Cool Circuits Puzzle makes learning fun

cool-circuitsThey say that one of the best ways to learn would be through play, as we see that in nature. Have you seen puppies and kittens develop their hunting skills through the sheer playfulness of their nature? I guess that pretty much confirms such a suggestion, and with the $24.99 Cool Circuits Puzzle, you know that you would be sending your little one down the right path where this particular purchase would be able to teach kids concerning the properties of electrical circuits. Not only that, this is not something just meant for kids, but it will also be able to help challenge adults at the same time if they decide to throw their lot into it.

With the Cool Circuits Puzzle, you will pick up a puzzle card before you attempt to complete that circuit which is shown off on the board, where you will have at your disposal 8 fluorescent circuit pieces. It might sound as easy as A-B-C, but I suppose until you give it a go, it is not going to be anywhere as easy as that – at least, unless you have majored in Electrical and Electronic Engineering. The Cool Circuits Puzzle comes in handy to teach ordinary folks and kids about the properties of electrical circuits, and it will flash in blue while playing music when solved as a form of positive reinforcement. The entire shebang runs on a trio of AAA batteries just in case you were wondering.

Samsung rolls out world’s first 8Gb LPDDR4 Mobile DRAM

samsung-8gb-ramSamsung has already chalked up plenty of feathers in its proverbial hat, and this time around, they have yet another one to add to their burgeoning collection. The company is already a world leader when it comes to consumer electronics, and this time around, they have announced the first 8Gb LPDDR4 (low power double data rate) mobile DRAM in the world which will (fingers crossed) usher in the next-generation of ultra-fast mobile memory in order to meet ever growing market demand. Just how will this particular advancement change the way we use mobile electronics for the better? Read on after the jump to find out.

The all new high-speed 8Gb LPDDR4 mobile DRAM is touted to deliver the highest level of density, performance and energy efficiency for mobile memory applications, so that end users will be able to enjoy faster, more responsive applications, additional advanced features, and higher resolution displays, all without draining one’s battery life in a short amount of time.

The 8Gb LPDDR4 will be fabricated on 20-nanometer (nm) class process technology, where one is able to obtain up to 1 gigabyte (GB) of storage space on a single die, making it the largest density available for DRAM components in the market at the moment. A quartet of the 8Gb chips will see a single 4GB LPDDR4 package such as this offer the highest level of performance that can be found.

Not only that, Samsung’s latest 8Gb LPDDR4 will also utilize a Low Voltage Swing Terminated Logic (LVSTL) I/O interface that was originally meant to be the standard specification for LPDDR4 DRAM as proposed by Samsung to JEDEC. We are looking at a data transfer rate per pin of 3,200 megabits per second (Mbps), which is double the amount of the 20nm-class LPDDR3 DRAM that is currently being mass produced. In a nutshell, the new LPDDR4 interface offers up to 50% additional performance compared to the fastest LPDDR3 or DDR3 memory, all the while consuming around 40% less energy at 1.1 volts. When will the first generation of smartphones feature such memory? Only time will tell, and we await with bated breath.

LG Pocket Photo 2.0 launched

lg-pocketphotoLG, the South Korean consumer electronics giant, has just announced that they will be showcasing their LG Pocket Photo 2.0 over at CES 2014 that is kicking off in less than a fortnight’s time. This will be the second iteration of their original Pocket Photo device, where it will offer enhanced portability thanks to its form factor, letting you customize, print and share images regardless of where you are. Just what kind of connectivity options will the latest LG Pocket Photo 2.0 come with? It features wireless connectivity such as NFC and Bluetooth, allowing you to instantly print 2” x 3” photos from majority of the tablets and smartphones that are in use today. Not only that, it will also play nice with Android and iOS devices, which should cover a fair bit of ground – although Windows Phone and BlackBerry owners would miss out on the Pocket Photo boat.

Touted to be one of the smallest mobile photo printing devices on the market, this most recent version would have shaved off 4mm from its predecessor in terms of thickness, and yet it does not affect its performance at all. On the contrary, the LG Pocket Photo 2.0 would be able to print pictures rendered at a crystal clear 313dpi, which makes them perfect for sharing or displaying. You will first need to download and install the free Pocket Photo editing app though, so that you will be able to print right off the bat after connecting your smartphone or tablet to it sans wires.

LG has also gone the extra mile to introduce enhancements to the editing features in the accompanying Pocket Photo app, paving the way for you to experiment with an expanded range of customization options. There is a new set of filter effects thrown into the mix as well, in addition to a clever frame augmentation feature. Not only that, you can also opt to embed QR codes in photos, making it a convenient method to connect a physical photograph with an online community or an Internet-based content. ZINK’s inkless paper system will deal with the photo printing process, and a single full charge of the LG Pocket Photo 2.0 delivers up to 30 photo prints.
