Lightning Returns: Final Fantasy XIII Collector’s Edition Now Available

For those of you who have been looking forward to Lightning Returns: Final Fantasy XIII Collector’s Edition, we have good news for you. The title can now be purchased as an exclusive via the Square Enix Online Store. Obviously, as a Collector’s Edition, this particular boxed set will offer a whole lot more than what you would normally expect, where it will sport a specific artwork for the collector box. Not only that, you will be able to peruse through an 80 page Hardcover Art Book that is awesome to look at, where it comes wrapped in a dust jacket while featuring legendary character designer Tetsuya Nomura’s original drawings.

Going through this Art Book would let you check out the retrospective aspect of the Final Fantasy XIII franchise, in addition to more character sketches and renderings, Lightning’s full range of customization, the world of Nova Chrysalia as well as its architecture, not to mention having a closer look at the bestiary within the game. The presence of a couple of full gatefolds would deliver an even more introspective look into Lightning Returns, while a Silver Embossed Pocket Watch reminds you that Lightning Returns would revolve around a 13 day countdown doomsday clock, so that you are reminded that you could better spend your time in front of the game than elsewhere.

Final Fantasy VIII Launches On PC Via Steam

Final Fantasy VIII Launches On PC Via Steam

Square Enix announced today that Final Fantasy VIII has launched on PC through Steam and other “e-tailers.” This is the second title from the classic series to make its way to the PC via digital download. A number of Steam exclusive features have been added to the title, such as 45 new achievements despite the fact that when the game first came out in 1999, the original game didn’t include any achievements. Steam’s version of Final Fantasy VIII supports Steam Cloud, thus allowing gamers to transfer their save data between different PCs using the same game. No Mac or Linux support is present at launch, only Windows users will be able to get their Final Fantasy VIII fix via Steam at this point in time.

Prior to Final Fantasy XIII, this title was the fastest selling game in the entire series, it sold over 8.5 million copies around the globe. Final Fantasy VIII comes with a few enhancements as well, to make the game look much better on HD PCs. A feature that wasn’t available to Western gamers before has been added to the game now, called Chocobo World, it was added to the Japanese version after the game was first released in the U.S. Steam members can now purchase Final Fantasy VIII for $11.99.

Final Fantasy 14: Libra Eorzea Now Available For Android Devices

Final Fantasy 14: Libra Eorzea Now Available For Android Devices

Square Enix recently announced Final Fantasy XIV: A Realm Reborn reached a total of 1.5 million registered users, which might make it one of the most popular MMOs the company has ever published. As a result, we’re sure many of you playing the game might need some assistance while you’re playing Final Fantasy 14, or at least you’d like to show off your characters while you’re out and about. Final Fantasy XIV: A Realm Reborn Sees 1.5 Million Registered Users

Final Fantasy XIV: A Realm Reborn Sees 1.5 Million Registered UsersIt’s been a couple of months since Square Enix launched Final Fantasy XIV: A Realm Reborn, or relaunch, depending on how you want to look at it. Based on initial reviews of the game, everyone seems to be pretty pleased with Square Enix’s efforts which is more than can be said for the previous Final Fantasy MMO attempt. In any case for those looking for the numbers, a report from Famitsu has revealed that the game has since managed to hit about 1.5 million registered users since its launch. However it should be noted that the 1.5 million users might not necessarily be active users, and some might have registered for the game and might not actually be playing it, as well as taking into account those who registered for the game in its previous iteration.

In any case we guess 1.5 million registered users is pretty impressive for a game that’s been on the market for about two months now. As it stands other popular MMOs, such as Blizzard’s World of Warcraft, has seen a decline in subscribers and currently sits at about 7.7 million active subscribers, but those numbers could have dropped since we last reported it. Perhaps A Realm Reborn will be able to hit those numbers, or maybe even beat Blizzard’s record of 14 million when World of Warcraft was at its peak, but we guess we will have to give them sometime. What do you guys think? Will the game’s subscriber base be able to hit the millions in double digits?

