Fallout Conversation Starter T-Shirt: Pre-Acquaintance Ready-to-Wear Gear

The Fallout franchise has many unique features – the bottle cap currency, the above average writing, the glitches – but deviantART member Scott aka OrangeRakoon chose to make a funny meta-nod to what I consider to be the Fallout trademark: the green-on-green conversation window.

You can buy the Conversation Starter t-shirt from Scott’s RedBubble shop for about $25 (USD). May it bring you more party members.

Possible Fallout Television Series In The Works?

Fallout 3 logo610 Possible Fallout Television Series In The Works?Video games rarely translate well into movies, let alone a television series, but if you’re a fan of the Fallout franchise we guess you might be interested to learn that according to a trademark filing by Bethesda, it seems that the company might be interested in launching a television series based on the game. According to the trademark filing, it has been described as “Entertainment services in the nature of an on-going television program set in a post-nuclear apocalyptic world.” Of course this does not mean that it’s a guarantee that there will be a Fallout television show – it could simply be that the trademark was filed for the protection of their intellectual property, but hey, not a bad idea, right? What do you guys think? Would you be receptive to a Fallout television show and which actors/actresses would you like to see participate in it?

Pip-Boy 3000 Made from Picture Frame 2012

Last year we saw a prototype for an unwearable Pip-Boy 3000, which involved using a smartphone to create a replica that was functional, or at least interactive. This hack is not as high tech, because it only uses a digital picture frame, but at least it’s wearable.

The replica was made by amateur prop maker and sculpture student Zachariah Perry as a gift for his brother. Awwww. As with the replica we saw last year, Zachariah also used the Pip-Boy alarm clock that was included in the Survival Edition of Fallout 3. Then he inserted the innards of a digital picture frame and covered it with the domed glass from a slide viewer, giving it a great retro look. He made three buttons to switch between the images being displayed on the frame, which are screenshots from the Pip-Boy 3000 of his brother’s Fallout save game. Double awwww. The knob at the lower left toggles the lights at the bottom of the display. Finally the separate, gizmo you see on the glove is an MP3 player, which he couldn’t fit inside the case of the alarm clock.

Now Zachariah’s brother is ready to leave their vault. Check out Zachariah’s blog for more pictures of the replica.

Fallout 3 Terrible Shotgun Gets Real

If you aren’t familiar with the Terrible Shotgun, it has the second highest damage of all the weapons in the Small Guns category in Fallout 3. It also has a larger spread than normal shotguns. It is most effective in close-quarters. In fact, it is terribly deadly up close.

It’s an awesome weapon and so it’s no wonder that Harrison Krix at Volpin Props was commissioned to make this amazing replica for the web series Nuka Break. The barrel and heat shield are made of aluminum. The trigger mechanism too as well as the sight and forward pump piston.

Two drum magazines lock into place with magnetic catches. The cocking lever on the right side is spring loaded, like the trigger. Fully assembled, the whole thing weighs over 8 lbs. The detail is pretty amazing as we’ve come to expect from Volpin.

Sadly, this replica weapon does not actually fire real rounds, but you can’t have everything.

Homemade ED-E Replica Falls out of the Blogosphere

If you have played Fallout: New Vegas, then you know ED-E. You might even have a special place in your video gaming heart for him.
e de
Well, Geekologie reader Will Brown made this amazing looking replica of ED-E from the postapocalyptic classic. He went the extra mile and photographed the steps so that other crafters might even be able to make their own as well. What a nice guy. He wouldn’t just shoot you randomly in the wasteland.

With a little bit of skill and some hard work, you too can make your own ED-E, although this one won’t follow you around New Vegas under it’s own power.
