This deck chair might look a little dangerous to the untrained eye, but for those who place confidence in physics it looks like the perfect spot to kick back and relax. More »

Flip Bench Offers You a Choice When it Comes to Public Seating Arrangements
Posted in: Today's ChiliYou know how sometimes, there’s only one space left on the bench, and you really don’t want to find yourself sandwiched between a kid throwing a tantrum and a guy eating a Sloppy Joe sloppily? Unfortunately, your choices are only to take that last seat – or remain standing until one of them leaves. And you know that could take a while.
Cue the Flip Bench by Daniel Pearlman, an outdoor bench that’s the only one of its kind since it comes with flippable seats.
If you prefer not to be seated with someone on either side, just flip the seat and take your seat on the other side.
In addition to the plastic, outdoor variant, Pearlmann envisions a stylish indoor, laminated wood and aluminum version for common seating areas as well.
Of course, some people might take offense that you actually flipped the seat on them, but that’s a totally different story.

My desk is pretty messy. I’m not ashamed to admit it, but maybe if I had a desk organizer like this one from Officeoriginair, I’d be more tidy. Its minimalist design is definitely something attractive and distinctive for any desk.
The Table Island was designed by the Netherlands-based Officeoriginair for Royal VKB, and it’s basically an office tray that’s made from cork. It’s designed to hold all of your daily items, from your phone, sunglasses, desktop accessories and even your tablet. The different organizing tabs are at different heights, making it look like a mountainous landscape.
You can get your own Table Island for €39.95 (~$50 USD) from Royal VKB. It looks like there might be a black version, but I don’t see it listed for sale anywhere.

Ejector Seat Bar Stools Are the Most Efficient Way To Get Rid Of Creeps [Furniture]
Posted in: Today's Chili If you completely avoid the bar scene because you’re tired of spending your nights dealing with creeps, you’ll sincerely wish this bar stool—crafted from an F-4 Phantom ejector seat—were fully functional. Because instead of having to jot down a fake phone number to escape an awkward situation, you could simply send the jerk blasting through the ceiling. More »
Sometimes, looks matter. Don’t get me wrong, because functionality should always be the main concern. But when that part’s done and over with, aesthetics also play a role in how it impacts people’s lives.
Take, for example, these solar lamps by Danish artist Olafur Elisasson. It’s pretty obvious why he decided to name it the Little Sun. But aside from its novelty factor, the lamps serve a higher purpose.
Elisasson actually designed them to sell to poorer countries that still use kerosene lamps. At $10(USD) a pop, they’re pretty much as affordable as solar lamps can get. They’re also a breath of fresh air from how solar lamps typically look light, and economical too. As Elisasson says that “over the course of the lamp’s lifespan, its users can save 90 percent on what they would spend on kerosene for lighting.”
I don’t know about you, but if I’m in a crappy mood, these Little Suns could probably brighten up my day.

A fair number of companies that read our product reviews tell me that they take our criticism to heart to improve their wares. That’s flattering to hear, but I don’t think the message is getting to the right people. How do I know? Companies continue to send us new laptops, tablets and smartphones that exhibit the same annoying design flaws over and over. Consider this list a polite but forceful intervention. More »
Gorgeous Golden Gate Knife Packs the Same Steel as Its Namesake [Beautiful]
Posted in: Today's Chili Though it was crafted in France, Laguiole’s beautiful Golden Gate Bridge folding pocket knife was inspired the iconic red orange bridge spanning the San Francisco Bay. And in addition to a handle designed to look like it’s made of criss-crossing girders, the knife is forged from the same steel used in the actual bridge that’s stood the test of time since 1937. Do you love the design that went in to the QLOCKTWO clocks, but don’t want to spend the big bucks to own one? Check out the QLOCKTWO app, that’s available for iOS and Android. It’s a lot cheaper and you can have it right on your phone, right now.
Just like its non-virtual brothers, the QLOCKTWO app tells the time with words, not numbers. It’s available in four languages, English, French, German and Spanish. The time is relayed in 5 minute intervals, like the physical QLOCKTWO clocks.
The QLOCKTWO app is available for $0.99(USD) at the App Store and at Google Play. And if you really like it, you can order yourself one of the real ones that start out at $599 and go up from there.
