Flappy Bird Returns

flappy birdYep, you read that right, Flappy Bird is returning to the app store in August.

Dong Nguyen, creator of the game, said the new version will be less addictive and will have the option of multi-player capabilities. Nguyen previously had pulled the game off the market after he noticed people becoming addicted. He felt people should spend their time doing more productive things than playing a game. Ironically, at the high point he was making $50,000 a day with over 50 million downloads of the hit game.

Nguyen also announced that he created a new game with similar concept. He Tweeted “I am making a new game, so people can forget about Flappy Bird for a while.” There was only a screen shot of the new game that might be similar to Flappy Bird, with a person jumping from building to building.

DIY Real Life Flappy Bird Game Launches On Kickstarter

About a month ago, the creator of Flappy Bird announced that he would be removing the game from all of its respective app stores (he later states that the game will be making a return). He claims that people were getting too addicted, that and the fact that all this newfound attention was a little too much for him to handle. In the meantime during the time that Flappy Bird was gone, we came across multiple clones on the iTunes App Store and Google Play.

In fact if you recall, you might remember that we covered a “real life” version of Flappy Bird which was made using paper, cardboard, and some tech wizardry. Well the good news is that if you loved what you saw in the real life version of the game and would like to get your hands on one yourself, you might be interested to learn that its creator has turned to Kickstarter to launch the project. Guy Selling Flappy Bird Drawing for $1,000, Say What?

People just seem to get a little crazy when it comes to Flappy Bird. Forget about how frustrating the game is. I’m talking about stuff like putting phones with Flappy Bird on eBay that sell for way too much money. Or the fact that somebody was inspired enough to make this or this.

Now some crackpot on eBay is selling this original Flappy Bird drawing for $1,000. I can’t help but wonder if anyone is crazy enough to buy it.

It was hand drawn by the seller, who says that the funds will go to his “collage” education. So you can see that he really does need to attend “collage”. It is Flappy Bird art and it is original. Wanna hang this on your wall for a grand? Didn’t think so.

Solid Gold Flappy Bird Figurine Worth Its Weight In Gold

Flappy Bird became a worldwide phenomenon – more so when its creator Dong Nguyen pulled it out of various app stores. While he’s still mulling it’s return, the flapster is still very much alive in the hearts and minds of people all across the globe (and on their phones.)

An unusual way of immortalizing the awesomeness of Flappy Bird is this three-dimensional figure of the titular character that’s crafted from solid gold.

The gold Flappy Bird was created by Vietnam-based goldsmithing company N3D, who explain that they are created it in order to “honor this world changing bird and demonstrate the craftsmanship of Vietnamese people.” Makes sense, since Dong is Vietnamese.

Farther down the listing, N3D add that proceeds from the sale of the bird will be used “to support people with difficult situation in Vietnam.” That’s pretty vague, but at least it sounds like they have some good intentions.

Flappy Bird For iOS Return Confirmed

Flappy Bird For iOS Return Confirmed

It disappeared almost as quickly as it became a global sensation. A couple of months back a retro styled game was all the rage. Called Flappy Bird, the objective of this game was quite simple. Clear obstacles made out of pipes that the bird encounters, and the bird is only controlled by simple tapping of the display. This turned out to be a lot more frustrating than it sounds, some people may even have smashed their phones in frustration. Developer Dong Nguyen then removed the game. He has confirmed today though that Flappy Bird for iOS will definitely make its return.

    Flappy Bird Goes Gold

Flappy Bird Goes GoldWait a minute here, what do you mean by Flappy Bird going gold? Isn’t the game like, removed more than a month back, leading to some rather insane ads for smartphones that still had Flappy Bird installed on them? That would certainly imply a game that is complete and working just fine, without having to go ‘gold’, which is normally reserved for a title that is ready for a commercial release. The ‘gold’ that I am referring to here would be a literal one, as a solid gold Flappy Bird has appeared in an online auction – which is a totally different kind of expected resurrection.

GTA 4 Flappy Bird Mod Released

GTA 4 Flappy Bird Mod Released

Flappy Bird was undoubtedly one of the biggest internet sensations of the new year. The frustrating game quickly gained global popularity, players found it highly addictive, which is apparently the reason why its developer decided to take it down and effectively kill Flappy Bird. Since then dozens of clones and mockups have found their way online, but obviously they’re not quite as popular as the original game. After making its way on to GTA 5, the GTA 4 Flappy Bird mod has now been released.

Geniuses created a robot that plays Flappy Bird better than humans

Geniuses created a robot that plays Flappy Bird better than humans

Suck at Flappy Bird? Don’t worry, most humans do. Even if you’re smart, the game is so silly it won’t reward your intelligence. But do you know how you could outsmart Flappy Bird? By building a Flappy Bird terminator. Two guys from China used their frustration to make a robot who basically kicks ass at Flappy Bird. Watch it. It uses a webcam to figure out how many taps is needed to clear the pipes and a robotic arm made from an old hard drive and a tip of a stylus. Hasta la vista, birdy.

Robot Plays Flappy Bird Pretty Well

Robot Plays Flappy Bird Pretty WellThere does not seem to be much news concerning Flappy Bird these days, especially after the creator of the game, Dong Nguyen, decided to remove it “for our own good”. Well, just in case you so happen to own a device that is still capable of playing Flappy Bird because the game itself has already been installed, what is your high score? You might be feeling all smug about it, but have you actually tried to measure your performance against others? How about coming up against a robot opponent? Humans vs robots are always interesting matchups, pretty much like a GOAT (Greatest Of All Time) debates, such as this table tennis playing robot who will go up against a human in due time. Liu Yang and Shi Xuekun of China are the brains behind this robot prototype that plays Flappy Bird pretty well. How well, you ask?
