Wraparound sunglasses provide as much protection from glare as you can get without having to resort to a full-on helmet and visor. But those curved lenses also makes them bulky and hard to stash away when not worn. So a company called Visoptical has developed a solution: sunglasses with a clever sliding rail system that fold away to a tiny package. More »
Not Even The Lady In the Lake Would Wear This Knights of the Round Table Watch
Posted in: Today's Chili As the legend goes, King Arthur held court with his gallant knights around a giant round table that most certainly served as a breathtaking centerpiece to Camelot. But pretty much all of that mystique and majesty has been lost with Roger Dubuis’ latest timepiece that features a miniature version of that famous table, complete with tiny knights all cast in gold. Smells…Not So Delicious
Posted in: Today's Chili We’ve evolved past the point of shouldering giant boomboxes for something a bit more portable. Now the party can follow you in a more stylish way—Rebecca Minkoff and Stellé Audio’s fly new clutches aren’t really clutches at all. Rather, they’re Bluetooth speakers. More »
The ready availability and widespread usage of surveillance technology is enough to drive most level-headed people paranoid. Drones, hidden and visible security cameras, sensors, communications tracing systems… they’re all around us and at any given moment, they could be used to track your whereabouts and monitor your every move.
People have been protesting these technologies for use, with news that various government organizations employ them on a regular basis. No one has been more vocal about them than designer Adam Harvey, who made his stand clear through his newest fashion collection called ‘Stealth Wear.’
The pieces in his collection stay true to his message, with one them being dubbed as the ‘anti-drone hoodie’, which is crafted from a metalized material that makes it impossible for drones to detect your thermal image with their sensors. Then there’s the ‘XX-shirt’, which I presume protects against X-rays since it’s supposed to “protect your heart from X-ray radiation.”
Harvey explains: “Military technology is coming home from the war. These pieces are designed to live with it, to cope with it–to live in a world where surveillance is happening all the time.”
I think it’s an awesome thing that he’s doing with ‘Stealth Wear.’ What do you think?
You’ve been thinking it for ages: What you really want your jeans to do is make your butt feel like it’s just been lathered with lotion. Pine for these skin softening slacks no longer, because Wrangler has invented moisturizing jeans. More »

This robotic spider dress made by Dutch designer Anouk Wipprecht and Austrian software developer Daniel Schatzmayr is creeping me out but also turning me on at the same exact time. I don’t know what to think—if those crawling spindly robot legs are scary or if they’re just sexy. More »
New Balance is celebrating its 25th anniversary this year and what better way to mark the occasion than by releasing some very special shoes: ML574 “Year of the Snake” Sneakers. The limited edition serpentine shoes pay homage to both the company itself and to 2013, the Year of the Snake according to the Chinese horoscope.
I’ve seen a lot of weird shoes in the past few years. Remember the Scary/Beautiful shoes that looked more scary than beautiful, and the pimp shoes with fish tanks in them? But I think none are quite as strange or interesting as Julian Hakes’ Mojito heels.
Hakes’ design went viral back in 2009 when he posted a concept that garnered widespread attention. His design explored the idea of how a shoe would look like if it were thought of as a bridge was certainly strange, but as you very well know, strange is ‘in’ and considered all sorts of awesome these days.
Models wrote asking for his shoes, blogs covered his design, and almost everyone was wondering the same thing: could it be turned into a reality? The answer is yes, and it has been a reality, for a couple of years now.
The design looks extremely uncomfortable, but then again, looks can be deceiving. A variety of colors are available for purchase online, with each pair costing between £125 – £175 (~$201 to $283 USD).
