Diablo 3 fan site gives free money with each passing week

Whoever said that there is no free lunch in this world? Diablo 3 fan site Diablo3.org is currently performing charity in a digital manner – and I am referring to the site practically giving away free money each week. Users are sent the relevant information each week on the method to end up as a contest winner, and most of the time, it would require one to post relevant information concerning Diablo 3 so that other users who are not as creative as you will be able to get through the more difficult bits of the game, and you are also free to contribute further tips on the phenomenally popular dungeon crawler. The prize money is rather small at just $50 weekly at this point in time, but at least you can have a nice meal with that kind of money still.

Diablo3.org mentioned, “We plan to increase the prize winnings month after month. Right now its at $50 a week, or $200 a month, but we hope to get the cash prize up to possibly even $1000 a week!” Well, what do you think of this particular model to beget more and more users to the fan site?

Diablo 3 arcade cabinet built by passion for the game

It is safe to assume that a fair number of us grew up in arcades, feeding those machines quarter after quarter as a rite of passage, where we pick up all the different skills along the way in order ot master a particular game, moving on to other different titles afterwards. When it comes to dungeon hack and slash titles on the PC platform, the preferred mode of control by many would be the classic keyboard and mouse combination, something which has long been taken as the de facto standard. How about transforming your Diablo 3 experience, character exploits or not, into a totally different one? What you see demonstrated in the video above is a DIY project that sees Dave Niewinksi to transfer the essence of Diablo 3 into an old-school arcade machine, and I would say that his efforts have been pretty much successful from what we could see.

Made out of plywood and emblazoned with decals that were borrowed from Blizzard and cgtextures.com, Dave’s very own arcade cabinet relied on a VB.NET-powered program it order to have the physical controls and the game work in tandem without any hold up whatsoever. There were no modifications made to the game files, and according to Dave himself, “Everything works outside of the game.” There does not seem to have any opportunities to throw in quarters into this machine for sure.

Diablo 3 story is pretty damn weak, says Hollywood screenwriter

American screenwriter and film director John August, who wrote for several of Tim Burton’s films as well as the popular Charlie’s Angels flick, has some words to say about the hot Diable 3 video game. The Hollywood screenwriter, who just finished playing the game, said that the storytelling in Diablo 3 is pretty damn weak. August also tweeted a few days ago after finishing the game saying, “Finished Diablo 3. Writing credits are pretty deep in the end crawl, consistent with how little they cared.” (more…)

Blizzard issues hotfix for Diablo 3 Barbarian exploit

It seems that Blizzard’s Diablo 3 seems to have one God-mode exploit after the other. First it was the Wizard, which was then promptly hotfixed, and was then followed up by the Barbarian, although in the case of the Barbarian it was not so much a God-mode, but rather an incredibly-hard-to-die mode. That being said, the hotfix has since been rolled out putting an end to gamers who might have been abusing the exploit to their advantage. At this point it does not appear that there are other similar exploits to be had for the remaining classes (Demon Hunter, Witch Doctor and Monk), but we’ll be keeping our eyes peeled. In the meantime if you do stumble across a similar exploit, we suggest you avoid taking advantage of it as Blizzard has announced in the past that cheaters will have their accounts banned, and has been several thousand accounts to prove how serious they were.

Advocacy group threatens legal action over Diablo III always-on DRM

Diablo III has attracted a healthy amount of controversy since launch, with most of that controversy focused around the game’s always-online requirement. Blizzard‘s announcement of the always-on DRM was met with considerable outcry from fans, and it caused plenty of problems on launch day, as Blizzard’s Diablo III servers repeatedly crumbled under the stress of so many logins. It was enough to send any gamer into a rage, and now a German consumer advocacy group called the Federation of Consumer Organizations is looking to do something about it.

According to German gaming site PC Gamer (via CinemaBlend), the group has given Blizzard until July 27 to repackage Diablo III boxes and make the always-on requirement clearer to prospective buyers. If Blizzard doesn’t comply, then the group may bring the issue before a judge. The group argues that consumers should be warned of things like always-on DRM (and the server downtime that could occur as a result) before purchasing the product, and that the fine-print warning which currently graces the back of Diablo III‘s box simply doesn’t cut it.

That sounds like a pretty reasonable demand, to be honest. Sure, those who read gaming blogs on a regular basis were up in arms about the online requirement months before the game released, but the majority of players probably don’t check gaming blogs all that often. So, the Federation of Consumer Organizations is making a demand that will surely be popular with the many disgruntled Diablo III owners out there, but will it work? That remains to be seen. Keep it tuned to SlashGear for more information on this rather interesting development.

