Flash Drive Packed inside a Real BMW M Keyfob

Sometimes I run across tech products that cross two different geek genres. That is certainly the case with this cool flash drive that merges car guy geekery with tech geek appeal. This official BMW flash drive has 8 GB of flash storage inside and looks like the actual M series carbon fiber key fob you get with factory hopped up BMW sports cars.

The flash drive has buttons that look like the ones for unlocking the door and the trunk, and has the official BMW logo and the M logo as well. The USB connector can be extended or retracted by pressing the trunk release button. The other buttons on the flash drive key fob surface do nothing but sit there looking authentic.

If you absolutely have to have one of these for yourself, you can order one direct from BMW for only $38. However, if you go full poser, attach it to your keychain, and pretend you actually own a BMW M vehicle, car guys will mock you.

BMW USB key won’t unlock your car

BMW USB KeyIf you want to fool people into thinking you drive a BMW or you just like the idea of owning a key that looks like it unlocks a Bimmer, you’re in luck. BMW has just released a USB flash drive that is designed to look like a BMW key. To extend or retract the USB connector – just hit the trunk button. The other buttons serve no purpose other than to make it look realistic. A pretty cool flash drive that I don’t mind having in my collection. The BMW USB key comes with 8GB of storage and a USB extension cable for computers with hard to reach slots. Pick one up on BMW’s website for $38 apiece.

Halo 4 multiplayer requirements skyrocket

It appears that users hoping to play the Halo 4 multiplayer mode in the near future will perhaps be needing to clear out some space from their system first, as “at least an 8GB USB flash drive or an Xbox 360 Hard Drive” will be required to take action. This word comes from Xbox’s official feed in which they also say they “highly reccommend” the hard drive option for those seeking out a fully “optimal” experience. Good games and good graphics don’t come cheap!

This next-generation blockbuster game will be popping up on the 6th of November this year and will be the first person shooter to beat for the holiday season. The folks at the Xbox.com blog have suggested that you pick up an official Xbox 360 USB Flash Drive by SanDisk, but remind you that you’re also perfectly welcome to format one of your own USB flash drives for use with your Xbox 360 instead.

The folks responsible for this update have also shown off the Xbox 360 320GB Media Hard Drive, this also ready to rock for Halo 4. The hard drive spoken of also comes with LEGO Star Wars III: The Clone Wars (as a downloadable game from Xbox LIVE) as well – so get to swinging your light sticks!

Check out our Halo 4 timeline below as well for more Halo action all the way until Christmas!

SanDisk Cruzer Pop Flash Drives are Thin, Flashy, and Crazy Colorful

Over the years, USB drives have become smaller, sleeker, and more compact than they’ve ever been – even while packing tons of gigabytes into a teeny, tiny device. SanDisk has always been known for good quality flash drives, and I especially like how they managed to make the Cruzer Fit so compact (it’s the size of a thumbnail and can hold up to 16GB) And then there’s the Cruzer Pop, which takes flash drives from just being functional to being ultra flashy and creatively decorated.

sandisk cruzer pop 1There’s the black and gray checkered one that’s a bit more low-key, red with the symmetrical design that’s simple yet loud, and the white one with printed-on paint that looks like it’s running down the drive. Not only that, but they’re extremely thin, too, at 0.15 inches thick.

The Pop got its name not form its look alone, but also how you’re supposed to use it: just pop the drive open to reveal the USB connector, and plug it into the USB hub. The drives are available in 4GB, 8GB, 16GB, and 32GB and will be available in retail outlets soon.

Slave Leia Flash Drive is Chained to your Data

Mimoco has been offering Star Wars themed flash drives for a long time now. In fact, the latest batch of five themed flash drives is the eighth series to come from the company. I happen to think this series has what might be the coolest of all the Star Wars Mimobot flash drives the company has ever offered.

Any male geek out there who is a fan of Star Wars probably remembers one specific scene from Return of the Jedi and that would be the scene where Princess Leia is clad in a gold bikini and chained to Jabba the Hutt.

Mimoco is offering that Slave Leia flash drive complete with a chain around her neck and a bikini top. Granted the curved nature of the flash drive makes slave Leia a bit more portly than she was back in the 80s.

The series also includes a Jabba the Hutt flash drive, Admiral Ackbar flash drive (It’s a trap!), and Luke Skywalker Jedi drive. While that Princess Leia flash drive is most appealing to me, anyone intent on collecting these Mimobots want to keep an eye out at San Diego Comic-Con for a very limited edition Biker Scout drive. Only 1000 of those will be made and they will only be available at Comic-Con. The drives are available in 8 GB to 64 GB capacities here.

Series 8 mimobots offer Jabba and Slave Leia

This may be the greatest day in history of themed flash drives. If you look back at every Star Wars movie made, one of the most iconic scenes is slave Princess Leia dressed up in that gold bikini in Return of the Jedi. That particular scene has been getting geeks fired up for decades. If you’re a fan of the Star Wars theme mimobot flash drives from mimoco, you want to check out this new series.

The latest series is the eighth in the Star Wars production run, and certainly the coolest is the Slave Leia version complete with bikini. The series also includes a Jabba the Hut, Admiral Akbar, and Luke Skywalker with blonde hair and robotic hand. Luke has been in more of these flash drive series than any other character.

The company is also offering an exclusive version in the series strictly at San Diego Comic-Con. That special edition is a Biker Scout from the forests of Endor. I will say Jabba is a bit too skinny in flash drive form while Leia is a bit too large. The special flash drives will be available in 8 GB to 64 GB capacities. There will only be 1000 of the Biker Scout units made.

Roland TR-808 flash drive

This 8GB TR-808 flash drive is perfect for DJs and other music enthusiasts. You can pre-order it now for $40. Sadly it doesn’t also function as the real thing, but at least it looks authentic in a mini form.

It might be fun to fool your friends and tell them that you’ve shrunk the real instrument. Hopefully they won’t ask you to play it and prove it.
