ego Hybrid Flash Drive iPhone Case Combines 2 Essential Things

iPhone cases and USB flash drives are probably some of the most popular tech around, and both things that you almost always have to have on you. That’s one of the reasons why ego decided to combine them into one sleek package. The ego Hybrid iPhone case looks pretty good, and you’ll be able to carry a USB flash drive without knowing it and without losing it.

The ego Hybrid USB Series 2-in-1 iPhone case has a slide-out USB flash drive that’s available in 4, 8, or 16GB sizes. It’s incorporated into the case itself, which is made out of matte gray resin that’s matched with pastel drive colors. It’s not a bad look, and the fact of the matter is that I’ve lost quite a few USB drives over the years, so this will keep one securely in a known place.

The ego Hybrid iPhone case starts out at $34.95 for the 4GB and goes up to $49.95 for the 16GB version. The only improvement I can think off is it would be great if your iPhone could connect via Bluetooth to the flash drive to transfer files.

Syre Smartwatch Band Adds Bluetooth to iPod Nano

After Pebble’s resounding success, it was only a matter of time before more inventors would try and get smartwatches made through Kickstarter’s crowdfunding. The Syre is a watch band for your iPod Nano, with the distinct advantage of having Bluetooth neatly integrated.

The Syre smartwatch was developed by Anyé Spivey, in collaboration with ID-3D and Indesign. It’s made out of flexible silicone polymer, and the case integrates Bluetooth capability, which means that it will be compatible with wireless headphones and smartphones. It’s designed to fit the latest iPod Nano, which slides into the face of the strap.

It’s going to be available in six colors, depending on a vote by the project’s backers. To get your own, you’ll need to pledge $50 (USD). At the time of writing, the Kickstarter project had amassed more than $100,000 out its original goal of $75,000. It’s already fully funded and there are 21 days left to pledge. It’s expected to ship in November 2012.

Siphon Audio Out Switch Concept: Switch to Suit the Sound

I know a lot of PC gamers also splurge on high end speakers for their gaming rigs, while others prefer to use headphones or headsets. If you use both – or several of both – on your computer, I suggest you check out the Siphon. It’s a USB device that lets you switch between different audio jacks.

The Siphon has a dial that lets you switch to one of the three jacks. It has an adhesive back, so you don’t have to leave it dangling or hidden at the back of your PC. It can also serve as a rack for your headphones or headset.

Seems like a neat gadget, especially for people who don’t always need headphones (or speakers), or those who share their computer with others who might prefer a different audio setup at times. It would be better if it had a dedicated “default” setting though, so you can still output sound from the default speakers even if there’s something plugged in all three jacks. Boeing 787 Dreamliner to be equipped with Android-based entertainment systems

Although this is not really the Boeing Phone that the American aircraft manufacturer promised to us a few months ago, Boeing is at least trying to integrate the best that mobile technology has to offer to its jets. And it begins with the Boeing 787 Dreamliner – a long-range, wide-body, twin-engine jet airline that can carry hundreds of passengers. Boeing is saying that it will be integrating two Android-based entertainment systems on the Dreamliner. The said two in-flight entertainment and connectivity solutions (IFECs) are the Panasonic eX3 and the Thales TopSeries Avant.

Boeing recently integrated the Thales TopSeries Avant IFECs to the 787 Dreamliner of Qatar Airways. Qatar Airways 787 has two classes – economy and business – equipped with 7-inch and 10-inch touchscreen displays. Every IFEC will will sport an STMicro dual-core ARM processor, 1 GB of RAM, and a 256 GB storage capacity. The Thales TopSeries Avant IFEC will also be equipped with an Android handset that will presumably run applications that aren’t suited for larger screens. As for the version of Android used on the system, ExtremeTech believes that it will run either Android 2.3 or Android 3.0.
