Ferrari Logic3 Scuderia FS1 Air Bluetooth Speaker: Doesn’t Go Fast, But Does Get Loud

Until you’ve tried a Bluetooth speaker, you can’t really understand how useful they can be. Sure, the sound quality isn’t always spectacular, but it always blows speaker built into smartphones and tablets away, and the wireless convenience can’t be denied. Logic3 has just announced a Ferrari-branded Bluetooth speaker dock, which doesn’t really mean a whole lot, since it’s not like you’re going to be driving this thing.

The Ferrari Logic3 Scuderia FS1 Air speaker dock was inspired by the Scuderia Ferrari racing team as well as the GT car’s lines, creases and curves. It’s powered by “Class HD” technology and has an integrated digital signal processor, controlling the crossover and equalization so that it coaxes the best out of your encoded music.

The integrated 30-pin connector will allow you to dock most iDevices and juice them up while they play their tunes. While it’s not as expensive as an actual Ferrari, the $600+(USD) price tag will burn a hole in your pocket, and if I’m going to spend that kind of money on a dock, I prefer the style of the B&W Zeppelin Air, which can be had for just a few dollars more. But if you’re a die-hard Ferrari fan, you can get your hands on the Scuderia FS1 Speaker Dock at a variety of retailers around the world.

Logic3's Ferraribranded headphones and speakers make their stateside debut, no license needed to rock

Ferrari isn’t a stranger to licensing its brand for use on gadgets. As of this week, the automaker’s added some new offerings in the US on the audio-front with the help of Logic3. Way back at CES we got our eyes on the duo’s full lineup of co-branded headphones and speakers, and now folks in the US can officially get their hands on two such offerings (Tim Stevens-approved racing gloves not required). Its $400 Cavallino T350 headphones come in black or tan, featuring 40mm drivers, active noise cancellation, an in-line remote / mic for your smartphone and a tangle-proof cord. As you’d expect, they’re crafted from premium metal and leather for an extra luxurious feel on the ears. Those looking to fill a room with sound should take note of the $500 Scuderia FS1. It’s a 2.1 speaker system complete with Bluetooth and the ever-aging 30-pin connector for older iOS devices. Sure, it’s been a slow start to market, but here’s to hoping the performance matches the prices — hey, it still beats an actual payment on one of Ferrari’s actual whips. Full press released after the break.

Ferrari by Logic3 launches new headphones, Bluetooth speaker dock

If you’re the type of person who needs every aspect of life to be stylish (and/or expensive), then Ferrari by Logic3 has a pair of new products aimed directly at you. Today Logic3 announced that its launching its Cavallino T350 headphones and Scuderia FS1 Bluetooth speaker dock worldwide. Both look pretty sleek, but with that unmistakable Ferrari branding, both will also cost a pretty penny.

Let’s start right off with the Cavallino T350 headphones. These headphones come equipped with 40mm drivers and Active Noise Cancelling technology, so they should do something to keep ambient noise at a minimum. The band and ear cups are decked out in leather, and the Cavallino T350 features an in-line remote to help with ease-of-use with mobile devices and MP3 players. The headphones will require a payment of $399, so be prepared to plop down some serious cash if you want a set for yourself.

Next we come to the Scuderia FS1 Bluetooth speaker dock. The 2.1 speaker system features Class HD technology that’s been integrated with a Digital Signal Processor, which Logic3 says results in excellent sound quality despite the dock’s small size. It also comes equipped with Bluetooth for wireless playback (obviously), along with a 30-pin connector so you can connect your iDevices. That kind of functionality will cost you though, as the Scuderia FS1 has been stuck with a price tag of $549.

So both are pretty expensive, but if you want to pick one up, the Cavallino T350 and the Scuderia FS1 are available now at Ferrari’s website. If you’re more the brick and mortar type, Logic3 says they’ll be available at “select retailers nationwide,” but failed to actually mention any stores that carry these products. What do you think, are these Ferrari branded peripherals for you, or are they a little too expensive for your tastes?

Ferrari F12berlinetta auction raises $1.5 million

Last week, I mentioned that Ferrari was going to be auctioning off the first F12berlinetta in the United States at the inaugural US Grand Prix held in Austin, Texas. The vehicle is being auctioned off with all proceeds going to the American Red Cross to help with Hurricane Sandy relief. The auction for the car brought well over $1 million.

Ferrari auctioned off the vehicle for $1.125 million. The auction also raised an additional $50,000 from online and in person donations at auction. Proceeds raised totaled over $1.5 million with all the money going to the American Red Cross.

Ferrari fans other than the winner of the auction will have to wait until next year to get their hands on the F12berlinetta. The car carries an MSRP of a bit over $315,000. I guess the upside to being rich enough to pay over million dollars for car that starts at $315,000 is writing the money off on your taxes as a donation to charity.

The car itself is an impressive piece of machinery with a V12 engine under the hood that produces a 730 hp and 730 pound-foot of torque. Ferrari says 80% of that torque is available at 2500 RPMs . That powerful motor is attached to a dual clutch paddle shifted transmission.

