Sonic Screwdriver Tattoo Won’t Unlock Doors, but is the Key to My Heart

Okay guys, prepare to have your hearts won over by this female Doctor Who fan who has a sexy Doctor Who tattoo. The tattoo is of a garter holding a Sonic Screwdriver. After all, that really is the best place to hold your Sonic Screwdriver.

If you had said the words “Sonic Screwdriver tattoo” before I saw this image, I would have never imagined something so provocative. I wonder if all the female companions have one and we just didn’t know it.

Now I really want to see some girls wearing Slave Leia outfits with blasters tattooed on their leg. There is clearly a whole untapped area here of weapons that could be tattooed on one’s leg. I’ll be awaiting your submissions ladies.

Doctor Who “Summer Falls” Book Will Be Available as an Ebook Tomorrow

Anyone who watched last Saturday night’s Doctor Who episode noticed the book Summer Falls by Amelia Williams when Clara and Artie talked about it. And no doubt you were interested in what lies between the pages. Well, starting tomorrow you’ll be able to download it as an eBook.

doctor who summer falls

In the episode it was hinted that there was something special in chapter 11. Something that will make you cry your eyes out. Here’s a synopsis.

When summer falls, the Lord of Winter will arise…”

In the seaside village of Watchcombe, young Kate is determined to make the most of her last week of summer holiday. But when she discovers a mysterious painting entitled ‘The Lord of Winter’ in a charity shop, it leads her on an adventure she never could have planned. Kate soon realises the old seacape, painted long ago by an eccentric local artist, is actually a puzzle. And with the help of some bizarre new acquaintances – including a museum curator’s magical cat, a miserable neighbour, and a lonely boy – she plans on solving it.

And then, one morning Kate wakes up to a world changed forever. For the Lord of Winter is coming – and Kate has a very important decision to make.

Sounds like it will tie everything together. We hope so anyway – and that it isn’t just marketing with no point.

Frosty the Snow Dalek Was a Jolly Happy EXTERMINATE!!! EXTERMINATE!!!

England has been having quite a bad winter this year, with snow continuing well into this month. That’s why I wouldn’t be surprised if Doctor Who landed his TARDIS somewhere in the UK and encountered this… a snow Dalek.

snow dalek

Thankfully, Davros didn’t create an actual snow Dalek. It’s just a harmless sculpture made by DeviantArtist E-The-Zombie and her sister Fezhead11, and it’s not even in the UK.

While a snow Dalek might want to exterminate you, the good news is that you can actually just pour warm water over it to put it out of commission. I suppose that’s easier than having to install staircases everywhere.

Doctor Who Storybook Corsets All Have a Happy Ending

We’ve seen a couple of TARDIS corsets before, but hubba hubba, these Doctor Who Storybook corsets look sexy AND tell a story at the same time. They are the product of an artist and a clothing designer getting together to make some awesome clothing.

Artist Karen Hallion and Mad Girl Clothing/Pendragon Studios teamed up to produce these corsets that show off Karen’s artwork which shows some classic story book characters heading off for adventures with The Doctor. The art is pretty amazing and it is a great idea.

You can order them over on Etsy for $195(USD) each. You can choose from The Little Mermaid, Cinderella, Alice in Wonderland or Beauty from Beauty and the Beast. And if you prefer van Gogh to Walt Disney, you can always go with this design, with fabric by Studio Fibonacci.

Why have we not seen a companion wearing a corset anyway? I guess it would be hard to blend in with the locals when time traveling.

Doctor Who Disappearing Tardis Pint Glasses

You know what they say about starting them from young – if you are a huge fan of the Doctor Who series, then you would want to introduce your progeny to the likes of Daleks, the concept of time travel, as well as the Tardis, and if your teen has grown up to be a responsible adult, how about bonding over a few shots of tequila the next time you meet, and to chat about all things Doctor Who? You might as well set the stage for the occasion with the $19.99 Doctor Who Disappearing Tardis Pint Glasses, and these pint glasses will do exactly as they were meant to – that is, carry your favorite alcoholic beverage in shot glasses, with the Tardis turning bright blue with cold drinks inside.

Each of the Doctor Who Disappearing Tardis Pint Glasses will be able to hold 16 ounces of liquor, and remember not to dump these into the dishwasher once you are done with it as you would want to preserve the “magic”, so to speak. You will get a set of 2 color-changing Tardis pint glasses, where at regular temperatures, the Tardis would remain a pale blue.

Geeky Hand Towels: Cleanliness is Next to Geekiness

Etsy seller Elizabeth Dean’s hand towels are embroidered with icons from classic videogames and sci-fi franchises, including Super Mario Bros., The Legend of Zelda and Doctor Who. They’re great for tidying up the occasional geekgasm. Actually I don’t know what that’s like and I don’t want to know.

Just look at that Kirby hand towel. How can anyone resist that face? Plus it probably gets bigger as it gets wetter. I’m sorry I meant it gets bigger as you use it. Dammit lets just look at the pictures!

You can order the hand towels from Elizabeth’s Etsy shop Seams Geeky for $10 to $13 (USD) each. That Star Trek towel will go where no towel has gone before. I’m going to stop now.

Donkey Kong Remade as Science Fiction & Fantasy Series

Whenever I get a chance, I like to dust off my arcade emulator and try to see if I can get any further at Donkey Kong than the first couple of levels. Even after all of these years, the game still kicks my ass every time. But if the game were loaded with aliens and villains from science fiction and fantasy, I’m betting it would be even harder to beat then going up against Kong and his stupid flaming barrels.

alien kong

That’s exactly what deviantARTist BazNet set out to explore with his series of Donkey Kong levels inspired by classic science fiction and fantasy movies and TV series. I can’t decide which I like the best, but the Alien and Doctor Who ones are among my favorites. I would not want to try and jump over Facehuggers or Daleks. The Adventure Time version is pretty great too, though it needs more Beemo. There are also The Dark Knight Rise, Game of Thrones, Empire Strikes Back and Return of the Jedi levels. And while it doesn’t qualify as science fiction or fantasy, Cookie Kong is pretty swell too.

Lost Episode of Doctor Who Being Reanimated

Doctor Who has been around for half a century now. And many of the earliest episodes were lost or destroyed early in its history. The fourth episode of “The Tenth Planet,” a story featuring the first regeneration to the second Doctor, was lost in the 1970s. All that was left was a short clip of the regeneration. Now technology saves the day.

To the delight of fans everywhere, Planet 55 Studios is re-creating the lost episode in an animated format. They have been working on it for two years, and now they have released the first clip. In it you can see the regeneration scene and it looks pretty great.

I don’t know about you, but I can’t wait to see more.

Doctor Who TARDIS Cake Pops: Tasty and Really Delicious InSide

If you’ve been reading Technabob for any period of time, you know that I have a love for Doctor Who. I also have a terrible sweet tooth. So I’m a real sucker for things which cross those two streams. Take, for example, these TARDIS cake pops.

tardis cake pops

Yes, I know they’re not the most technically-accurate blue police boxes you’ve ever seen, but they probably got a bit timey-wimey and wibbley-wobbley traveling across time and space from their baker’s oven.

They’re handmade made by Brittney of BeSweets and a set of 10 TARDIS cake pops costs just $18(USD) – which really isn’t bad given all the work that must go into making each of these pops. You can even choose from 22 different cake flavors, each coated with white (blue?) chocolate. While you’re over there, pick up some TARDIS oreos to go with. What, no Jammie Dodgers?
