Star Wars Hits the Runway at NY Fashion Week

Need some new, high fashion clothes? New York Fashion Week has you covered. Check out these Star Wars outfits seen here modeled by a group of women who don’t look like they’ve eaten a decent meal since 1999. These Star Wars dresses are designed by fashion house Rodarte.

They are floor-length embroidered gowns featuring the printed likenesses of Luke Skywalker, Master Yoda, C-3PO and R2-D2, Tatooine and the Death Star. Personally, I prefer my X-Wing Fighters going down a Death Star trench, not a runway in New York, but more Star Wars clothes are always welcome, I suppose.

Great show, girls. Now go eat a cracker or two. And just because you regurgitate every meal, that doesn’t mean that you get to be the Sarlacc Pit. Modeling is so silly.

Half TARDIS, Half Dalek Dress Is All Awesome

Can’t decide whether you want a TARDIS dress or a Dalek Dress? Why not have both? This neat dress mashes up both. It’s like the TARDIS collided with a Dalek and now they share the same space.

This corset dress was designed by cosplayer Bewitched Raven and it is beautiful. It’s got a Dalek on one side and the TARDIS on the other side. The Doctor really should have fixed the de-materialization circuit. This is what can happen.

This dress has a ton of nice detail, like the single door handle on the TARDIS side, and the matching headpieces. It all comes together perfectly. Great job! How about a Cyberman mashed up with Dalek now? That would be awesome.

Gold Dalek Dress Makes Cosplay Easy

We’ve seen some pretty cool Doctor Who themed cosplay outfits in the past, including Dalek and Tardis dresses. The catch was those costumes were homemade. If you lack the time or skills to make your own stuff, we have the outfit for you.

ThinkGeek has rolled out a Doctor Who costume that requires no effort on your part, other than perhaps talking your girlfriend into wearing the dress if you’re buying it as a gift. The Gold Dalek A-Line Dress is strapless, short, and fitted in just the right places. It’s perfect for walking around and saying “The Daleks Survive in Me!”

It sells for $44.99(USD) over at ThinkGeek, but is currently on sale for just $33.74

Star Wars Opening Crawl Dress: Does This Text Make Me Look Fat?

The Star Wars opening crawl. It changed movies and the world forever. To this day I perk up when I hear John Williams title theme, just like a geeky trained dog. That text changed the lives of many humans. And now I present the Star Wars opening crawl dress.

It was spotted by the folks at Her Universe. You might also notice that it has a matching purse and a Death Star hat with a TIE Fighter. This Dragon Con attendee did an amazing job on it. One has to wonder how many marriage proposals she got that day.

Too bad girls can’t buy one for themselves. It looks awesome.

Black Milk Mass Effect Clothing: The Sexiest Clothes in the Citadel

Black Milk Clothing’s combination of body hugging fit and geeky coating has been a winning formula so far. A lot of people love (being seen) wearing them. Even more people love looking at their product shots. The shop’s officially licensed Mass Effect line is no different.

The leggings, dresses and swimsuits are available in a variety of designs, including the N7 insignia, a drawing of Tali and pages taken from what I assume to be the official Mass Effect comics.

These Dresses Were Made Using Magnets

These Dresses Were Made Using Magnets

Other than lasers and Elon Musk, magnets might be the most superhuman objects we have on this dear Earth of ours. They can make things fly, they can make things stick, they can demolish laptops, they can make you squeal and scream and feel like a kid. Another thing magnets can do? Make clothes. The two dresses above were "grown" using magnets.

Inflatable Boat Dress: Does This Make My Butt Look Big?

So, when your wife puts on this inflatable boat dress, how are you going to answer when she asks if it accentuates her rear end? No, it doesn’t make your aft look big at all – your fore and aft are the same size.
boat dress
This crazy-looking dress can be a floatation device should you be on a cruise and find yourself in the drink. Jacqueline Bradley’s “Boat Dress” is hard to wear on land, but could save your life under the right circumstances. Think of it as a raft that you can wear.

Of course, you can’t dance in it or navigate a crowded street… You really can’t do anything except survive in the water. Until the sharks come, that is.

Activist Twitter Dress Streams Political Tweets

You are what you wear. Sometimes, you can send the loudest of messages without saying a single word. You can let your clothes do all the talking instead.

For example, take the Twitter Dress developed by creative agency Deportivo. This isn’t the first dress that displays tweets, although it’s the first one that’s political in nature.

Activist Twitter

The dress was created to help Sweden’s youth get their voices heard at Almedalen Week, which is an annual political summit where thousands of politicians, celebrities, and PR people will converge to attend seminars, discuss issues, and talk politics. Deportivo worked with youth organization Crossing Borders in the creation of the dress, which you can see in action in the Vine animation below:

Crossing Borders recruited 30 “ambassadors” to wear the dress before the summit began. Their goal was to get the organization’s concerns out there by catching the attention of people who can actually do something about it – in this case, the people in attendance at Almedalen.

After the summit, Deportivo’s Stefan Ronge reported: “The Twitter Dress got a pledge from the minister of equality, Maria Arnholm, on addressing the issue of mandatory education on gender equality for Swedish teachers.”

The Force is Strong with This Star Wars Dress Made from Bedsheets

We’ve seen some fun Star Wars dresses, but this is one of my favorite yet. It looks so awesome because it is made from vintage Star Wars bedsheets. That material makes this dress authentically vintage, while being a totally fashionable dress you could wear out on the town.

star wars dress 1 When Cindy of Cation Designs acquired some original Star Wars: A New Hope sheets from a friend, she just had to make a neat dress from it. For some reason Cindy is pretty critical of it on her blog, but I think it looks great.

She has some other geeky dresses on her site as well if you aren’t into Star Wars. The woman is does amazing stuff with bedsheets. No, I didn’t mean… She makes a really nice dress, that’s all.
