Impossible Spectra First Edition Camera offers fully automated operation

polaroid-spectraWith most kids these days in possession of a smartphone (they tend to see featurephones as relics from the past), it is no wonder that they have not heard of this thing called the Polaroid camera before. Instant photographs, and having to wait in order to develop photos in a place called the “dark room” from a thing called “film”? That might be a bit too much for them to take in, as they are so used with wirelessly transmitting photos from their smartphones to the cloud, and storing all of them in a digital format. Well, the $149.99 Impossible Spectra First Edition Camera brings a bout of nostalgia as it comes in the form of a refurbished Polaroid Spectra Camera.

It will boast of a focus-free lens and fully-automated operation, and even better news is, it will feature a newly manufactured film that will play nice with the Impossible Spectra First Edition Camera. The Impossible Project purchased the last Polaroid production plant in the world, producing new film products for the thousands of operational Polaroid cameras that are still out there, somewhere. With the Impossible Spectra First Edition Camera, you would end up with a randomly selected Spectra System, Spectra SE, Spectra AF, Spectra QPS, Spectra 1st Edition or a 1200 Si Polaroid camera.

Samsung jumps aboard the curved Ultra HD TV bandwagon

samsung-curved-hdtvSamsung might be from the same country as that of LG, hailing from South Korea, but this does not mean that they are bosom buddies when it comes to sharing customers in the consumer electronics arena. Samsung has laid claim that they have on offer a world’s first, which is also the largest and most curved 105-inch Curved UHD TV ever, and this bad boy will be unveiled over at CES next year. Next year is not too far away actually, especially when you consider that CES 2014 is happening in January next year.

Your eyes will definitely be blown away by what the Samsung 105-inch Curved UHD TV is able to deliver, as it will make use of a new proprietary picture quality algorithm which is capable of offering optimized color and greater feeling of depth. In a nutshell, you will be treated to nearly two times vivid images when viewed from the side, and it comes with 11 million pixels (that’s 5120 X 2160 for you) screen resolution alongside a 21:9 aspect ratio.

Samsung’s 105” Curved UHD TV is touted to be the world’s most curved, it comes with nearly two times vivid images when viewed from the side, offering you the best possible TV viewing experience from any angle. Apart from that, the 105 inch monster will also make use of its ‘Quadmatic Picture Engine’ that will be able to offer up UHD-level picture quality regardless of what kind of source it hails from.

Pricing details and other hardware specifications remain to be seen, but if the past few editions of CES is anything to go by, this could very well lead to the first generation of many curved Ultra HD TVs down the road. Unless Japanese companies like Mitsubishi and Panasonic have nothing like this up their sleeves in January, we do expect to see them jump aboard the bandwagon in CES 2015.

Smartphone Light And Appliance Controller makes life easier at home

smartphone-light-applianceJust what do you use your smartphone for exactly? Other than functioning as your primary communications device, checking up on your social network status as well as purchasing movie tickets on the go, some of us also use it as the regular alarm clock to wake us up at the break of dawn in order to meet a brand new day. Well, perhaps life for your smartphone could be a whole lot more than that – as with the $199.95 Smartphone Light and Appliance Controller. This particular system would allow you to be able to remotely control both lights as well as appliances even when you are not physically present at home, through the use of smartphone that is hooked up to the Internet.

This particular system will include a plug-in dimmer for a lamp, a wall dimmer for a ceiling fixture, a plug-in on/off switch for a single appliance such as a TV or stereo, and a base station that communicates with each through a home’s existing wireless network. “Smartphone” here, of course, refers to both Android as well as iOS platforms, so Windows Phone 8 and BlackBerry OS owners will have to sit this one out. After downloading the app to your device, you will be able to gain access to the base station so that you can adjust each device’s brightness and timer settings, making it the ideal way to fool the outside world into thinking that there is someone at home even where there isn’t anyone.

inflatable-r2d2R2-D2, the most famous astromech droid in the world of Star Wars, has more or less saved the Rebel Alliance one time too many, and is a beloved character for many. This hunk of metal is far more intelligent than the verbose C3-PO, and we are quite sure that it is made out of extremely dense metal. Well, with the $79.95 RC Inflatable R2-D2, you can be quite sure that it will live up to its reputation by coming in a lightweight and inflatable body, all without sacrificing on its maneuverability as a genuine astromech droid.

In order to inflate this variant of R2-D2, we are sad to say that it is not smart enough to do so itself, but rather, you will have to manually perform the inflation process using the included foot pump. When fully inflated, the R2-D2 would stand at an impressive 26″ in height, sporting drive units underneath which will allow him to perform zippy 360-degree spins, full forward, back, and turning. Thanks to its inflatable body, it will come with an extremely low center of gravity, letting him remain upright even when descending down the stairs. LG intends to wow the CES 2014 crowd with first 105” Curved Ultra HD TV in the world

lg-105ub9The Consumer Electronics Show (CES) in Las Vegas has always been the place for companies to roll out and showcase their latest technologies, hoping to wow the masses along the way. Having said that, we have seen some pretty impressive releases in the past, and the TV segment always does seem to have something new for everyone. For next year’s edition of CES, the folks over at LG has lined up another world’s first, which is their LG 105UB9, where in plain English, it would be better known as the first 105” Curved Ultra HD TV in the world.

Sure, there has been larger sized TVs revealed in the past such as those from Mitsubishi and Panasonic that ran on different technologies such as plasma, but those did not have any curves that the LG 105UB9 comes with. At such a large size, you will be able to enjoy magnificent picture quality as well as a wide viewing angle, where the Ultra HD TV itself will be able to render even the most minute detail in breathtaking clarity so that you, the viewer, will be able to enjoy an unprecedented level of viewer immersion.

Apart from that, the LG 105UB9’s cinematically proportioned 21:9 CinemaScope screen makes it perfect for enjoying movies the way they were meant to be shown on the silver screen. Not only that, it will also let you check out viewing information on the side of the screen without having to suffer the ignominy of that blocking any of the ongoing action. The LG 105UB9 will boast of 11 million pixel (5120 x 2160) screen resolution, which are far more pixels than you can shake a stick at compared to a regular Full HD TV. As for pricing details, that remains to be seen, but one thing is for sure – it is not going to come cheap considering the kind of technology that it comes with.

Five Sense Aroma Diffuser will help you find your inner peace

Five Sense Aroma Diffuser
We all have our own song and dance for how we relax. Some just want to unwind in front of the television or sit down to some video games, and others look to incense, yoga, and meditation. For those of you that prefer to find inner peace through internal reflection, you know how helpful having a serene environment can be.

Eliminating exterior noise, not being under harsh light, and breathing in a pleasant aroma all help you to find a state of calm. The Five Sense Aroma Diffuser will assist you with your meditative state. This is a hand-blown glass diffuser cupped in a bowl of maple wood. Inspired from an ancient Chinese instrument, this can also play music. However, if you’re not fond of listening to traditional Chinese music, you can always hook up your MP3 player to listen to your own tunes.

There are LED lights in the base that will assist with your desired ambiance, and choosing an essential oil to put into the diffuser will complete the circle.  As this is a hand-crafted item, the $369 price tag should not be too overwhelming of an idea. However, there are some accessories that would be worth looking in to. It’s a very simple, yet elegant design that takes from and balances it with function. For easy control, there is a remote that mimics the look of the diffuser from which you can start and stop your music and change up the lights.
