Cutaway or cross-section drawings
What are you going to remember from the year 2013? Will you think of all the great people we’ve lost? Will you think about Miley’s tongue? Will you think about Game of Thrones or Orange Is the New Black? Sports? Twerking? Viral videos? Movies? iPhones? Xbox Ones and PS4s? Maybe all of that. Maybe more. With two weeks left in the year, Mario Zucca drew a fantastically wonderful image for Beutler Ink to summarize all the happenings of 2013. There was a lot.
Have you used Paper
If you’re an artist or designer with an iPad, chances are you have come across Paper
Livescribe pens are popular and powerful recording tools, but they only work with Livescribe’s own notebooks. A new product called the iSketchnote can’t record audio, but it presents a cheaper and more intuitive way of recording your drawing or writing. I think it can also be a good way to introduce luddites to the wonders of technology. By technology, I mean the iPad.
The first model of the iSketchnote will be an iPad cover. The back of the cover has an array of sensors where you’ll place any A5-sized paper or notebook. The iSketchnote pen is just a normal pen except it has a ring-shaped magnet embedded inside. When you fire up the iSketchnote iPad app and start writing or drawing, you’ll see your work get copied in real time on the iPad. When you’re done, you can replay the recording and share it online right from the app.
The final version of the iSketchnote app will also let you change the colors of the ink, support multiple layers and more. The company behind iSketchnote also hopes they can make their device compatible with popular writing apps like Paper and Evernote. But the iSketchnote can actually work even without the iPad, but you’ll need to supply an SD card so it can store data.
Pledge at least $149 (USD) on Kickstarter to get an iSketchnote as a reward. But before you pledge note that the first batch will only be compatible with the iPad 3 and later. The company behind iSketchnote did say that their technology already works with Windows, Mac OS X, Linux and Android, but they’re focusing on the iPad for now.
Wacom is covering all grounds lately with new products
There’s still no robot that can successfully fake unconditional love or a child’s innocent laughter. But now, thanks to a team of German tinkerers, there is one that can emulate a child’s uninvited wall art.
It’s not uncommon for kids to get a broken bone at some point in their life as they live a dangerous life between snacks, multiplayer sessions of Call of Duty and nap time. Having your friends sign your cast is something we’ve all grown up doing, but that trend will soon be over if something like the cast we’re featuring in this story takes off.
Instead of asking your friends and current crush to show you sympathy by signing your cast, you can decide to take life by the horns and make your cast the most badass one anyone has ever seen by drawing on it so it looks like a portion of Iron Man‘s arm. Reddit user Caligineus decided the world needed to see his friend’s hard work, and as you’d expect, the submission became an instant hit on the site.
As you can see from the image, there’s some serious detail behind the drawing, which of course features Iron Man’s Pulse Laser that shoots out from the palm of his hand. It’s going to be a shame when the doctor cuts the cast off when her arm fully heals, or maybe this person can decide to live life with a cast on since this is one awesome-looking cast.

Use Loop To Animate The World
Posted in: Today's ChiliI’m really bad at drawing. Really really really bad. Like hand turkeys and stick figures level. But Loop might be a way to bring me up a little bit. It’s an iPad app for making hand-drawn animations, but you can use it with guides like other drawings or photos for tracing. Basically there are a bunch of different ways to get going, which is what I need.
The Etch a Sketch has been used for many things in the past, but I think this is the first time that we have ever seen a TV show recap drawn out on one. Hey, drawing on the Etch a Sketch sure beats cooking meth.
Well, it is not nearly as lucrative of course. Not nearly as adventurous. But it’s an honest toy, that won’t get you into any trouble. I don’t think. Anyway, I present to you this awesome Breaking Bad recap of seasons 1-5 as told by Etch a Sketch drawings and narration. And it goes without saying… SPOILER ALERT…
Todd’s Sketches is a web series that draws everything “from pop culture to news to whatever happens to be on his mind” using his Etch a Sketch.
This is the premiere episode. Enjoy.
