Oppo squashes the smartphone further, quad-core 6.13mm device rumored for late April
Posted in: Today's ChiliSlimline smartphones are kind of Oppo’s thing. While the company’s latest phone, the Find 5, was a trim 8.8mm, the Finder that came before it measured in at just 6.65mm. Well, it looks like Oppo still reckons it can go thinner, with a new leaked device, the R809T, purportedly reaching 6.13mm, while packing a quad-core processor for the ride. According to Anqu, the smartphone profile you see houses a 720p 4.5-inch display and will be priced a little higher than comparable smartphones in China. The leak also reckons the phone will arrive in just two weeks, meaning an official announcement (and hopefully a decent name) should appear before the end of April.

You might think that with all the propoganda which has gone on by Apple and Samsung to tout their smartphone offerings to the world, that one of them would own (or eventually release) the thinnest smartphone in the world. Alas, that is not to be, as it seems that this particular title has been snapped up by Oppo from China. Oppo’s smartphone, calling it the Oppo Finder, measures a mere 6.5mm thin and it is strong enough to actually pound nails into a wooden board using the back of the Oppo Finder without having it experience nary a dent.
Other hardware specifications ain’t too shabby either – we are looking at a 4.3″ Super AMOLED Plus display at 960 x 540 resolution, a 1.5GHz dual-core processor, 16GB of internal memory, 1GB RAM, an 8-megapixel camera at the back, a 1.3-megapixel camera in front, and Android 4.0 Ice Cream Sandwich as the operating system of choice. The main drawback of something so slim? It lacks the universal 3.5mm jack, so you might have to look for an adapter.
