. You might remember the first version proposed through LEGO Cuusoo last year. Well, this official DeLorean has a lot more going on – though it looks quite a bit less like the one in the movie than the originally proposed design.

    lego delorean1
It will come with Marty McFly and Doc Brown minifigs, and with this set you can build all three versions of the DeLorean from the movies. Pricing for the set will be £35 (~$50 USD). So what do you think?

If you’d rather have a more accurate LEGO DeLorean, you can always head over to Ichiban Toys and order up one of their model kits.

Pay for a Blast from the Past: Rent a ‘Back to the Future’ DeLorean

Ever wished you could go back to the past or travel through time into the future? I have, and I’m not ashamed to admit it. A lot of people would give the pageant-perfect answer and say no, explaining that they wouldn’t be who they were today had they changed their past experiences.

I agree with that sentiment most of the time, but there’s also the case of committing mistakes consciously, just because you were in the heat of the moment or just weren’t thinking at all, period. Of course, time travel is impossible in this world, but that doesn’t mean that you can’t pay to experience a literal blast from the past.

    Rent a DeLorean

There’s currently a rental service that’s lending off a street-legal DeLorean time machine that looks like it came off the set of Back to the Future. It’s not one of the actuals car they used in the movie, though it’s a pretty good replica of the iconic car-slash-time machine.

The rental service is based in Minneapolis, Minnesota during the warm season and in Las Vegas, Nevada during the cold season. However, they can travel to “practically any location in the continental United States and Canada,” should you have a need for a time-traveling DeLorean.

Hourly rates are discussed on a case-to-case basis, so you might want to get in touch with Time Machine Rental if you’re interested.

Oh, and where you’re going, you’re probably going to need roads.

If I Can’t Have a DeLorean Time Machine, I’d Totally Take This DeLorean Hovercraft Instead

I’ve grown up. I’ve faced reality. I now know that getting a DeLorean time machine like in Back to the Future isn’t going to happen any time soon. I think I’m okay with it. I’d definitely be okay with it if I could replace the DeLorean-sized hole in my heart with this awesome DeLorean Hovercraft. It was spotted tearing up the beaches of San Francisco and great Scott it looks so freaking fun. More »

DeLorean Hovercraft Caught In The Wild In San Francisco

We’ve covered Back To The Future quite a bit here at Ubergizmo since we know, just like us, you’re all probably big fans of the films, TV shows and delicious cereal. We’ve seen hoverboards, sneakers and a LEGO set inspired by Back to the Future. But have you ever seen a DeLorean hovercraft? You have?! Well, let’s make believe you didn’t so the rest of the class could enjoy this video.

A few days ago, YouTube user Terry Barentsen happened to be in the right place at the right time as a hovercraft made to look like a DeLorean was seen driving around. Since it didn’t reach 88 miles-per-hour, it wasn’t able to travel through time, but we’re sure Doc Brown would still be proud of this creation, even though this thing doesn’t move quite as well as the real DeLorean, or even the hoverboard.

We’re not sure what exactly is going on with California as a RC Superman was spotted there just a few weeks ago. We’re just happy there are people around to record these bizarre instances so they can spread through the Internet life wildfire.