Final Fantasy VI Arriving On iOS And Android This Winter

Final Fantasy VI Arriving On iOS And Android This WinterSquare Enix has been pretty busy releasing Final Fantasy titles for both iOS and Android devices, and if you’re planning on playing (or replaying) some Final Fantasy titles on your mobile device, you might be interested to learn that Final Fantasy VI will be making its way onto iOS and Android this winter. As expected of other Final Fantasy releases on mobile, Final Fantasy VI will see enhanced graphics while keeping to the overall theme of the game, which is to say that gamers can look forward to a 2D, 16-bit game like back in the day, which for some would be pretty nostalgic.

The game will be released in winter although no specific dates were mentioned. Pricing was not mentioned either but given that Square Enix’s previous Final Fantasy releases were considered pretty pricey, at least by mobile game standards, we wouldn’t be surprised if Final Fantasy VI was priced similarly as well. With Final Fantasy VII next in line, we’re sure many gamers were wondering about its possible release as well. According to Square Enix’s director, Takashi Tokita, he told the folks at Kotaku that Final Fantasy VII for mobile is a possibility, but nothing has been set in stone yet.

Final Fantasy IV: The After Years Teaser Trailer Unveiled

Just last week we reported that Square Enix announced their plans to bring Final Fantasy IV: The After Years onto mobile devices and give it a visual makeover, similar to the style of Final Fantasy IV for the Nintendo DS handheld console. What this means for gamers is that they can look forward to new graphics as well as touchscreen support, and given that Square Enix has released several Final Fantasy titles for iOS and Android over the past few years, we expect that they know what they are doing.

In any case Square Enix has since released a teaser trailer for the upcoming game which is expected to see a release next year, so if you’re a huge Final Fantasy fan, this trailer is worth checking out. Final Fantasy IV: The After Years is set after Final Fantasy IV, so for those who enjoyed the original game, hopefully this remake will be able to do it justice, or make it even better, so spare a minute or two and check out the teaser trailer in the video above for a brief idea of what to expect.

Final Fantasy IV: The After Years To Get A 3D Makeover For iOS And Android

Final Fantasy IV: The After Years To Get A 3D Makeover For iOS And AndroidIf you loved Square Enix’s Final Fantasy IV, then Final Fantasy IV: The After Years might have been a title you would have played back in the day on feature phones, or when it was ported for WiiWare. Well the good news is that if you loved the title and wanted a more modern take on it, Square Enix has revealed that they would be remaking the game and giving it a 3D makeover in the same style of Final Fantasy IV for the Nintendo DS console.

Even better news is that the game is expected to make its way onto both iOS and Android devices in Winter 2013, although specific release dates and the price of the game remain unknown, however knowing Square Enix and the way they have priced their games, it is unlikely that The After Years will be priced any different. In any case we’ll definitely keep our eyes peeled for more info, so stay tuned for additional updates! In the meantime who else is looking forward to playing Final Fantasy IV: The After Years on their smartphones with brand new graphics? I know I am!

Final Fantasy Agito Gameplay Trailer Revealed

Earlier this morning, we did bring you word on the Final Fantasy Agito F2P (Free To Play) title that was announced by the folks over at Square Enix. It certainly did not take too long at all for a short gameplay trailer of Final Fantasy Agito to make an appearance online, where this Android and iOS compatible title looks set to be a winner.

Square Enix did mention that Final Fantasy Agito will be free to play complete with support for microtransactions, which is a rather rare move for Square’s premium mobile game. Not only that, Square Enix claims that the graphics on Final Fantasy Agito will be superior to those found on the Type-0 on the PSP, but it remains just how close the game will resemble. In Final Fantasy Agito, you are called upon to construct your very own cipher-like primary character, where the story will pan out into a certain degree by the number of “votes”. As to whether these “votes” translate to in-game or via Facebook, that remains to be seen. Final Fantasy Agito itself will take place across a time period of two weeks, and within those weeks, the first 10 days are reserved for you to fly solo, while the remaining four days will let you play alongside other humans.
