Final Fantasy XIV’s Free Trial Extended Due To Server Congestion

Final Fantasy XIVs Free Trial Extended Due To Server CongestionAs is with the case of most MMORPGs and games that require an internet connection, launch day is usually quite hectic and server issues are expected. Square Enix’s recent Final Fantasy XIV: A Realm Reborn was no exception and sales of digital copies were even halted to prevent the onslaught of new gamers that would ultimately overload the servers and create a bad experience for everyone. To that extent it seems that Square Enix has understood the plight of their gamers and has since announced that they will be extending the game’s free trial due to server congestion issues.

According to a post by Square Enix on the Final Fantasy XIV’s website, “All FINAL FANTASY XIV service accounts will receive an additional seven days of free play time. Furthermore, users who have yet to enter their registration codes will receive an additional seven-day trial should they register before 11:59 p.m. (PDT) on September 9, 2013.” So for gamers who have yet to get their hands on the game or would like a little more time with the game to see if they’d like to keep playing it, now’s your chance for an extended trial period, so what are you waiting for?

Final Fantasy 14: A Realm Reborn YouTube Video No Longer Banned

Final Fantasy 14: A Realm Reborn YouTube Video No Longer BannedFinal Fantasy 14: A Realm Reborn has proven to be a game that many were looking forward to, as its digital sales were reportedly stopped due to overwhelming demand after being officially launched sometime near the end of last month. It is also interesting to note that an earlier YouTube video ban on this particular title has been lifted, which means players are now able to post gameplay videos on YouTube without running afoul of the law. Producer and Director Naoki Yoshida has already repealed the block, having announced this particular decision at PAX Prime.

It was mentioned previously that Square wanted to block monetized gameplay videos from the MMO on YouTube, and it seems that all of that is now water under the bridge, with Yoshida himself explaining, “We want players out telling the world how great our game is.” That seems like a far more sensible move, which means you can start to capture according to your heart’s content. Seriously, what is the percentage of people out there who are willing to make a living out of Final Fantasy 14: A Realm Reborn videos alone? A little bit of pocket money on the side for gamers who love your game should be a boon granted to the masses if you ask me.

Final Fantasy XIV: A Realm Reborn Digital Sales Halted Due To Overwhelming Demand

Final Fantasy XIV: A Realm Reborn Digital Sales Halted Due To Overwhelming DemandOn the 27th of August 2013, Square Enix officially released their long-awaited MMORPG, Final Fantasy XIV: A Realm Reborn, to the eager hands of gamers around the world. While we know that the Final Fantasy fanbase is huge, not to mention that A Realm Reborn is essentially a reboot of Square Enix’s failed attempts at a MMORPG from a few years ago, we did not expect the game to be so popular to the point where the company had to put a stop to digital sales while they sort out their server issues. Square Enix Does Not Want Third-Party Final Fantasy XIV Videos To Be Monetized

Square Enix Does Not Want Third Party Final Fantasy XIV Videos To Be MonetizedWith Final Fantasy XIV: A Realm Reborn having just been launched, we’re sure there are many gamers out there who are eager to upload videos of themselves playing the game, either for review or to provide guides to newbies. While those are some noble reasons for posting videos, if you were hoping to monetize those videos by cashing in on the popularity of the Final Fantasy franchise, you’d be out of luck. According to the Final Fantasy XIV’s rules and policies which come into effect on the 27th of August (the game’s launch day), it seems that while Square Enix might be cool with you sharing videos on YouTube, they don’t want you making money from it.

One of the points specifically points towards YouTube’s monetization feature and reads, “You may not monetize your video via the YouTube partner program or any similar programs on other video sharing sites.” Of course given that the content from the video will be from the game, thus it being Square Enix’s property, we guess they don’t want you to make money off their own intellectual property. We doubt this will affect a ton of gamers out there, but if you’re a gamer who was planning on making some FF14 videos, this is something to take into consideration.

Final Fantasy XIV: A Realm Reborn’s Director Apologizes For Server Issues

Final Fantasy XIV: A Realm Reborns Director Apologizes For Server IssuesIf you are looking forward to getting your hands on Final Fantasy XIV: A Realm Reborn, you might have heard that the game was pegged for an official release on the 27th of August. However it seems that during the game’s early access weekend, their servers experienced a lot of issues which has many gamers wondering if come 27th of August, will these issues be addressed or will they be unable to log in as well?

Naturally fans weren’t too happy about the server issues, especially given that this game is a “rebirth” of the original game which was shut down due to the numerous issues plaguing it, and having these server issues pop up certainly is not a great way to kick things off. To that extent the game’s director and producer, Naoki Yoshida, issued an apology on the game’s forums. (more…)