Diablo 3 barbarian exploit revealed

It’s been less than a day since the Diablo 3 godmode wizard exploit was fixed and now there’s another one already discovered. While it’s not as game breaking as the previous exploit, this new bug will make barbarian characters a lot more powerful. All barbarians have to do is equip Furious Charge with the Dreadnought Rune, and then charge into an opening cinematic (i.e. before a boss battle) to enable it. The effects? 8% of your HP back with every hit you make. Technically it’s not going to let you mow down enemies without a care in the world, you’ll have a hard time dying as long as you can keep attacking something.

No word on when Blizzard will be issuing a fix for this problem, but judging by its quick reaction to the wizard exploit, it shouldn’t be too long. Check out a video demo of it above.

Diablo 3′s Wizard God-mode exploit squashed in recent hotfix

Remember yesterday we reported that thanks to an exploit, it was discovered that the Wizard class could essentially achieve invulnerability, thus allowing players to go on a rampage without fear of dying (hello Hardcore mode!). Safe to assume Blizzard worked quickly to squash that bug and have since rolled out a hotfix to address the issue, and releasing a statement at the same time:

“We are currently rolling out a hotfix for a recent bug regarding invulnerable Wizards. We will continue to carefully monitor this issue and welcome anyone with information about bugs or hacks to submit a detailed report to our Hacks Team by emailing hacks@blizzard.com, or by completing the Hacks Report web form. In your correspondence, please include any steps necessary to replicate the issue as well as any additional details you are able to provide.”

So if you were a little slow on the take, your chance at experiencing a invulnerable wizard might be over. Then again, that’s probably a good thing since exploiting the game could ultimately lead to your account getting banned!

Diablo III exploit makes Wizard characters invincible

A new exploit has been discovered in Diablo III that makes Wizard characters essentially invincible. The exploit reportedly works for both Softcore and Hardcore characters, which has some players up in arms and others scrambling to complete Hardcore more before Blizzard issues a fix. In the meantime, Blizzard has been removing forum posts that mention the exploit in a effort to keep the amount of people using it in-game to a minimum.

The exploit is performed by using the Wizard’s Teleport and Archon abilities in quick succession. One poster on the Blizzard forums listed the steps required to make this exploit work, but Blizzard has since removed the step-by-step guide to making your Wizard invulnerable. Kotaku managed to swipe the list before Blizzard moderators were able to take it down, however, so here’s what you need to do in order to enjoy a risk-free romp through Sanctuary:

Step 1: Select Teleport – Fracture. Bind it to a key
Step 2: Select Archon, tested with Improved Archon
Step 3: Hover your mouse over or near your charcter
Step 4: Press Teleport
Step 5: QUICKLY(!) Press Archon

Many other posters in the thread have confirmed that the exploit works, and though some say that it takes a couple of tries to get the rhythm down, pulling off this exploit is apparently pretty simple once you get the hang of it. As with other game-breaking exploits and bugs in Diablo III, Blizzard will likely push a fix out the door quickly, so if you’re planning on making use of this particular exploit, do so with the knowledge that it probably won’t be long before Blizzard fixes it.

Diablo 3′s always-on mode does not sit well with German consumer advocacy group

Diablo 3It is safe to assume that the majority of Diablo 3 players aren’t too happy with Blizzard’s always-on model when it comes to the game. While Blizzard claims it was done so in order to help combat piracy amongst other things, it is certainly most inconvenient especially for players with slow internet connection or who are travelling and do not have internet access, but want to get in some gaming time. While it does not look like Blizzard will be “fixing” this anytime soon, it has been reported (via PC Games) that German consumer advocacy group, the Federation of Consumer Organizations, have given Blizzard until the 20th of July to repackage the game to indicate that not only is an internet connection required to play the game, but the connection must be a persistent one as well.

The group has also given Blizzard until the 27th of July to respond or they will be pursuing this issue in the courts. This isn’t the first time Blizzard has gotten into trouble over Diablo 3, and recently it was reported that they were fined $7,000 in South Korea over numerous complaints about the game.

Diablo 3 exploit uncovered, turns on God-mode for the Wizard class

Back when I used to play Diablo and Diablo 2, there were hacks, also known as “trainers”, which basically let you alter the stats of your characters, giving them unlimited health, mana, items, gold and etc. However come Diablo 3 and with its always-on mode, there seemed to be a lack of trainers, instead gamers had to rely on exploiting bugs in the game to put themselves ahead of the curve, assuming they didn’t get caught in the process. Well here’s one exploit that players of the Wizard class might want to take a look at which apparently enables God mode, making players invulnerable. Safe to say Blizzard will be working quick to squash this bug ASAP and since we don’t really approve to players exploiting games and using cheats to get ahead, we will not be posting the instructions here. However if you are curious, the steps are available on Blizzard’s Diablo 3 forum, but be warned as you could get into trouble if you are caught exploiting it!