Ferrari to auction the first F12berlinetta in the US to support hurricane Sandy relief

Back in August, Ferrari unveiled its new top-of-the-line sports car at the annual Pebble Beach Concours d’Elegance called the F12berlinetta. The car is set to officially debuted in the United States in the first quarter of 2013 at a price starting at $315,888. The car uses a V12 engine under the hood that is naturally aspirated.

The engine produces 730 hp and 730 pound-foot of torque with 80% of that torque available at 2500 RPM. The engine revs to 8700 RPMs and uses a dual clutch paddle shifted transmission. Ferrari claims the vehicle can go from 0 to 100 kph in 3.1 seconds.

Ferrari announced that is going to be offering well-heeled buyers out there a chance to on the first F12berlinetta in the United States. During the Formula One United States Grand Prix in Austin, Texas next weekend. Interested bidders will have the opportunity to attend an auction where they’ll have the chance to purchase the very first version of the car in the United States.

The car is being auctioned off to support Hurricane Sandy relief with all proceeds from the auction being donated to the American Red Cross. The last car Ferrari auctioned off for charity raised nearly $1.8 million. Ferrari North America CEO and President Marco Mattiacci said,”The F12berlinetta is already in high demand, and we expect the auction to yield a significant contribution to storm relief.”

SlashGear Evening Wrap-Up: November 7, 2012

We did it folks – we made it through another election, which means that we finally get a break from those endless political ads. It won’t be long before those ads are playing all over the place again, so savor the moment while you can. We found out today that President Obama set Twitter records with that a tweet that was shared more 600,000 times, and Apple was hit with a hefty fine in a case over patents related to FaceTime. Foxconn is saying that it’s still having issues keeping up with iPhone 5 production, and Pixar has named a new building after Steve Jobs.

We had a couple of quarterly reports land this afternoon, with both Activision and Qualcomm looking great as they charge into Q4 2012. Apple executive Eddy Cue has joined Ferrari’s board of directors, while AT&T is putting up a whopping $14 billion to boost its LTE and U-Verse services. There were rumors of an iPad Mini 2 with Retina Display floating around today, and ZTE was spotted teasing a new Windows Phone 8 device with a massive 5.9-inch screen.

Gearbox has squashed a nasty exploit in Borderlands 2 with a new patch, and we learned that Kim Dotcom’s new website has been killed before it even got off the ground. AT&T has revealed off-contract pricing for the Nokia Lumia 920 and 820, and Time Warner Cable is trying to lure new customers in by giving away free Xbox 360s. We got to see Nintendo President Satoru Iwata unbox the Wii U, found out which features will be on the Wii U from launch day, and were even told that the Wii U will allow for 12 user accounts per console.

Verizon is waiving voice and text fees for those who were hit hard by Hurricane Sandy, and Microsoft has released its SkyDrive app for Windows Phone 8. A new Sandvine report gives us an idea of just how popular Netflix is in North America, and Yahoo has hired a former National Geographic photographer to head up Flickr. A*STAR has revealed a new hybrid disk drive that’s only 5mm-thick, and DC Comics are now available digitally through iOS, Kindle, and NOOK devices.

Finally tonight, Don Reisinger asks if Apple actually helps its competitors, we take a closer look at Qualcomm Halo, and Chris Davis gives us his review of the Phillips hue lightbulb. That does it for tonight’s edition of the Evening Wrap-Up, enjoy the rest of your night everyone!

Ferrari adds Apple star Eddy Cue to board

Apple exec Eddy Cue has joined Ferrari‘s board of directors, with the famous Italian car company saying the web services expert will help the marque with its internet savvy. Cue – who has owned a Ferrari for the past five years – was announced as an addition to the team today, with Ferrari’s chairman describing him as “of the the main driving forces” in pushing Apple’s product envelope.

Cue was among the roster of Apple execs gaining extra duties following the recent management shuffle, having previously been responsible for online services including iCloud, the Apple Store, and the iTunes Store. After the mix-around, Cue was also left handling Siri and Apple Maps.

“I am delighted that Eddy Cue, one of the main driving forces behind Apple’s range of revolutionary products, has now joined our board” chairman Luca di Montezemolo said in a statement today. ”His huge experience in the dynamic, innovative world of the Internet will be of great assistance to us.”

Exactly what that will entail in the context of cars remains to be seen, though the growth of telematics in the auto industry has been notable in recent years. Connected car systems can not only deliver navigation, entertainment, and other information to the driver, but shuttle car diagnostics back to the manufacturer; that’s something Ferrari already makes considerable use of in its F1 cars.

Of course, while the Italian company is perhaps best known for its bright red color schemes and throaty engines, it’s also been pushing the envelope in technology. Recently the firm hinted that it was looking into potential implementations of hybrid powerplants, likely taking advantage of the impressive torque electric motors can deliver.

“I am pleased and proud to become a member of the board. I have personally dreamed of owning a Ferrari since I was 8 years old and have been lucky to be an owner for the past 5 years. I continue to be awed by the world-class design and engineering that only Ferrari can do” Eddy Cue

Ferrari announced record revenues of €1.76bn ($2.25bn) in the first nine months of 2012, up ten percent, and delivered 5,267 cars to dealerships, a rise of 6-percent.
