Diablo 3 Nephalem Rifts Cleared In Under 4 Minutes

Diablo 3: Reaper of Souls went live at the business tail end of last month, and you can be sure that fans of the video game franchise have taken to it with aplomb. Obviously, us humans have this innate need to strive to be the very best, and such a trait also shows up in the world of video games. In Reaper of Souls, gamers were treated to huge, randomized dungeons that are known as the Nephalem Rifts, and you won’t find these to be a Shangri-La for sure. A run in one of those dungeons would normally take more than 10 minutes, give or take, depending on the difficulty level. Check out the video above that shows off a Korean gamer who managed to complete a relatively large dungeon in less than 4 minutes, and on Torment difficulty to boot.

Last February Blizzard and deviantART held a Diablo III: Reaper of Souls fan art contest. The winners of the contest have now been announced. Use this waypoint to deviantART to check out what Christian had to say about each winning artwork, and be sure to admire them in their full resolution on their respective artists’ pages. I highly recommend looking at the other submissions as well.

Diablo III Patch 2.0.1 Goes Live

Diablo III Patch 2.0.1 Goes LiveFans of Diablo III, it is time to sit up and take notice! Patch 2.0.1 has just gone live in the Americas, and do bear in mind that if you have not been prompted to download patch 2.0.1 whenever you boot up your copy of Diablo III, that is simply because the patch itself has yet to go live in your region. In a nutshell, if you happen to log in from a European or Asian client, you will have to play the patience card and wait for the patch to roll out for those particular regions, so don’t go scouring the Internet for a patch 2.0.1 in all probability, contains malware or a Trojan when installed. Also, it is important to note for those whose home region is in the Americas, you are unable to log into Europe or Asia using Global Play after patch 2.0.1 is applied.

Diablo 3 Reaper Of Souls Teased By Blizzard

Diablo 3 Reaper Of Souls Teased By BlizzardWith Diablo 3 having been released more than a year ago, there’s a good chance that gamers have probably completed the game several times over with more than one character, and while the Paragon System does add a bit more “content” to the game, an expansion would probably serve everyone best, wouldn’t it? Last we heard Blizzard could announce the Diablo 3 expansion at Gamescom and sure enough it looks like that will be happening.

Blizzard has launched a site part of their Diablo 3 page with the title that reads “Reaper of Souls”, which some are taking to hint at the expansion’s name. Not much is known about this expansion as the page only features a quote from the Book of Tyrael saying, “Death, at least, shall spread its wings all over.” Pretty ominous stuff but either way sounds pretty exciting! Of course there’s no telling if this is the expansion for the game, or if could be a new novel, a trading card game, or whatever, but we’re definitely hoping for the best.

In related news, Blizzard has also recently trademarked “The Dark Below” title which could be a World of Warcraft expansion after Mists of Pandaria.

Blizzard Details Diablo 3 1.0.8 Co-Op Multiplayer Improvements

Blizzard Details Diablo 3 1.0.8 Co Op Multiplayer Improvements

With Diablo 3 expected to be released on the PlayStation 3 & PlayStation 4, it’s understandable some of you PC players are upset by this news considering you have yet to get the experience you’ve been wanting since its release, especially in its co-op play. Blizzard is aware of this and has revealed its plans to improve this experience in its 1.0.8 update.

The news comes straight from Blizzard’s Wyatt Cheng as he says the team will implementing a number of improvements, one of which is called Matchmaking Tags. “Patch 1.0.8 introduces the ability to specify what we call a “matchmaking tag” for Public Games,” Cheng explains. “The way this new system will work is pretty simple: in addition to selecting a difficulty, quest, and MP level, you can also select a tag that will identify what kind of gameplay you’re looking for from a Public Game.” (more…)

Diablo 3 on PS4 to Have an Offline Multiplayer Mode: That’s Cold, Blizzard. Real Cold.

I was one of the millions of people who waited for hours in line to get a copy of Diablo III. I’m also one of the many people who are severely disappointed with how the game turned out. There may be hope for gamers wanting to try out the game’s upcoming PS3 and PS4 release though, because it has at least one advantage over the PC and MAC versions: offline multiplayer.

diablo iii playstation 3 and playstation 4

Strangely enough, Blizzard’s blog post and press release announcing the console port don’t make a big deal of this feature, which I’m sure is sorely missed by Diablo II players. The press release simply says, “Players will be able to battle their way through the story in single-player mode and also experience the hack-and-slash joy of destroying demons and collecting loot together with their friends via seamless four-player online and local co-op modes.” Blizzard Production Director John Hight did mention the same feature in an interview with GameTrailers’ Geoff Keighley (skip to 2:35 for the relevant part). Sadly Keighley did not press Blizzard whether or not the single-player mode will have an offline mode as well. I guess we’re going to know more later this March at PAX East, where the PS3 port of the game will be playable.

As someone who doesn’t have a high end – or even average-end – Internet connection, the always online requirement of Diablo III is one of my biggest complaints about the game. I wonder if Blizzard is considering making offline modes available across the board.

But the main reason I stopped playing Diablo III is its Auction House. For me, the appeal of Diablo is the chance of acquiring good loot. As it is, the game’s loop and immersion is broken for me. I hope – for the sake of the people who are going to buy the console versions of the game, I’m not going to be talked into buying this thing twice – that Diablo III on the PS3 and PS4 also gets rid of the Auction House and just hikes up drop rates for loot.

Blizzard Black Friday Lets You Save $20 On Hit Titles

Blizzard knows that times are hard these days, and there will always be a market of price sensitive gamers who do not want to pick up a game when it is first released simply because they know that the games will go on sale months down the road. If you happen to fall under that category, then you might be interested to find out that Blizzard is also joining in on the Black Friday sale, letting you save $20 on Diablo III and StarCraft II: Wings of Liberty.

In fact, Blizzard claims that these savings are “too epic to be contained within a single day”, which is why the Blizzard Black Friday discounts are already set in motion. For this week only, you will be able to save $20 each on Diablo III and StarCraft II: Wings of Liberty in the Blizzard Store, making us wonder what are you going to do with the $40 that you save assuming you picked up both titles? Perhaps that extra money could be used to pick up other Black Friday deals on World of Warcraft and its expansions, but this is only available at select retail locations. The Blizzard Black Friday deals will end next Monday.
