Every season, there will be a new digital camera that rolls out to the masses. After all, you can’t be using the same shooter all the time, can you? Actually you can for a fair number of years, but the consumer electronics companies want you to think otherwise. Having said that, the folks over at Panasonic has unveiled their DMC-ZS40 digital compact camera that will feature a LVF (Live View Finder) that boasts of a powerful 30x optical zoom (35mm equivalent: 24-720mm), making it the new flagship for the popular ZS series. This will be a pocket-friendly high performance ZS range which has picked up worldwide popularity for its versatile lens, boasting ultra wide-angle to telephoto and high quality image recording capability, regardless of whether you are shooting a photo or a video.
Panasonic has managed to integrate a 24mm ultra wide-angle 30x zoom lens in a slim, flat body, while the advanced HYBRID O.I.S.+ (Hybrid Optical Image Stabilizer Plus) is said to be able to do a good job in suppressing hand movement effectively when it comes to both photo and video recording.
Sporting a 18.1-megapixel High Sensitivity MOS sensor and the advanced image processor Venus Engine that features high speed, high sensitivity image recording, it will be able to achieve 1920 x 1080 60p Full HD video recording capability in AVCHD Progressive format as well as high speed burst that shoots at 10 fps with high picture quality. Apart from that, it also comes with quick start-up and Light Speed Auto Focus in order to catch the most fleeting shooting opportunities.
There is also Wi-Fi connectivity and NFC (Near Field Communication) technology support, letting you hook up the camera to one’s smartphone or tablet with but a touch, or to read the embedded QR code without having to find a cable or look for a Wi-Fi hotspot. There is also an integrated GPS (Global Positioning System) that complies with GLONASS (Global Navigation Satellite System) for a higher level of accuracy.
