Well, hmph. That’s not how drones work guys. Supposedly, this video shows Portugal attempting to launch a naval drone by giving it a running start. As the drone is thrown in the air to fly, it immediately nosedives and crashes into the ocean. What a wonderful failure.

I’m sorry. People who serve in the army make incredible sacrifices for their countries and I am incredibly thankful for them. They do amazing things. They make our lives a lot better. But I can’t help but laugh at this wonderful compilation of fails in the military. They look like failed skits on sketch comedy shows. Made by Hashtango, it’s a freaking riot to get through.
Creating a humanoid robot that can walk over all kinds of junk, like a parent traversing a child’s LEGO explosion of a room, is no easy task. The idea is the same for both the parent and the robot. No matter what you step on, stay upright.
So check out this video of The Florida Institute for Human and Machine Cognition’s Atlas humanoid robot trying to navigate a bunch of wood and rope, because researchers didn’t clean their room. Naturally, the robot struggles to stay upright. Damn kids! But don’t worry, it was wearing a safety harness, which kept it from breaking a hip.
The video is fascinating and kinda funny as the robot takes its nervous steps and eventually loses it. At least robots don’t feel pain. Yet.

Man, someone needs to teach China how to use Photoshop.

This video seems out of a Chuck Jones cartoon of the Roadrunner and the Coyote, but it’s real. It happened in Konakova, Russia. A BASE jumper jumped off the top of an electric post, 393 feet (120 meters) over the snow surface below. Unfortunately, his parachute failed. More »
