Everyone seems to have that one drawer in the house that seems to be a catch-all. It never starts out that way, though. When you moved in, you used it to store a couple of things in the kitchen that didn’t quite fit in with the rest. Now, whenever you need a marker, a pair of scissors, a small screwdriver, or a spare battery, that’s the first place you check, because it might be in there. The trouble is, sometimes there’s so much stuff in the drawer that you can’t see into the recesses. What you need is something that’s going to light up the drawer whenever you open it. And I’m not talking about a flashlight, because the one in the drawer needs new batteries.

This DIODER LED battery-operated lamp f/drawer (I’m guessing that means “for drawer”, but they didn’t feel like spelling it out.) might be exactly what you need. This light strip is 11-inches long, and has 6 LED’s to illuminate your drawer. Sure, there are plenty of other lights that you could stick in the drawer, but this one doesn’t need to be manually turned on and off. Instead, it can detect when the drawer is opened, and will automatically kick on. Once you’ve pushed it back in, the light will go off a few seconds later.

This light strip is pretty inexpensive, at just $15. It does, however, need a pair of AAA batteries to stay lit. But since it only stays on when you need it to, they should last quite a while before needing replaced.

Just like how we have covered our fair share of portable wireless speakers over here on Coolest Gadgets in the past, another particular area where this particular niche gizmo is dime a dozen would be the phone charger. All phones come packed with their respective charger, although over the years, you would have realized that a single charger is good enough to play nice with a myriad of other phones, as long as they share the same connectors. Well, this begs the question, are all phone chargers created equal? The correct answer would be “No”, as evident by the flaming hope that this Kickstarter project, the Wrist Charge phone charger, claims.

What makes the Wrist Charge phone charger so different from the rest is its highly portable nature. Whenever you want to travel outdoors with your phone charger, you would not need a bag or backpack to toss it in, just slap the Wrist Charge phone charger around your, well, wrist, and you’re good to go. Not only does it ensure that your smartphone gets the necessary amount of juice whenever required, it will also double up as a fashion accessory when not in use.

The Wrist Charge phone charger will hook up any mobile device to a USB port to keep the battery going, and it will work with a myriad of iPhone models in addition to all Android-powered smartphones. There are plenty of times when you’re out and about, and you want to listen to some music. Thankfully, in this day and age, almost everyone has a music player in their pocket. Now, you can just hit play on your phone and start rocking out on the built-in speakers, but if you’re in a public space, that’s not exactly polite. If you happen to have a pair of earbuds on you, then you can plug those in and enjoy your favorite tunes. But what if you left them at home? When you’re done listening, just hit the button again, and they retract back into the case. The biggest downside to this case is that it does add a bit to your phone. You’ll get an extra 6mm of thickness, and about 25mm to the height. You can get one in your choice of black, blue, green, pink, or white for $50 during the Kickstarter funding period. If you want an in-line mic for taking calls, you’ll need to add an extra $10.
