Rubbee transforms your normal bicycle into an electric one

rubbeeThere are bicycles, and then there is the next step up – electric bicycles, which would definitely come in handy especially when you live in extremely hilly areas such as San Francisco. Of course, purists would want to argue against the presence of electric bicycles in the market, touting that it takes away the experience of pushing your physical self to the limit, but others who are more practical would not mind getting some assistance from technological advancements, too. The thing is, purchasing an electric bicycle outright from the market could be pretty expensive, as the cost could run into a few thousand for the higher end models, which is why the Rubbee device that you see here – a Kickstarter project that is extremely close to achieving its funding goal with four days left, could be a viable alternative.

The Rubbee is an easy conversion device which will be able to transform your current, manually powered (pedal powered in other words) bicycle into an electric one, taking just a matter of seconds to get the job done. The Rubbee would tip the scales at just 14 lbs, and it is capable of offering assistance as you cycle for up to 15 miles of travel on a full charge, hitting a top speed of 15 mph along the way, courtesy of its integrated battery pack which carries a full charge of 20,000 mAh. The Rubbee will take approximately 2 hours to fully juice up, so you can always do so at the end of the day so that it can be ready to jump into action the next morning.

Installation of the Rubbee is simple and painless – you need not have to tinker around with wires and tools the way a standard conversion kit requires you to, but rather, it boasts of a design which was specially intended to reduce wear on your bike’s wheel, where kinetic force will then charge the Rubbee’s battery pack, and if you need a break during the ride, you can also ensure that the tire does not touch the Rubbee. Would the £799 price tag slapped on the Rubbee hold you back from picking one up?

Rubbee Easy Electric Bike Conversion Gadget

Rubbee Easy Electric Bike Conversion Gadget Electric bicycles are starting to climb up the popularity charts the lower the price drops – which is pretty much in line with just about any other kinds of products that we know of in the market. Of course, there are some cyclists who deem an electric bicycle as an “insult” of sorts, because it does not challenge the human riding it to the fullest potential. If you are not that particular and prefer convenience over challenge, then the Rubbee electric bike conversion gadget, a Kickstarter project, should be right up your alley, taking but seconds to give your manual-powered bicycle (aren’t they all in the first place) an electric boost.

The Rubbee happens to be a portable, 14 pound attachment that you would hook up to your current bicycle, and it claims to deliver up to 15 miles of travel on a full charge, capable of hitting a maximum speed of 15 mph courtesy of its integrated 20,000mAh battery pack. Incidentally, that battery pack will take approximately 2 hours to fully juice up, and it can be uninstalled in a jiffy sans the need for nasty wires and tools. Would you be interested in seeing the Rubbee be realized as a commercial product? There are still four days to go before time runs out for it to hit its funding goal.

    All Terrain Electric Bicycle

We have heard of and seen electric bicycles before, but what you read about here today does seem as though it hails from the Batcave – especially when you consider how a bicycle is not meant to handle rough terrain unless it is a mountain bike, but the $9,700 All Terrain Electric Bicycle gets the job done – and in style, to boot. Yes sir, the price tag does seem to be extremely prohibitive, but you ought to remember that kind of good money that you fork out comes with quality, considering how it was designed by an aerospace engineer.

The All Terrain Electric Bicycle is the only electric bicycle of its kind that is capable of traversing deserts and tundras without batting an eyelid, and yet being fully at home gliding across pavements. It boasts of a 600-watt brushless electric motor that will drive a 14-speed gearing configuration, capable of hitting speeds of up to 40 mph on straightaways and unparalleled torque so that you can climb steep areas quickly. With a 51″-wide wheel base and 20″ diameter x 8″ wide tubeless monocoque tires, unparalleled stability is ensured during tight turns while delivering traction on dirt, sand, or snow.

    Neo Volt folding electric bicycle

Yes, we do know that folding bicycles makes life a whole lot easier when you take public transport, as your two wheeler can be comfortably carried without taking up too much space, but how about a folding electric bicycle? Voltage Cycles Sport electric bike announced

Voltage Cycles Sport is the company’s (Voltage Cycles) first production electric bike ever to roll out, and I must say, it does look rather ordinary at first glance. That is not a bad thing though, so do not take my statement in the wrong way. For starters, the Sport will boast of classic American styling and engineering that will definitely appeal to the masses, especially the more patriotic ones. The design itself is not only nice to look at, but must be functional and practical enough to meet the demands of everyday transportation. Let us see what else the Voltage Cycles Sport has to offer in the extended post, shall we?

