Dragon Age: Inquisition Character Kits: Cosplay Canon

Video game characters are some of the most popular cosplay models. Unsurprisingly, many employees at game developer BioWare also love to cosplay. Those employees decided to make it easier for cosplayers to replicate the appearance of the characters in their upcoming RPG Dragon Age: Inquisition by releasing what they call Character Kits.

The Character Kits contain information such as specific colors, materials and the fashion sense of characters. The first kit is for Dragon Age mainstay Morrigan.

This should make it much easier for cosplayers and other craftsmen – bakers, illustrators, etc. – to emulate the costumes.

Dragon Age: Inquisition Releasing Fall 2014

[Update: We’ve updated this story to include the developer diary shown at Gamescom today.]

Bioware announced Dragon Age: Inquisition late last year, which we learned earlier this year it would be using DICE’s Frostbite 3 engine,  which if you’ve seen demos of Battlefield 4, you’ll know exactly why this is a big deal. During EA’s Gamescom presentation, BioWare gave some additional details surrounding the upcoming title. (more…)

Next Mass Effect, Dragon Age 3 Will Use Battlefield 4 Engine

Were you as amazed as we were by Battlefield 4′s 17 minutes of gameplay footage EA & DICE released yesterday? We know you’re probably already putting money aside to pick up Battlefield 4 when it’s released this fall, but you might want to open your wallets a little bit wider for when the next Mass Effect and Dragon Age are announced.

BioWare Edmonton and Montreal general manager Aaryn Flynn revealed on his Twitter yesterday both the Dragon Age 3: Inquisition and the next Mass Effect will be using DICE’s Frostbite 3 engine, which was the same engine Battlefield 4 was built on. Unfortunately, DICE’s Frostbite 3 engine currently doesn’t support the Wii U, which means you probably shouldn’t expect to see it on that console for some time. (more…)

Dragon Age 3: Inquisition To Arrive In 2014?

Hmmm, it seems that Dragon Age 3: Inquisition, long hailed to be a next-gen console title, will be hitting the market sometime in 2014 instead of 2013 as originally envisioned. Just how did this juicy rumor get out of the gates? Well, an Electronic Arts Shanghai level designer’s resume appeared on LinkedIn recently (which has since been deleted, naturally) which claimed that the game’s scope has already changed, and it is being planned to be a next generation title. It does make some sense when you sit down and think about it considering how next generation consoles from Microsoft and Sony, if any, have yet to be announced officially, and certainly the recently released Nintendo Wii U is not going to be able to have the necessary processing firepower to handle a game like this, right?

Well, in the first place, EA and BioWare announced Dragon Age 3 without revealing just which platforms that the game will make its appearance on, so it has every right to be a next generation title. If you are a gamer, would you prefer Dragon Age 4 to be a next generation console game and get your kicks from Dragon Age 3: Inquisition on the PS3 and/or Xbox 360 instead?

Dragon Age 3: Inquisition announced by Bioware

Bioware has just announced Dragon Age 3: Inquisition, and the team developing it will be the same one that worked on Dragon Age: Origins, so you can be sure that “Inquisition” should continue in the fine Bioware tradition of exceptional story telling within the CRPG genre. Do expect Dragon Age 3: Inquisition to make use of DICE’s Frostbite 2 engine, and just in case that particular engine sounds familiar to you, it is because that is the very same engine that will also see action for other upcoming EA published games including Command & Conquer: Generals 2, Medal of Honor: Warfighter 2 and Army of Two: The Devil’s Cartel.

Dragon Age 3: Inquisition has been under development for a couple of years already, and the third game in the series will definitely reflect new features that are the result of fan feedback, and this bit of news will definitely bode well for fans of the upcoming title. Right now, Dragon Age 3: Inquisition has been slated for a late 2013 release, so you might want to concentrate on other games first as the end of next year is still a relatively long way off. No mention on the specific platform(s) Dragon Age 3: Inquisition will arrive on, but we can assume that the usual suspects of the PC, Xbox 360 and the PS3 will be part of the equation.
