Samsung Galaxy F Series Is In The Works: Eldar Murtazin

Samsung Galaxy F Series Is In The Works: Eldar MurtazinFor those of you who follow the world of mobile news, you would most probably have heard of the name of Eldar Murtazin before. Eldar Murtazin happens to have a pretty wide network of contacts whom, from time to time, do furnish him with all sorts of delicious titbits and news concerning upcoming devices, especially in the world of smartphones and tablets. In fact, one of his most recent forays touched on the upcoming Samsung Galaxy S5 which is touted to arrive sometime in the first quarter of next year, which frankly, is not to far away – 5 months, tops.

Eldar Murtazin claims that the Samsung Galaxy S5 will skip the Q1 2014 release, but rather, it has been scheduled for launch in late April 2014, as we brought you word about that. Apart from that, there is also a glimmer of hope for the allegedly ultra high-end Samsung Galaxy F Series. When asked to talk about this unique F Series, Mr. Murtazin did offer his very own confirmation that such a device happens to be in the pipeline, but considering how Samsung did not begin to show it off to mobile carriers, it might not arrive so soon next year. Well, better late than never, don’t you think so?

Alleged press shots out LG Optimus F5 as Verizon’s mid-range Lucid 2

    DNP

About a week ago, we went hands-on with LG’s new mid-range LTE-capable Optimus F5 and F7 smartphones at MWC. At the time it was unknown where these handsets would land in the US, but it appears that we now have the goods on the former. According to a pair of alleged press shots obtained by UnwiredView, LG’s F5 will be showing up on Verizon in the not so distant future. Said to be a follow up to last year’s Lucid, this mid-tier device’s main bullet points include a modest 4.3-inch qHD display, a 1.2GHz dual-core Snapdragon processor, a 5-megapixel rear-facing camera (capable of 1080p video capture) and Android 4.1.2. Sure, the Lucid 2’s specs remind us more of a keyboard shortcut and less of a powerful storm — we just hope that its price tag will also be a refresh. If so, that should make this device a considerable option for first-time smartphone buyers looking to make the jump to LTE.

Sony unveils 2012 Walkman range: Android 4.0 F series and refreshed entry-level E series (eyes-on)

Sony unveils refreshed Walkman range Android 40 F series and entrylevel E series eyeson

The Walkman F800 is Sony’s latest PMP; a 3.5-inch Android media player that replaces the company’s middling Z series. Perhaps the most intriguing point is that the new media player will arrive with Android 4.0 from the start, alongside the usual raft of WiFi and Bluetooth connectivity options. Storage choices range from 8GB, through to 16GB and 32GB, with 4.5 hours of video playback apparently possible on the handhelds. It’s the new flagship media player for Sony, and will launch in Europe priced at around £210 ($279).

The noise-cancelling E series (and an even-more-bare-bones version) has also been refreshed. The hardware hasn’t changed that much, aside from a larger 2-inch LCD screen, but there’s a whole raft of new patterns and colors. The petit slabs will arrive alongside a new dock that will run off the PMP’s own battery, augmenting the existing built-in speaker. If you liked the E series, but need something a little more wireless, then the just-announced Bluetooth-toting Walkman S770BT may hit the spot. Aside from that addition, the device otherwise lists the same specifications as the E series. Sony tells us that all three Walkman families will be available in Europe starting today — and we managed to handle both the new noise-cancelling E474 (£80, or around $80) and the F800 last week. Unfortunately, we were only able feel around the device, as unfortunately neither were powered up. The F series feels a lot like a solidly-built smart phone, with a matte black finish — the device arrives in just the single color option. Meanwhile, the E series attacks the rainbow, with a range of patterns. These feel predictably lighter, and should slip into pockets very easily. Take a closer look at the PMP pair in the galleries below.
