D-Link DCS-825L WiFi Baby Camera

D Link DCS 825L WiFi Baby Camera[CES 2014] I’m not sure why, but the “baby monitor” function seems to be getting a boost at CES. I have seen a couple of new twists on this otherwise well-known “need”, but I have to admit that I didn’t see it coming when D-Link told me that they were integrating a temperature sensor in their D-Link DCS-825L WiFi Baby Camera. If you just look at the specifications, this is really the main difference between this product and other home surveillance competitors like Samsung. However, a closer inspection reveals important user-interface details like the Lullabies playback which makes the 825L truly dedicated to baby surveillance and dare I say, communications. (more…)

    D-Link DIR-510L WiFi AC750 Travel Router / Charger

D Link DIR 510L WiFi AC750 Travel Router / Charger[CES 2014] With the explosion of smart devices connecting over WiFi, having travel routers have gone from being a superfluous element to being money-saving objects. Since many hotels charge “per device”, I have seen quite a few people get into situations where they got charged separately for the laptop, smartphone and tablet in the same room. The D-Link WiFi AC750 has been created exactly to avoid these types of situations by letting you share an internet connection (3G, WiFi or Ethernet) with all your devices. (more…)

    D-Link Network Video Recorder DNR-312L

D Link Network Video Recorder DNR 312L[CES 2014] With ever greater storage capacity at hand, the home and small business video recording market is growing steadily but remains largely untapped when compared to more established markets like routers or even network attached storage. The D-Link Network Video Recorder (NVR) DNR-312L has been designed to be relatively easy to setup since D-Link develops the IP (Internet Protocol) cameras and the video recorder itself. (more…)

D-Link Gaming Router pre-orders now available

When it comes to networking devices, many of us would definitely have heard of the name “D-Link” before, as this particular company is no stranger at all after being in the market for so many years. They have had their fair share of hits in the past, but if you were to have a parallel in contemporary terms, D-Link’s brand is somewhat like Toyota or Honda – delivering a functional and reliable device, and yet they are not really all that eye-catching in the first place, and neither does it make the heart race when one sets their eyes on it. Having said that, D-Link has just made available the pre-order of their most advanced Gaming Router ever, the D-Link Gaming Router with Qualcomm StreamBoost technology, or the DGL-5500 if model numbers are your cup of tea.

The D-Link Gaming Router would come with AC1300 wireless speeds that are unique to traffic shaping and bandwidth management, and it will also work in tandem with a quartet of gigabit Ethernet ports so that it can deliver the ultimate in gaming performance, media streaming and network control. Of course, placing a pre-order would still mean that a little bit of waiting is in order, and those who are interested in picking up the D-Link Gaming Router at $199.99 a pop via newegg.com would have to wait until August 1st for shipping to commence.

Listen to what Daniel Kelley, vice president of marketing, D-Link Systems, Inc., had to say about the Gaming Router, “The Gaming Router represents the ultimate in high-performance connectivity to give power users the ability and control they need to do what they love online without the concern or interruption of buffering and lag. Today’s action role-playing games and MMOs are more competitive than ever and with limited bandwidth coming into the home, gamers need to ensure they’re making the most of their connectivity to maintain an advantage. With Qualcomm StreamBoost technology, the new Gaming Router is designed to do just that – shape the network traffic to help gamers do more and lag less.”

I admit, this is the first time that I have heard about the Qualcomm StreamBoost technology, but apparently it has been designed to deliver a robust connected experience to users regardless of the device that they use over the home network, and this is achieved by intelligently managing and shaping traffic, while providing individual devices and applications the priority and bandwidth required in order to enjoy optimal performance.

    D-Link AC 1300 (DGL-5500) Gaming Router

DGL 5500 BACK 640x311 D Link AC 1300 (DGL 5500) Gaming Router[CES 2013] When it comes to routers, you know that the name D-Link can be trusted. After all, they have been around for a fair number of years, and this time around, gamers might want to sit up and take notice at the D-Link AC 1300 (DGL-5500) gaming router which is said to deliver the best kind of performance possible at a decent price range for both gaming and HD video streaming purposes. The inclusion of Dual Band technology ensures interference-free bandwidth under most circumstances, while StreamBoost technology will be able to intelligently allocate the right amount of bandwidth for the best gaming experience.

Going by the full name of “Wireless AC1300 Dual Band Gigabit Gaming Router” (what a mouthful!), let us talk more about how StreamBoost technology works. With the integrated StreamBoost QoS engine, it is capable of intelligently prioritizing bandwidth in order to relegate both lag and buffering into history books as it manages your connection automatically, while giving you the option of manually routing additional bandwidth to a specific activity, with even the choice of routing such bandwidth to a specific device, now how about that? Does it deserve the “World’s Fastest Wi-Fi” tag? Only time will tell as the AC 1300 hits the market, so hopefully D-Link’s latest gaming route would have the “muscle” to back up such lofty claims.