Marty Schlesinger, President of Voltage Cycles, said, “The Voltage Cycles Sport is for anyone who wants to integrate a healthy, environmentally friendly, and economical form of transportation into their lifestyle. Voltage Cycles represents the new road ahead for personal transportation, and we are looking to earn our place in the family garage.”

Integrated into the vintage Sport design would lie a modern electrical propulsion system which is capable of pushing the Sport to the leading edge of technological advancement, and Voltage Cycles hope that this will be able to deliver a “Wow!” factor that cannot be found elsewhere. The Sport in particular is said to be engineered to be tough, reliable, and easily serviced, sporting (pun not intended) a sleek steel frame that is manufactured to handle the added weight and stress put on it by the electrical propulsion system, while making use of industry standard bicycle components.

Components that are subject to normal wear include the tires and brake pads, and these will be readily available and easy to replace so you need not worry about running out spare parts or anything of the sort. As for its propulsion system, it will make use of the latest battery technology so that you can experience the power and range required to get you where you need to go without busting a huge hole in your wallet.

Expect the Sport to be fully juice in 4 hours using a standard 110V household outlet, where a fully charged bike can offer a range between 30 to 40 miles of powered riding. So, any takers?

BMW's C Evolution electric scooter does 62 miles on a charge, maxes out at 75 mph

All things considered, we think it’s safe to say BMW very rarely disappoints with its latest road-friendly creations, and one of the outfit’s most recent concoctions is this eco-friendly C Evolution electric scooter. According to the German company, the prototype two-wheeler’s quite close to hitting its final production stages, noting “it might soon become a part of everyday road traffic in cities throughout the world” and that it is “outstanding in terms of performance, functionality and design.” On paper, the C Evolution appears to be rather promising, with BMW also claiming the environmental hog can ride out about 62 miles on a single charge — all while being able to reach max speeds of around 75 mph. No word yet on how much you’ll have to save up for one of these, but for now, there’s a video of the C Evo in action waiting on you just past the break.

Marrs M-1 intends to be the top end bicycle

When it comes to pedal power, you really do not have that much choice in terms of how fast you are going to go. After all, a whole lot of it depends on you making the effort to cycle as hard and as fast as you can to max up your speed. Of course, unless you are talking about a bicycle with an electric engine that will help you move as fast as possible without assistance from your legs. Enter the Marrs M-1 bicycle that intends to be the Harley Davidson of bicycles.

Anaheim-based Marrs Cycles is proud to announce that their Marrs M-1 most probably has far more in common with a customized Harley Davidson, compared to other stuff that are put out by Specialized or Trek. Company founder Kacy Marrs, he who has a background in riding a range of both bicycles and motorcycles, as well as his business partner, Brad Fanshaw, who did run a company which constructed truly one-of-a-kind hot rods, do have something interesting for the future with the Marrs M-1 bicycle.

Similar to Fanshaw’s cars, the Marrs M-1s are constructed in a built to order format. What I am saying is, the specifications will all be different, depending on what the user wants. After all, money is your limit. When you translate it to plain English, it would mean the specifications is able to differ from bicycle to bicycle, depending on what your wants are. Rechargeable lithium battery packs will be at the heart of the Marrs M-1, which is used to juice up a three-phase brushless rear hub motor. Just what kind of performance can this puppy pack? Well, the smallest pack of them all is capable of churning out 20 amp hours, which on paper, it enables a 175-pound (79kg) rider to travel up to 20 miles (32 km) on a single charge – without the need to pedal.

The Marrs M-1 bike has a top motorized speed of 20 mph (32 km/h). After all, anything that is speedier, it would not be able to legally be classed as an electric bicycle for the US market. Marrs mentioned that his company has already come up with personal test bikes which will be able to exceed that speed. After all, Marrs said that he did bring the Marrs M-1 for a test drive at approximately 30 mph (48 km/h). You might need to fork out a minimum of $7,000 if you are thinking of getting one of these puppies for yourself.
