Samsung Exynos Octa now rocking LTE, destined for Korean market

Samsung Exynos Octa now rocking LTE, destined to Korean market

When Samsung’s Exynos 5 Octa was announced, it was believed to be compatible with 3G networks only. As such, the HSPA+ (global) version of the Galaxy S 4 was the only handset to feature the company’s eight-core SoC — the LTE model shipping with Qualcomm’s 4G-capable, quad-core Snapdragon 600 instead. That’s apparently changed, with the Korean giant tweeting that the Exynos 5 Octa now supports LTE on 20 bands. So why even make a Snapdragon 600 version of the Galaxy S 4, then? Perhaps Samsung can’t produce as many chips as Qualcomm to meet the upcoming worldwide demand for its new flagship. This appears likely, with inews24 and new-samsunggalaxys4 reporting that the Exynos 5 Octa with LTE is currently reserved for Korean models only (SHV-E300S, SHV-E300K and SHV-E300L, to be exact). So, anyone fancy a trip to Seoul in the near future?

Samsung Galaxy Note 3 To Be Exynos 5 Octa Powered With 6.3-Inch Display [Rumor]

Samsung Galaxy Note 3 To Be Exynos 5 Octa Powered With 6.3 Inch Display [Rumor]

Samsung’s Galaxy Note 2 is almost six months old and today we’re hearing of some new rumors concerning the next Galaxy Note, the Galaxy Note 3.

The rumors come by way of The Korea Times as they believe the Samsung Galaxy Note 3 will be released later this year with a 6.3-inch display, which is nearly one inch larger than the Galaxy Note 2′s 5.5″ display. Not only that, but its sweet, sweet innards will also be receiving a huge bump in processing power as they also believe the Galaxy Note 3 will be one of the first devices to receive Samsung’s Exynos 5 Octa processor.

If today’s rumors turn out to be true then we can expect the Samsung Galaxy Note 3 to be quite the beast of a Phablet as the inclusion of the Exynos 5 Octa processor will make it ridiculously more powerful than the Galaxy Note 2. Also, if you’re going to buy one of the 60 million Phablets expect to ship this year, why not get one with as big of a screen as possible, which is what the Galaxy Note 3′s rumored 6.3-inch display will be.

Samsung Announces 8-Core Exynos 5 Octa Mobile CPU

Samsung Announces 8 Core Exynos 5 Octa Mobile CPU

[CES 2013] It seems NVIDIA and Qualcomm aren’t the only companies that are debuting their new mobile chips as Samsung has just unveiled its new 8-core Exynos 5 Octa today at CES.

Samsung’s Exynos 5 Octa is comprised of two sets of four cores: ARM Cortex-A15 and and Cortex-A7, and is said to lower power consumption by up to 70 percent compared to the Exynos 5 Dual. The Exynos 5 Octa is expected to be made available in high-end smartphones as it is expected to make multitasking on mobile devices a smoother experience as there should be no stuttering when playing HD videos.

The Exynos 5 Octa also has twice the 3D performance of any of Samsung’s previous mobile processors and is the first mobile processor to implement ARM’s big.LITTLE technology.

So what does all of this mean to you, the average and above-average mobile-device user? Simple – expect your mobile devices to get some serious speed and 3D graphic improvements if it’s built with the Exynos 5 Octa. Or NVIDIA’s Tegra 4. Or Qualcomm’s Snapdragon 800. Either way, the mobile industry is going to get a lot more interesting in the coming year as more devices are built with these new CPUs.
